Ai art is the very thing that made me finally go, “That’s it! I’m learning to draw! Hand-made art is not gonna die as long as I have anything to say about it!” My creations are going to be 100% AI free!
That's a great way to look at it. I've been depressed ever since this ai art started because I thought that learning to draw now is useless. Thanks for the comment it motivated me.
@@FollowP.L.A.N-el2wq There is also photography but there are still painters. So I don't see any problems there. Besides, we're not there yet. People still have to write the stories.
@@Aleks96 painter used to paint portrait then photographer came painter moved to drawing stylized art now with ai we don't need photographer because composition etc can be done by ai . painting art can be done ai and u know what ai can write story better many writers use ai to write stories ai currently sucks at dialogue But we can train ai with dialogue.... Wait few year later ai will replace writers ... We came from gorilla and ai came from us ... We control. Earth ai will control the universe
Which is fair enough (I partially thinking this cuz I hate the fact people made money ai art) I really glad you recognise ai is he use correctly can be really helpful
Yup. That’s true. We definitely understand the plight of artists and why people are against it. The regulations and research on safe AI use are definitely going to develop from here on out. The Hiroshima AI Process Comprehensive Policy Framework we mentioned in the video is definitely a milestone towards this and it has regulations that protect creators as well.
Artists are trained on other people's work without permission. They just do it slower and no one can track it and call them on it. Instead, you get to claim an achievement while people ask them what inspired them. A bit hypocritical, no?
@@Thathumanoverthere1701 "they just do it slower and no one can track it" if this is what you believe then you don't understand how studying art works. 1) People cannot recreate another persons work 100% accurate. a machine can . just like it can copy a file. 2) A person forgets , computers do not. 3) When a artist studies another style aka Master Study(recreating a existing drawing) its not to pass it off as their own work 4)A.I doesnt get inspired by peoples style its copying (100% accurately)
Newbie human artists are training from your work without your permission ever since, at the EXACT SAME WAY (just looking at it, not even copying) and no artist ever cares about it. The REAL artists problem is that AI learns a lot faster and can become good enough to empower people to compete with them. Is jealousy. But what can a traditional artist do with a good AI? Perform even better than anyone. So, instead of whining about the subject, artists need to adopt and dominate AI as a tool to express themselves as professionals.
In the desire to obtain entertainment faster and faster, people are more willing to remove the human factor from a medium like manga than to give better working conditions to artists
What you're saying is the "Profit-Imperative" to everything in modern life. If everything in life boils down to "the bottom line" the results are substandard for human-quality in that process of boiling down. AI just takes that imperative to the absolute maximum: Remove human from the entire process and maximize profit with minimal cost.
Thank you for saving me a lot of time; with this video you've made me realize there's no point in watching any further videos from this channel. But before i unsub, i'd like to warn any fellow manga creators or artists reading this: don't let "productivity" kill your ENJOYMENT from creating art yourself. Yes, it will be hard sometimes, and your story, manga or drawing might take time, but you'll grow because of it, in an artistic but also in a personal level (i talk from experience). They've told us many times that we have to do everything as fast as possible, that we have to be productive, but art is one of the few places where you can actually take the time to learn, to enjoy, to discover your strenghts and weaknesses, to grow as a person. And it takes time, there's no other way; that's the whole point. You'll learn to be pacient, and to be kinder to yourself. By using these "tools", they want you to "speedrun" a process only for the sake of selling you their product, while you deny yourself the chance to actually be creative, and especially, to be YOURSELF. I, personally, don't care for how many drawings you produce, or how they look; if you are sincere with your art, to me, you are BEATIFUL, and so is your art, because that is exactly what art is for. Regarding this channel's point of view, i have to say i'm dissapointed, but sadly, not impressed. If you truly care about stolen art or any of the artists and creators that are watching your channel you wouldn't be promoting any of this crap to begin with. Trying to compare digital art with AI theft was insulting to our intelligence, trying to justify it by showing extreme examples of artists who evidently don't have a healthy routine was manipulative, but to put a two minutes "warning" at the END of the video (after promoting it for 18 minutes) on how to avoid copyright BUT still use and promote the use of AI "tools" was the final spit in the face. You've made me realize you are not in this for the art, but for the CONTENT. And i'm fed up with content. To any fellow artists who took the time to read this, i wish you the best of luck. Enjoy you art journey!
