    Thanks for watching. I tried to fix this trimmer but someone else beat me to it. However I think I know why they gave it away.

    Put a new carb on it and it should be fine.

    Oh no! Don't give up you almost almost have it done. I would have tried to use that w tool or the z tool if it is a Zama carb? Odds are the owner before tried to calibrate the needle as the diaphragm was failing. Now you have to reset the needle back to the original manufacturer setting use those tools😮 It's worth a shot. If it doesn't work then odds are o-rings within the carb along with check valves has failed

      you are correct, and don't worry, I plan on going thru the carb again, and then if that doesn't work, well you know what the plan is then

    Wow nice! The voiceover is so good too are you talking while working or is that done after?

      thanks, the voice over is done in post production. I basically just fix the machine while filming, and then edit it later, make a script and then read it.

    Answering your question, I would say just buy a new carb for this trimmer. Homelite trimmers have always been a cheaper brand, but the older ones hold up well. I may have said this before, but my dad bought a Homelite trimmer back in the mid 90s and it was his main string trimmer for many years. It did well for the most part, but sometimes it was hard to start. I think he still has the old trimmer in his garage, but he doesn't use it anymore. It's just there for nostalgic aspects.

    Go back through the carb.

  • @Patrick4959
    @Patrick4959 День назад +1

    i,d go back through into the Carburetor aka Carby and see if you missed something or whether the Needle tip is not holding fuel very well and if that does not work then you can replace the carby all together etc.

    Go through the carburettor again & also check the check valve in the carburettor to make sure that it's only letting fuel flow in 1 direction.
    One of those pressure testers which check to see if there's any leakage in the carburettor is also handy, it's starting to sound like the check valve is leaking but which is why I would either replace the check valve or the carburettor !

    I would go through that carb again and get it running to pass it down the line.

    Technically: Cost of carb rebuild kit (A) vs. new Chinese carb (B). If A is less than B, multiply by how much time and effort you want to continue to put into this machine then divide by your own personal experiences and outcomes of attempting to overhaul these carbs (mine is no higher than 50%) = your answer. For me, unless the Chinese replacement carb is really rare and expensive or unobtainable, I am no going to spend anymore time or effort than you already have on the existing carburetor. As a matter of fact, I rarely even try taking a apart and cleaning a 2 stroke carb anymore since new ones are so inexpensive.

    • @INSIDEHOUSEGARAGE
      @INSIDEHOUSEGARAGE  17 часов назад

      well said, these aftermarket carbs are still cheap and easy to get.

    I would try to clean the needle in the carb. If it's still leaking fuel, I'm sure a $12 Amazon carb will get it going with a little tuning. The engine sounded good when it did run, but it's likely got a sticky needle or there's a failed check valve internally. Needle worth cleaning up or replacing if you have an extra, but beyond that now, I'd just replace it. That's only a $50 trimmer around here, so I don't usually spend the time to fix them.

  • @briang4470
    @briang4470 18 часов назад

    I would only put a new carb on if its less than $20. If not just scrap it or use for parts. These curve shaft homelite trimmers really aren't that good and aren't worth a bunch of time/effort/money.

    From 1994 - 1996 I worked at a Homelite dealer as a technician. Yes, they were dealer only items at that time, and they were top notch. Then they became big box store specials, and the quality dropped like a brick of lead in the ocean.

    Hey bro what's up? Since it is a curved shaft trimmer, I would hold up on this repair. However, if possible, I would of order a new carburetor for it, fix it and sell it asap.

      great choice, the carbs are cheap so I won't miss much if I do replace it.

    I don’t know if cleaning the carb more or putting a new carb on it will work. I think this trimmer probably has an air leak which is why its hard to start. You would need to pressure and vacuum test the engine in order to diagnose it properly. I pressure and vacuum test all the equipment that comes through the shop I work at.

    • @INSIDEHOUSEGARAGE
      @INSIDEHOUSEGARAGE  17 часов назад

      that's an idea. But most consumers don't have the equipment to a vacuum and pressure test.

    I’m not a fan of Homelite anything honestly. I’d rather use my stihl equipment. But I will say old homelite’s especiallt their saws are pretty well made. What a shame that they went down the toilet.

    You can try to repair the carb again but to have the best chance of a successful repair, I would just replace it with a cheap aftermarket carburetor

    Since it's emission regulations is between 1995 and 1998, does the old trimmer run on 32:1 fuel mix?

    • @juniorlazaro289
      @juniorlazaro289 22 часа назад +1

      2 cycle Oil used to be not as good back then which why the required more but now 50:1 works for everything 40:1 is the most ill mix it too which is just a bit more 2cycle oil
