Arnold- thanks for taking the time to revise the material. The first iteration was quite good, but this is certainly an improvement. I am re-visiting the series to brush up after a period when I did not use the program. Again, many thanks for a clear presentation!

Great tutorial. First time using Fusion 360 and this made it so straightforward to get started. Excellent teaching style and very easy to follow. I know this is just the very first step and there's a whole load more to come, so looking forward to the next videos.
This is my first try at 3D software and your instruction is very good. A little fast for me to follow, at least in the initial lesson, but I just pause and back track to pick up what I missed. Thank you.
I know the pace is a bit quick, I have to try to cover the material expeditiously to keep the overall length modest. But I rely on that pause and rewind function, and so far no-one has worn out the video player on RUclips. Keep learning!

Don’t let those details worry you at this stage Steve, if you can get a part modelled you’re on the way. There is plenty of time to sort out the ancillaries, just enjoy the adventure.
Been scanning RUclips for a course to learn this. looks like this is the one ! Will also pass this on to my 34 yr old son as I know he is interested too. I was a mechanic he is an Electrician but loves hot rodding cars and other fabrications.
That's great TTCH! Let me know whenever you have any trouble with the tutorials, everyone gets stuck on new software from time to time and I can usually help.
Really good, thank you Arnold. I've just retired and looking to do some CAD training to make things with my 3D printer. Very clear and no nonsense! Looking forward to the other 15 models. Cheers, Geoff, UK.
The presentation of these tutorials is straight from the top drawer. I use RUclips a lot to learn "how to" various things; from DIY to games and now to 3D Print and the designs that I need to accomplish what I want. These tutorials are by far and away the best that I have ever seen on any subject. They should be studied by any RUclipsr trying to get their point across. Many thanks for your time, investment and genuine nature.
There are many tutorials out there but most are outdatet. I am glad that i found yours. I was struggeling but now in your tutorial it makes sence. Thank you very much.