DALL E could do things like this long ago, but just not to this extent. Open-source models can be trained on your drawing skills, hence potentially being monetized. Just like how there are people who enjoy using Assembly code to this day in programming there will be people who will produce manga traditionally. Creativity can be enhanced with tools like this just like how drawing tablets did. There were probably many who rejected it at that time too because it went against the classic paper and ink. Honestly, it seems like heaven to someone like me who is bad at drawing but decent at writing. I like focusing on making my plot better.
@@N30Dallyr A person who doesn't have experience with the craft, wouldn't be able to craft anything meaningful with AI. And even if they have experience, what they would create would most of the times lack personality creating something isn't just about copying and pasting things from your brain, but your creation changes while you work, adding more, lets say, life? into it. So even if you can write, with the help of AI the product would likely be a stale 'looking' manga. if you could draw, but not write, it could be a manga with stale story but lively art. It isn't about editing the pictures and/or text, because most of the time you don't even know in beginning what changes you'll make. Also, I find comparing AI to digital is just, well, not very intelligent.
@@aphlearntodrawmanga It's like using frozen food to make a great dish. It's good, but it's an easy shortcut. Whereas, using AI in any kind of artwork takes away the human element, and no matter what it tries to represent, it doesn't have any real meaning or depth.
saying that AI will make the mangakas life easier cannot be completely true, the executives in the manga company will ask for more chapters in less time.
Dont play dumb. Just go back to selling your course and trying to both sides this issue while selling artists out and gaslighting them when we call you out on it.. High five! GFY! @@aphlearntodrawmanga
Involving AI in Manga making is not acceptable. It could make years of practice and hardwork of veteran mankagas aspiring to be published look like worth nothing.
@@aphlearntodrawmanga Right now we're able to romanticize a future where AI will make the mangakas work easier. The real threat we're gonna be facing though is that no mangakas will ever be needed again, once AI gets the ability to fully create.
@@gustavovorage The real threat here is that mangakas will be even more exploited and overworked, appart from the fact that new works will be bloated with hundreds of pagers but uninspiring repetitive content. That's the future that awaits. Lowering artists and other higher positions to grunt work level pay despite still being expected to produce a high volume of content... The future with AI is nothing but trouble, in all fields. Being a technical artist, seeing all of the young programmers copypasting crappy Chat GPT code and breaking prod on the daily, or artists in the team using AI generated images that look like crap (wether it is as concept art or even for textures in production! insane...)... I can't do anything but feel like the future is going to be filled with mediocrity... yes, even more than there already is.
@@tiranito2834 In the end a person who can fully use these tools would be an artist with the ability to edit. I really liked coding and a part of me is disappointed that it became like this. But honestly, it saves time. I could make a chat-gpt generated code better. Perhaps that's the factor to be considered here. Also doesn't this give individual writers who have zero drawing skills like the one in the beginning of the video to produce decent manga for their content?
The fact the ai generaters makes you pay for additional money for “extra quirks” even though it’s stealing for artists all over the world. So we need to pay for the art we already own too? Makes me sick ngl
They make you pay because all the money BIG tech (Microsoft, google et al) invested in these companies comes with very, very lucrative strings attached. The AI companies all signed deals to get preferrential rates on cloud computing services in order to run at all, because only BIG tech has the hardware to run this garbage. There is no big money. It's all just companies wanting big pieces of the pie before the market realises this stuff is unsustainable, especially at scale.
But anything your favourite artist has drawn is taken from other artists and images of real life, if you prompt “manga style” to an AI then it’s going to use images drawn in manga style to build the rest of your prompt, if you ask a human to draw something in manga style then they take from their experience of seeing and absorbing that style, they know how to draw manga style because they’ve absorbed that material and it’s stored in their brain, it’s not stealing. Edit: not speaking on the companies charging money, just simply about the concept of AI image generation being theft.
@@mangastache that doesn’t change anything or make anything better. Because in the end of the day a human has to work years to even achieve that “inspired” work. We use real life and works of other artists ethically. It’s like saying “tracing is fine because we would achieve that level of skill with time anyway” but not doing the hard work to achieve that level of skill what so ever. And we are original with that “inspired” work. Ai CANT generate images without existing artworks. We can.
