I'm not surprised by the suicides. Their life consisted of work, and not enough sleep. An 8 hour shift is enough. People deserve time to pursue their own passions. Without that, why bother?
Erick, I wonder if you worked in the same place I am? That 10-hour, 4-day schedule is what I do; but every single week, for several years now, I've had to work more hours on Friday and Saturday...and it STILL ISN'T ENOUGH !!! I tell them I have personal goals I'd like to accomplish; they say, "Tough."
This is actually true. I have a friend in Japan who tells me that there is a strong show off culture in Japan that an employee loves his company more than anything else. They are required to be in the office at least 1 hour earlier than when their shift starts, and expected to stay back for 1-2 hours after it ends, even if there is no work. One who fails to do that is seen as a lazy, non-committed and non loyal employee and could be asked to leave the job. The madness goes to the extreme, that when they complete their given assignment of the day, and when they finally submit it, then they are even required to add a foot note somewhere stating that they felt really about been given that work and they feel proud of doing it. The point is - who the heck does that? This is pure madness and useless actions. Irony is every worker knows that the other person is lying about writing things that footnote or showing fake commitment by staying back long hours, then why follow this stupid culture anyway?
Even worse: The overwork problem is not limited to white-collar office people. Unskilled blue-collar workers have the same problem. The worst part is, you look at your work situation, and think, "We should get this done." Yet we don't. Then, despite the fact that you run yourself ragged, going full-blast every day...and they STILL tell you, "You gotta work overtime." When is enough enough? How hard do you have to work before they're satisfied? There is no incentive to do so. Money isn't the issue. The issue is that you do have other things to do outside the workplace; but they act as though your whole life must be devoted to the job, and nothing else. They don't care that your housework, your interests, your goals and your physical needs are neglected. You ask, "Why is it necessary? Why can't we just get everything done on time?" No answer.
come to the UAE it’s illegal to work for more than 8 hours without consent from the worker and loyalty to the company is not seen as anything good here. You get high pay at any occupation.
But when a poor Japanese man who was overworked suddenly is killed when he falls into the path of an oncoming subway train, the other people will continue chattering and working on their papers like nothings happening

Overseas, I think workers can voice their opinions to the government, but there is a labor law called the 36 Agreement, which was enacted out of fear of backlash from the people, but from the company's perspective, it leaves too many gaps and it is difficult for Japanese people to do so. It's really sad because this isn't only in Japan, this is all over the world
Thats sad I thought japanese people were happy 🥺😢
That's only in anime. The true world is brutal!!. Not just in Japan but in many countries right now, overpopulation!!!. The competition to fight for a spot in good university & job spot is absolutely insane & outrageous!!.
Lol. That's what all you idiotic Weebs think. But you don't know the dark sinister side of Japan oviously.
Starving Child I'm a weeb but I know that businessmen in Japan commit suicide because I know what reality is not just on Paper or on Animes.