I have dicked around with 5 other Yootube posters for a week and got nearly nowhere. Was beginning to think I am a bigger dickhead tham I thought , then found your channel. THANK-You my confidence is restored and I have learned more practical stuff in the first video than the previous week. I love the way you explain, THANK-You Arnold !
I've watched AutoDesk and several others, which only confused me. I like your style, and finally, it is sticking. I will finish all the tutorials. I am an organ builder who is upgrading to CNC and Fusion. Thank You!
Hi Robert, I'm delighted to hear I've helped and delighted to hear that all of this is resulting in organs! I'm hoping I can contribute more to your projects in the future.
This is fantastic! I've recently purchased a 3d printer, so now I need a way to create drawings ... and, you've convinced me that Fusion 360 is the way to go. I've played with a few other CAD programs but they just don't float my boat 🙂. Also, I've tried some other tutorials (on RUclips and elsewhere) for these other programs and I didn't find them particularly clear. Your presentation is GREAT! You obviously know how education works. In fact, I teach university physics, have done so for years, so I have a little idea what works and what doesn't pedagogically. It's obvious that you really get how to discuss and display content for students. Keep up the good work! I'm hoping to get through most of this series before MY classes begin in a few weeks ... when things will get really busy.
@@ArnoldRowntreeTeachesFusion360 That would be fun! BTW, using the knowledge I picked up from your videos, I just designed and printed a PLA bracket to repair my welding mask! Very satisfying!
Hello Arnold. I'm a scientist in a different field but always find myself needing and wanting to draw some parts and assemblies. I've tried watching a few other tutorials and they were moderately helpful. I'll admit that I was not optimistic at the start of your video but once I got past the "Let's Get Started" flash that everyone seems to want to include you had gold. I learned more from you in 15 mins than from an hour in other videos. Initially my OCDish brain had trouble getting around why you didn't start at the origin but at the end your choice to not do that was brilliant. Other videos take the initial learning to the setup and origins etc. Ultimately that is not what is important though. By starting at an arbitrary location you focused on what is really important which is the relationships and constraints of the various features to one another. By starting at the origin all of the training from others seems to focus on where is a feature relative to the origin. In your video you focus on positioning elements relative to the other elements that make them useful. Thank you. In 19 years of youtube videos I think you now have my second "liked" video.
Haha, thank you so much roptics, I’m chuffed. All that stuff about orientation and location are simple to adjust and change in Fusion but it’s just fluff when you’re trying to get started. It’s always a pleasure to meet a scientist and I hope you won’t take offense when you hear me criticise higher education. That’s where science is done these days and I value science which is what engineering is founded on. Please ask questions when you get stuck; getting stuck is inevitable with new software.
Excellent tutorial, I finally find a tutorial with the right mix of pace to grasp the skill, use the latest Fusion360 version, and at the same time motivates me to create more and more advanced designs using the built-in smart features. Thanks a lot. Cheers.
Glad it helped! Take a look at the playlist Sgt, to see the list of tutorials in order. I'm part way through the revisions at the moment and there are a few extras which might help. ruclips.net/p/PLFCTgdiT5-kLBNvrkUNy63Gu1tWdRuKkr
Thanks for this tutorial! Very well done, and I appreciate the effort to make sure our results look like yours, not just in the 3d model /per se/ but alto the interactions. I'm using Fusion 360 on a Macbook and will be building models for 3D printing, FDM for now and resin later.
Fantastic job on your instruction. I've started other tutorials 3-4 times and gotten frustrated, with the primarily issue being the teaching methods. You are conveying the concepts and functionality in a very concise way. I learned soooo much from this intro session and am looking forward to the following videos! Thank you, thank you, thank you!