I think the reason why I’m so against A.I is due to the fact in the west (mostly America) big companies corporations will use and abuse AI to increase profit without having to pay their artist writers and etc. That’s why the writer strike was so huge since people don’t want their jobs taken away or get even more poor treatment from big cooperations. Like how they want to use AI for background characters where they tried to copyright actors that are use for background scene so they can keep it forever. Thought that’s my two cents Great video and can’t wait for more
But in that regard, they may overestimate its capabilities and end up making art that doesn’t look all that appealing and soulless. But if it is used along side human creativity, it might work.
If AI allows companies to make products without the need of workers, it would also allow individuals to make those same products by themselves without the need of working for those companies. Everyone would be able to make what companies make. AI will flood companies, not make them more powerful. If an AI that is tailored to my needs and tastes can make me an entertaining and interesting movie for free, why would I pay Disney for a mid movie? And technically, I would not be able to pay Disney in the first place, if I can’t have a job due to automation. If consumers can’t pay companies, companies can’t make money. Some people think AI will make capitalism worse, but I believe it will naturally kill it.
@@shizumi5243 that's not true because the normal people need to work, to eat! and making art takes time, how will someone have the time to create if they're not hired for it? they'll have to be working in something else and thus not dedicating their time to art. That's the point. Don't buy this fantasy!
@@maclausosa When AI will completely automate the entertainment industry, it would have automated basically most other jobs, and thus, something like UBI will happen, because literally every human being would need it. Or, money would simply stop existing because AI doesn’t need to be paid to work, so its services would just be free, like free healthcare, free food production, free house building, free entertainment, free everything.
@@shizumi5243 This is just a flowery childish dream. Do you really think the people in the top who run the world would give you free money? Without money and capitalism they're powerless. Who the heck do you think is paying for Ai research? Do you really think they're investing in it to lose the power they hold over common people? There's still no machine that can do physical activities like mining etc as good as humans. The kids and poor people mining in 3rd world countries will still be doing that. Because guess what human life is cheaper to them. The rich will always get richer and Ai would just make it more solid. Since you won't have any other way to climb the ladder after AI.
It's really unfair because AI is trained with images artists made by themselves throught hardwork and long studys and now it steals them using their own talent. I hate AI and laws should be made against it.
Not an AI defender, but literally that's how you, as a natural intelligence, as a person, as an artist, also are trained with the images made by artists throught hardwork and long studies (also from other artists), and "steal" them. And another thing: Talent is a myth. Stop referring to it as a valuable option. It is not. It is as dehumanizing or more than AI bros. to call us just "talented" people.
@@t.durustein2185 Those are the consequences of "culture war" and cultural illiteracy. People keep themselves so much on echo chambers that seem to need to be wilfully ignorant because it's "the other side" instead of asking the real questions and the real affected. Artists, like me and many more.
@definitivamenteno-malo7919 made a great point that even us as humans actually copy other artists that come before us. The anime/manga style we enjoy today did not exist a few decades ago. Japanese comic artists were copying American comics until Osamu Tezuka started incorporating camera techniques from movies into comics. Nonetheless, as we mentioned in the video, our world leaders have already come up with the Hiroshima AI Process Comprehensive Policy Framework that provides guidelines and safe use of AI. We're probably going to see more laws and regulations on AI roll out in the years to come.
I'm kind of disappointed with the covering of this topic on this channel to be honest. All the warnings of the legal and moral issues of this tech should be at the beginning of the video, not at the end after hyping it up the infamous A.I. generated manga. I would not recommend using it even for "creative references", A.I. generated images are just an amalgamation of existing artworks and styles of real human artists. If you are not able to know the real source of your references or having the knowledge of your human artist inspirations, you can end up plagiarizing desings and scenes without even knowing the source. Also creativity is a skill that needs to be trained too. If you are not being able to imagine your own scenery with limited references for your own, it will only get worse and worse if you let A.I. generated images be creative for you. The visual and creative narrative will be driven by something else in your own manga...
I don't think any of the AI online will be of much use in the long term. AI is too sanitized, and humans can tell when things are too good be true. Stylized works in comics and sequential arts have more staying power than the over polished house styles that take over from time to time. Humans crave variety.
