John is the last of the great designers no one can do what he does. It will take decades for people to understand his genius. in the era of minimal Celine looks this does look too much but in the sphere of fashion its pure art...

The Amazonian section of this show was EVERYTHING!! Gisele, Shirley, Frankie, Carmen..I also loved the section featuring Stella Tenant and Debra Shaw as well the Hats were phenomenal

I love John, this 1999 couture collection was definitely iconic, sportswear meets future in a couture twist, like something Alexander Wang did for H&M or his own collection, Galliano is a genius, he's beyond all that negativity around him, no one can put a couture show like he does, looking forward for his Margiela's collection, many come and go, but a visionaire like John will stand strong in history.
Alexander Wang and John Galliano in the same sentence, come on now!!

This was an incredible collection along with the Surrealists collection (S/S 1999) and the controversial homeless/Charlie Chaplin collection (S/S2000). And who could forget the Madame Butterfly one in 2007.
he will always be the BEST DESIGNER on EARTH!
I remember this show got a lot of mainstream press. Thanks for thie series, it's a wonderful archive of fashion history.

i bet it was exceptional then, during the 90s where minimalism ruled the runways. Placing this show in the context of today's fashion, the show seems a little campy and galliano will definitely need to evolve his aesthetic for margiela if he wants to be relevant again.

Hmmm... it's interesting to see Tim's p-o-v because the reception of this collection at that time was very negative. Both Suzy Menkes and Cathy Horyn gave scathing reviews.

Galliano for CD is like eating cream cake for breakfast, for lunch, for dinner and also for snack between and in the middle of the night too .... I really love his idears and creativity ... but after all sometimes it is just too much and I am missing someone with "real" style ...
It might be iconic and the books might say so but from today’s point of view these designs look banal . Galliano designed far much much much better collections !

Tim black commentaire suck ! Yes Mr galliano give à Good show ! But none of this really sell and are wear by real people on the street. À great désigner must créate something that work in real life. Not just on a podium. Ysl was giving à Good show and real lady buy is stuff and wear it. The révolution is to be given to Mr arnault to hire him. Mr galliano is somehow disgrâceful at dior Since hé dont have the class for his kind of place. But Mr arnault engagé him in the idéa that hé Will bring lot of free publicity and à younger audience. And on that level it work like magic.