Best introduction lecture by far. This is the 6th RUclips Introduction to Fusion 360 video I have screened. I knew there would be someone out there who would present the software better than the rest. Other than a few pauses. I got through the lecture at your pace. I am sure that already being familiar with the basic interface helped. Many of the older tutorials are for prior versions and the interface has changed substantially making them almost useless. Thanks again..
Its good to have you here Darwin, let me know if you have any questions, I can often help with the kind of speed bumps most people hit. My tutorials are being revised gradually, number five is in the works now but most people find that they can follow the older ones after a few of the revised ones. The changes were really pretty minor.
@@ArnoldRowntreeTeachesFusion360 yes! We have a couple creality printers. After your corse she made herself a stand for her recorder in fusion, then printed it out all by herself. She even drew a little blueprint for it with dimensions and all, I was blown away.
I'm no engineer, but work in game dev creating hard surface assets, and this has been HUGELY instrumental to my learning. Like others have said, a lot of jargon usually gets thrown this and that way with these tutorials online which makes it difficulty to fully grasp, but you've explained very well and concisely. Thank you so much!
Hi Arnold. Great to see that you are updating the Tutorials for the ‘new’ UI. I did all 16 of your original series, and this one is just as good 👍 I’m what is termed a ‘senior’, so I tend to learn by read-try-read again method, and progressive video Tutorials allow me to do that. Once again…. thank you. Regards Robert ( Sydney).
Thanks Robert, I'm delighted to hear that I've been able to help you find a good way to learn new tricks. My production pace is painfully slow but I hope to give you more to learn soon.
Hello, I'm coming back to learning fusion following a break due to work load and these videos are great thanks. I've watched a few and come back to the start and well work my way through
Thank you, I love that you shared your knowledge with us. I tried 3D max quite a few years ago but had a hard time getting the hang of it due to lack of RUclips content. Since I am dyslexic I have trouble with manuals and written courses, RUclips is a blessing for me. I am now working on 3d printing as a hobby and want to design things myself, I noticed that fusion 360 was used a lot for that. and that's how I ended up here. Again, thank you for your contributions.
You're very welcome! RUclips now has the second biggest search engine on the internet and I rarely draw a blank when I'm searching for unusual things. It was only a few years ago that I found the gaps more often. Yes, Fusion and 3D printing do go together very well, I recently got my first 3D printer myself.
Absolutely love what you are doing. Your step by step approach is just what I was looking for. Any chance you would consider doing a series on toolpaths? Keep up the great work!
Thanks Bob, yes, I'll be doing CAM and CAE eventually but it'll be a while yet. I'm not quite half way through revising these tutorials which has to be done first, and I have plenty of ideas for the CAE stuff. I'm going to have to find someone who's good at CAM and work with them because its a learning gap for me. So yes, but not for some time yet.
Thank you, I learned lots from your way of teaching! And yes I am going to learn fusion 360, I hope to be really good at it in about 2 years time, having a full time job as something else and 3 kids takes its time. But hey, what´s the fun in having it easy? Keep up the good work!
You're a really great instructor. I had 3 years of drafting in high school in the early 80's. I remember many a red mark for sloppy lines crossing, dimensions off, and smudging the paper with graphite. Life took a different path and haven't touched this stuff since I recently got a 3D printer. This is cheating :) Thank you for making these!
Those were the days! I remember seeing rooms full of drawing boards in tech schools and then I'll never forget the shock of seeing rooms full of big 21 CRT monitors at the local uni in the mid 1990's. Times change.
This is a fantastic video. I have been wanting to evolve my skills out of Tinkercad for a while now however i have had a hard time following along with many others' videos. Thank you so much!
Excellent tutorials mate - I just did the old part one then RUclips showed me that you have now revised that lesson so here I am. Many thanks for taking the time to do these. All the best and I look forward to completing the series. Cheers....Jim