This 100%, Artists are what keep these companies alive, I'm genuinely shocked with how they decided to cover this topic. Knowing how these A.I's are trained should actually gain zero praise at all for the vomit they puke out. I've seen hundreds of examples of people getting scammed for buying A.I created things from Twitch backgrounds, medical books and anatomy books. A.I. gets ZERO sympathy from me. Legit stealing from hard working creators, it's absolutely foul.
“AI created images are just an amalgamation of existing artworks and styles” “Creativity is a skill that needs to be trained” Can’t you see you contradiction here? AI is essentially doing what humans do, we experience the world and art and recreate it based on our own ideas. All artists create from what already exists, from images stored on their minds that came in through their eyes, whether it’s nature or artwork…
@@mangastache as the neuroscientist describes the concept of deep learning or data training in AI tech: it takes data points and turns them into a query-able structure that enables retrieval and interpolation between the points. This type of learning is categorically different from even the simplest of embodied biological agents. As in, it's an entirely different category, with no shared characteristics. Analogies to how humans learn are just as misleading as when people used the same analogies to describe computers in the 1950s. So no. There is not even remotely a "contradiction", please inform yourself lol
This fills me with such indescribable rage and despair. What the fuck is the point of it all, of learning how to draw, if the machine is going to do it all for you anyway? Fuck this shit. Rage against the machine.
AI is bad at stylizing. That would require a whole different dataset. Open source AI exists that you could train in your art work alone, but for that to happen you would still need to learn to draw on top of knowing how to code.
I think its nice to have a way for artist to truly express themselves in a simpler matter. Its never really the AI, its more of the companies trying to pinch as many pennies off a person's paycheck as much as possible.
Ai art looks lifeless and too robotic. Not even appealing. I get generated prompts, but if you can’t write an entire story yourself that’s called being lazy. All this Ai art and writing stuff is just going to make society lazier and bigger sheep following big corporations to the slaughter house
Yup, that’s why we mentioned to use it just for referencing. You still gotta give it your own unique touch. As a mangaka, you definitely need to also learn how to write a story yourself. It’s an essential skill. Even if you have AI to assist, it’s not going to be as good or as unique. The most AI is good for in terms of writing is to help generate ideas. As mentioned in the video, the G7 has already agreed on the Hiroshima AI Process Comprehensive Policy Framework regulating AI use and aims to also protect small creators. There will be closer research on the safety risks of AI.
This is probably going to lead to a lot more manga being made and I’m sure there’s going to be a lot of trash but there’s also an increased chance of getting something truly special from it and I’m here for that master piece that’s yet to be made.
I mean, we already have mass produced shit isekai and harem anime/manga. So I wouldn’t be surprised if 5-10 years from now, we have the same thing but just with AI art now. As someone once said: “90% of art is trash anyway.” And besides, there’ll be mangaka like Murata and Miura out there who’d stand out against the machines.
Im a mangaka just for fun also... I usually draw a short story..its still time taking job.. but recently i meet ai, i use and learn how to make manga with it. The result is not quite really good.. but as an artist i didnt want my hobby or the things i like get replace 100% by ai..instead i used to help me making manga( using ai as tool to help you not ai used you)... Ai help me generated idea for background, character design and more. As an example i genarated a simple background and then proceed to enhance it on my own and draw after filling everything...
I can see A.I. art being used to assist artists with developing a world or to assist in that artists workflow and style. But I believe that the artist should still tradionally draw, either by a digital sketchpad or with physical materials. Then use AI to incorporate you're style and to learn and adapt to you, instead of just letting it generate and do all the work by incorporating other styles it references. I think it should honestly be used as a personal tailored assistant that works with you instead of you just letting it do all the work.
For sure! Couldn’t agree more that we still need to learn drawing and storytelling even if AI is around. Being able to use it as a tailored personal art assistant for ourselves would be really awesome! Might even happen in the future if laws and companies play it right.
That's what I really want if I have chronic tendonitist. Actually, I have mild signs of it. Maybe, I should ask those digital artists that have tendonitis. That is the only talent that I can showcase as an illustrator in our office. Even writers amd encoders can develop that annoying hand injury.
Then he is not a Mangaka. ( the AI generator) Its just disrespectful towards real Mangaka who breathe making illustrations and do everything they can to get better and refine their craft.
