It's a shame but it was orchestrated. Brunson got this rookie contract without restricted free agency because his father was mad he didn't get picked first round, and his father got a job with the Knicks, the family is friends with Leon Rose. It's a bit naive to think it wasn't what the Brunson family wanted, even if Jalen says he wanted to resign with the Mavs. He would have never been a star point guard playing next to Luka, and he does love the media/podcast circuit thing, he has a lot of connection wth his college buddies that would would be irrelevant in Dallas.