People say that you can't teach an old dog new tricks, but in spite of being 73 years of age, I'm going to prove them wrong!
¡Buenos días Arnold! As an avid railway modeller, I bought a 3D printer about a year ago but, have been struggling with various CAD-based platforms to design and build necessary parts for my hobby. I happened across your channel yesterday and, in the first few minutes of this video, learnt more about Fushion 360 based purely on your communication skills. You assume, quite rightly, interested viewers need to be guided though new, basic skills. I find your choice of descriptive and 'plain speak' narration perfect. You refer to the tools of Fusion 360 and, then show where they originate and how exactly to exactly they are used. I have found so many other sights simply performing actions and, I haven't a clue as to how they achieved said action. I will definitely be joining the FaceBook forum and look forward to navigating my way through the backwaters of Fushion 360 with you. Un saludo. Gary
I'm glad you found it RD. The way RUclips works you have to leave old tutorials up, otherwise the channel just falls off the search engine. I try to put out as many pointers as I can to the new one but the momentum always comes from the old one.

thanks for taking the time to revise the material. The first iteration was quite good, but this is certainly an improvement. I am re-visiting the series to brush up after a period when I did not use the program.
Again, many thanks for a clear presentation!
I'm often brushing up myself William.
Thank you so much - just watched the first video you have kindly posted and can say that you are so clear in your instructions (even explaining sketch and feature modes).
Glad it was helpful! Keep learning Robert and please let me know if you have any questions.
Thankyou Sir! I have terrible ADD and your style of teaching is excellent. Excited to go through the course you've made!
Glad you like them! Please keep in touch, I can often help with questions and problems, we all get stuck with new software.
@@ArnoldRowntreeTeachesFusion360 I shall ;) I'm Mr Snake lol figured I should do it with my drone channel but I'm planning to build custom neon braches for snakes and parts for drones so very happy to have found you!
Excellent tutorial. As a total newcomer to CAD, I found this lesson to be extremely easy to understand. Thanks.
@@Colin_Ames Good on you Colin, what will you do with your new tool?
@@ArnoldRowntreeTeachesFusion360 I’m a hobbyist with varied interests, and the ability to design bits and pieces for these hobbies will be useful. Yesterday I completed lesson 12, and also designed my first piece. Thanks again for the tutorials.
Great tutorial. First time using Fusion 360 and this made it so straightforward to get started. Excellent teaching style and very easy to follow. I know this is just the very first step and there's a whole load more to come, so looking forward to the next videos.
Welcome Steve, keep talking to me, we all need help eventually.
Hello again from Romania, I started with the first episode from the last tutorial, now with this update tutorial I'll go to the end. You made an amazing job, I suppose your students know how lucky they are.
Thankyou, that's very kind. Let me know whenever you have any problems.
@@ArnoldRowntreeTeachesFusion360 great to hear from you, I'm so lucky finding this turorial online, very well explained, good job so far! Have a good day Sir!
Just starting the journey of learning to design and 3d print. Finished first on looks good, aimed at my level. Cheers
Good on you Bob, keep in touch as you go.
cant wait to tear through these, exactly what Ive been looking for after struggling to self teach myself
I'm glad you found me MS, a bit of help can go a long way. Please let me know if you have any questions, we all get stuck on new software.
Thanks a bunch! I have been here for a while, looked at most if not all of your f 360 tutorials. I keep getting lost when my set up does not match yours. However I completed this one finally. Everything saved. Part one of 16 parts.
Good on you Richard, I'm glad you've gotten off to a good start. Please let me know if there's anything holding you up in the next one, you've probably seen the revised version of part 2 ruclips.net/video/QwplUF04gBA/видео.html
Your videos are really terrific. I have learned a lot from you. Please keep up the fantastic work!
Thank you very much!
I really liked the way you showed us around the screen and the different buttons and how they work. I am getting confident in drawing but am totally lost on saving stuff and time lines and how to keep the drawings in order. Hopefully as we progress I will figure this out.. Thanks again
That sounds great Geoff. You can do a lot with a 3D printer. Let me know whenever you have trouble, we all get stuck here and there with new software.

Excellent and thank you. I'm 65 years old and have long wanted to learn CAD for my hobby project ideas and I'll be going through your full class list
Good on you Rod! Welcome and be sure to ask when you get stuck, we all do with new software.
Thanks Greg, God bless you
I am new to Fushion 360 and am thoroughly enjoying it. At 78 years old I hope I can retain some of it.
Take your time Don, while its enjoyable its worth learning.
There are many tutorials out there but most are outdatet. I am glad that i found yours. I was struggeling but now in your tutorial it makes sence. Thank you very much.
Glad it helped Henk. Keep learning