I will never take a shortcut!!! I won't scrape others' work and call it mine, Even though I don't know how to properly draw yet, I will only make my art with my HANDS!!! MY SKIILL !! MY SWEAT AND MY MIGHT!!! even if my work turns out to be shit, I will be happy because I made it with my hand, and I will keep drawing until I make my own Mona Lisa!!! In the end, I will die happy knowing that I followed my passion and I also walked the same path many great artists walked before me.
Honestly I still prefer drawing the manga then letting A.i doing it the reason being is that when u want something really specific it won't generate it so for now I'll say no to A.i
Or atleast, it will follow the flow of your artline. But for the action posture, I'm just using some postures from movies as reference amd then, I'll just change the distances of their hands, their legs etc. Someday, I will ask my nephew as my model for the posture.
While I do agree that being a manga artist is one of the hardest jobs in Japan, I do argue that having AI do everything for you does not help the situation, the problem with being a mangaka is tight dead lines, not the art or story. If you want to be a mangaka but you don't want to have to put effort into building a story or learning how to draw panels, then being a mangaka is most likely not the job for you.
We agree with you. AI shouldn’t do everything for you and as we mentioned in our vid, you definitely still need to put in the effort to learn and study storytelling, storyboarding, drawing, and all the necessary skills to create a great manga. AI is simply a tool to enhance and speed up the creative process. It would never be able to completely replace mangakas. If you want to create a great story, there definitely still needs to be a human touch to it to get the nuances and emotion just right. That’s something AI just cannot fully replicate.
Bro .... If they want to produce and be creative and have fun while doing it while story telling and having a good "deadline" or whatever else you want to say then THEY CAN DO THAT, and yes it is the job for them if they want the AI to do all the work. Stop commenting and go watch anime or something maybe this channel isn't the right thing for you😒
There’s probably going to be more regulatory laws and policies surrounding AI in the years to come. They already started with the Hiroshima AI Process Comprehensive Policy Framework that we mentioned in the video. Right now, there’s nothing legal that’s stopping people from selling AI art but there may be laws implemented soon on this soon. It’s new territory and the world governments just started acting on it last year.
id say it wont take over as in replace manga artists. the creativity and knoledge needed to make a story work is more than just the images, the way pnales flow, the emotions behind the linework and shading are very abstract concepts an ia could not grasp. however one could train an ia with its own art and use it to help produce new work way faster. and i think thats a good thing considering how much pro mangakas suffer both mentally and physycally now a days. Having more tools to help them with their work could be really beneficial
"the way panels flow, the emotions behind the linework and shading are very abstract concepts an ai could not grasp." ☝ THIS. Exactly! We'd always need the human touch to refine and bring out the best manga out there.
Before answering you, I wanted to thank you for the videos you make. You're not trying to show that being a manga artist is easy. You show the real difficulty of creating a manga and all that it entails. THANKS ! I really hope that you continue on this path. Now I understand that the A.I. could help mangaka have fewer problems with their health. The mangaka who have had problems, or even died from it, are few but it is already far too many. However, I don't agree with new aspiring manga artists using A.I. Compared to drawing software, you still have full control over everything you do. Digital drawing goes faster than traditional drawing because of the software which barely does a small part for you, to the point that you don't even notice it. For example, for black and white drawings, it goes much faster than if you did traditional black and white drawings, and even for color. This is a considerable time saver! But without learning the basics of color theory, or knowing how to make correct values, the drawing software will not replace your fundamentals and will not create a drawing for you "by magic", because it is still you who decides what what you want to do. Freedom is just as present with digital drawing as with traditional drawing. if not even more so. Now with assists for perspective, the imagination only stops with you. And again, even if you don't know the perspective, the assistance will not be able to do anything for you. Unlike A.I. who actually does everything for you. Whether it’s the characters, the settings, the perspective, the values, etc. she really does everything without even doing it correctly. And then even as tools, I don't see how. A mangaka (artist, whatever) draws inspiration from his life, from reality, from his culture and from the culture of the world, from literature, from cinema... I mean, the sources of ideas are infinite and they have never been so present. He doesn't need the A.I. to generate “ideas” or whatever. That's why I don't see the A.I. like a tool. Quite frankly, I see this as a disgrace to the manga itself. It's through blood, tears and guts that a manga is made. It's because we have a story to tell the world that we make comics. It is the human side that risks being lost if the A.I. is used. Anyway, at the risk of being long, I would rather kill myself a thousand times, even a million times, by making a comic that comes from me, than to do it using an AI. who steals the works of artists, to make an amalgamation of his images and illusorily create an image.
