Steampunk was generalised in 1987 to describe a style of fantasy fiction that features Victorian technology.
Weekend at the Asylum - the Lincoln Steampunk Festival is well worth a visit, it's like dropping into a scene from Harry Potter's Diagon Alley and old Victorian England.