I have dicked around with 5 other Yootube posters for a week and got nearly nowhere. Was beginning to think I am a bigger dickhead tham I thought , then found your channel.
THANK-You my confidence is restored and I have learned more practical stuff in the first video than the previous week.
I love the way you explain,
THANK-You Arnold !
Thanks Peter, welcome to the channel. Keep learning and let me know whenever you have trouble.
Excellent video. You make this easy and stress free. I'm looking forward to the next lessons.
Glad to hear it! Keep learning Mark and Sheila, its great software.
Thank you for such a clear and easy to follow tutorial! Awesome. Hadn't used any CAD for many years. You are making it fun to learn this.
Awesome! Thank you!
@@ghoulardi8875 Thankyou, it’s a pleasure to be complimented by a teacher. It would be so good to meet in person some day.
@@ArnoldRowntreeTeachesFusion360 That would be fun! BTW, using the knowledge I picked up from your videos, I just designed and printed a PLA bracket to repair my welding mask! Very satisfying!
I'm so excited! I just started the older lessons last week. This is perfect timing!
Welcome to the channel JS, hopefully this revised one will make at least the beginning easier.
Just completed part #1. Great lesson. I'll be continuing to part #2. Thanks very much for creating these lessons.
Glad to have you here at my channel Martin. Let me know if you get stuck on anything.
What a fantastic video. I appreciate the balance between boilerplate work and actually working through something.
Glad it was helpful! I'm already working on the revision of the second part.
Amazing start for me. Heard a lot about how wonderful you are. And I agree….
Glad you found me Charisse. All the best for the journey.
Thanks for this tutorial! Very well done, and I appreciate the effort to make sure our results look like yours, not just in the 3d model /per se/ but alto the interactions. I'm using Fusion 360 on a Macbook and will be building models for 3D printing, FDM for now and resin later.
Good on you dnl and thanks for sharing your plans.
I have to learn this for school and this was so useful and easy to follow. Thank you!
I'm so glad! Keep going Bob, this is great software.
Thanks Glenn, I hope this gets you to where you want to be. Keep talking to me if you have any questions.
I watched all 16 a while back, glad your doing a remake! My 8yo learned fusion from you.
That's really cool Tyler, and what are you guys doing with Fusion 360? Are you looking at 3D printing?
@@ArnoldRowntreeTeachesFusion360 yes! We have a couple creality printers. After your corse she made herself a stand for her recorder in fusion, then printed it out all by herself. She even drew a little blueprint for it with dimensions and all, I was blown away.
I'm no engineer, but work in game dev creating hard surface assets, and this has been HUGELY instrumental to my learning. Like others have said, a lot of jargon usually gets thrown this and that way with these tutorials online which makes it difficulty to fully grasp, but you've explained very well and concisely. Thank you so much!
You're welcome kk, that's tremendous. My son is in games and is working on one called "Burning Lands" about to go to crowd-funding.
Hi Arnold.
Great to see that you are updating the Tutorials for the ‘new’ UI.
I did all 16 of your original series, and this one is just as good 👍
I’m what is termed a ‘senior’, so I tend to learn by read-try-read again method, and progressive video Tutorials allow me to do that.
Once again…. thank you.

( Sydney).
Thanks Robert, I'm delighted to hear that I've been able to help you find a good way to learn new tricks. My production pace is painfully slow but I hope to give you more to learn soon.
Hello, I'm coming back to learning fusion following a break due to work load and these videos are great thanks. I've watched a few and come back to the start and well work my way through
Great to hear! Keep in touch Graham.
Very Excited to be able to build things! Great first lesson! Haven't been in school for a while!
Welcome back! School has been right here waiting for you Mr S.
Thanks for these updated versions of your great tutorials. Very much appreciated.
I'll keep working on them Sam, currently I'm working on the revision for #6.
@@ArnoldRowntreeTeachesFusion360 I'll be eagerly awaiting the updates.
Thank you, I learned lots from your way of teaching! And yes I am going to learn fusion 360, I hope to be really good at it in about 2 years time, having a full time job as something else and 3 kids takes its time. But hey, what´s the fun in having it easy? Keep up the good work!
That sounds like a plan Daniel. Keep in touch.
Thx for the remake. Can't wait to see all 16 parts. Good job!
Coming up lentosy, but it will be a bit slow, I'm going to go right through everything to improve them in response to the feedback I've had.
You're a really great instructor.
I had 3 years of drafting in high school in the early 80's. I remember many a red mark for sloppy lines crossing, dimensions off, and smudging the paper with graphite. Life took a different path and haven't touched this stuff since I recently got a 3D printer. This is cheating :)
Thank you for making these!
Those were the days! I remember seeing rooms full of drawing boards in tech schools and then I'll never forget the shock of seeing rooms full of big 21 CRT monitors at the local uni in the mid 1990's. Times change.
Clear and concise. Brilliant, thank you.

I've tried to learn various other CAD software before, and always became so frustrated that I quit. This tutorial was the best training software I've ever used, and I'm feeling confident about completing the rest of the exercises. People say that you can't teach an old dog new tricks, but in spite of being 73 years of age, I'm going to prove them wrong!
Ha ha! That's right, from one old dog to another!
Un saludo. Gary
Fantastico! Welcome Gary, share some photos when you get the chance.

I'm glad you found it RD. The way RUclips works you have to leave old tutorials up, otherwise the channel just falls off the search engine. I try to put out as many pointers as I can to the new one but the momentum always comes from the old one.