A.I. is trained on the work of artists without their consent. How could any artist be okay using such a thing? It's such a slap in the face to their peers.
I was gonna complain but I reached the end of the video, AI is a tool I dont like due to the ethics behind it but I understand its important to learn how to use it and I will need to learn it on the future, so Ill follow the advice later when is a relaiable tool as for now thank you for the info
As an analogue artist, I don't have much desire to use these AI tools; maybe they will become more useful in the future, but I would still find this creative process uninteresting. Digital programs are far enough for me -- that being said, I am interested in seeing what AI users create. Ignore the antis and develop your projects.
What ppl rlly need to realize that even if AI manga WOULD become more common, the thing is, it can get pirated easily without getting copyright claimed whatsoever since it's a law, thus making REAL manga more profitable and it could REALLY benefit the artists that put hard work into their work, myself included since I am an artist myself
For now ai generated image is very limited, i cant put my original character design from my head to image generator, and ai had an issue like inconsistency character design (especially facial expresion), for now i use ai for background refrence and crowd scene refrence.😌
It's understandable manga artists suffered work fatigue; generative A.I. image is NOT a quick fix solution to ripping off human creatives' work globally. Saying, having generative A.I. image can help make your life easier by crafting your manga is not only an absurd and a losing argument, but it's incredibly disrespectful and insulting to manga artists. Plus, many inspiring upcoming manga artists are striving to to work under the mangaka's wing in order to help them building their skills. It's disheartening to hear some mangaka creators will prefer quantity over quality.
i would say that i have a story to what it could be one of the greatest manga created but i cant draw or anything so everyday i keep cheacking and hoping ai can give the chance to work on it
Ai art has been stressing me out th but at the end of the day, these ppl can take the the cheap shortcut but they'll never have the satisfaction of knowing they created a amazing story from their own mind and crafted it with their own hands.
As a person who uses AI everyday, it is a tool. You will NEVER replace the heart and soul that gets put into things by those that take the time to hone their craft. It is true that the AI helped this man put out a manga, but what is really interesting here would be how accurately the characters are replicated. If he used is own datasets and simply did it that method using time and effort, that is amazing! However, I know for a fact that the heart behind it is going to be missing in the minor details. My advice is to keep at it and draw how you wish! I like to use AI as a place holder until I get the funds to afford artists and musicians. It is good to show concepts to people that are making stuff for you so there is little room for guess work and wasted time on doing things that didn't need to be done. It is a tool, that is all it is going to be for now until the next thing comes along and around in a circle we go. Those that have the ability to will still pay for meaningful art. My favorite saying, give a brand new artist all the newest brushes/paints in the world and the experienced artist with the bottom of the barrel supplies will still out perform them. Sorry for the rant.
The problem with using AI as an artist is that it never looks like your vision, it’s like someone else’s interpretation (because that’s essentially what it is). I’ve dabbled with AI but only as a foundation, I’ll edit the generated image in Photoshop and it ends up with very little resemblance. I have no problem with AI being used in any creative project, as long as the result is good, and I think for a truly good result there needs to be the mind of an artist behind it with a clear vision, and I also think that some day AI may be able to become a visionary artist itself despite the human visionary being driven by the experience of being alive and the qualia of being. I’m exited for the future of AI as it can help me create a full manga myself without the need of human assistance!
I understand why some mangakas would want AI to help with their work, which is really tough. But the problem is, when you draw or write something yourself, you make some deliberate, intricate choices to present it in a way you intend to present. But AI is random. It has no such intricacies of intent even if you're really good at prompting. Sure, you can edit the image afterward and add those things in, but sometimes, at the beginning, you yourself don't know about some of the things you'll add in the final version. You just figure it out as you go. If the process is mostly left to AI, those moments would be lost. Besides, if you start with AI, without even experiencing what it means to write or draw, or to make a manga, you wouldn't even know what to change. like the AI manga in question, where it's just headshots(it's not only because AI couldn't do hands, but because the prompter themself was a total noob who didn't know anything about anything). Also, as people get more used to using AI, they'd develop a habit of getting lazy in their thinking. Some would even skip the process of editing whatever the AI generated and use them as is. I'm not saying that'll happen for sure, but it's a possibility. It'll just make the market more stale and their creations lazy and boring. And any potential reader would skip such schlock and go straight for things with more... life. But by then, the saturation of such media might drastically reduce the price of the market overall(again a possibility and the opposite could also happen), and would kill the motivation for most people to try to create anything, cause what they'd gain wouldn't be worth the effort. Also, there's a HUGE difference between digital and AI art, which the channel seems to completely miss. Wouldn't blame them. I've seen similar sort of thinking among people with less than adequate amount of braincells. digital mediums are tools that help you create your art, while image and text generators(they're not true AI since they lack the most basic intelligence) are tools where you tell it what you want, and then it creates a more or less appetizing looking food with ingredients people's pantries, chew it, and dump it straight in your throat.
Last December, one of the panelist that that had critique my finished GN had mentioned me the AI manga. I told him that I will not use that unless it will only enhance my work or it will not take my ideas entirely. You know the pride ego as an artist. But this year, I'm currently developing numbness and pain on both of my hands. Although, my left hand is most likely affected than the right one even I'm not a left handed person. I hope, it's not tendonitis. Although some digital artist artist can manage it. But tbh, if it will get worst, I maybe eat my pride and resort to AI. My employer and some of people are qlready asking me if I'm done with my project. Imagine, with just one episode, it took me 1 1/2 years due to some changes like the hairstyles, armor amd helmet designs etc.But if I can still draw even with that injury, I'll be the commander. No one can stop me from my passion.😒
Manga is just a genre of medium for telling the story. if someone can come up with good story, but s/he lacks the skill nor time nor money to turn it into a manga or film, AI is totally justified in my opinion.
I absolutely agree,, ai is only a tool, helpful for those who need it, like people who don't have the skills to draw. It all boils down to the story. Or even vice versa, if someone cannot make a good story, but can draw well, they can use ai to generate storyline for you.

This whole video is a tutorial for destroying the manga industry… If Mangaka really didn’t want to make manga they would become authors, but they aren’t. So this shouldn’t even exist. Stop promoting it I the first place

Otherwise there is not a realistic way to keep anyone accountable
So! I get it! I been trying to make a comic page with cells all in one prompt but the AI only placed illustrations on a couple of panels and narrative text in others. Now, I know that when making manga with AI is to treat all panels as a separate scene and afterwards crop or resize them all into each panel. I’m using Leonardo AI which is pretty good as it has a menu for drawing modes.
At this rate AI will do everything, Ai will run businesses and live your life for you... human beings don't get what moderation is. A little is fine but when it gets abused oh boy...

Just admit it that you're envious and either develop your skills or love and enjoy others arts.
Do mangaka really think that AI will make their jobs easier? All that will happen is the expectations will go up. They will be doing the same amount of work and crunch time, hundred hour weeks, they'll just be expected to put out more content with the new tools. No employer ever says "This tech makes my employees 10x more efficient, I guess I will pay them the same and let them work 1/10th the hours". They say "I will pay them the same to work the same hours and expect 10x the product".
Interesting video. As a computer science major, I’m all for using technology to make our lives easier. AI, whether you like it or not, is gonna stay. It’s just the natural course of things. The world moves forward and all. That being said, I want to learn how to make my own manga myself. I want the satisfaction of saying “Hey I made this”
I think they have to implement a separate category and label as ai manga, it's good idea to a pro mangaka have an army of himself to help to speed up the process. But in the end the destroy the soul of the process,I would rather wait a delayed manga from my favourite artists than have a constant overflowing content. As a kid most of us we have to wait for the next chapter to release the anticipation was that keep us going in life.
I’d love to see an AI image generator that was easy to use, and used AI with something like pre-made character sheets to generate characters in different poses or doing different things. That would for sure save time by allowing artists to use their own work to quickly generate some of the more “busywork” panels, and allow them to spend more time drawing the really cool, big, epic moment panels by hand.
I honestly think that ComicAI is a really good AI Tool because some young people don't know how it's like to draw with Arthritis in their hands everyday. Thus Arthritis while drawing too much causes inflammation & hand cramps. However, I'm improving my diet to avoid these things.
In the perspective of making actual mangaka's job easier, its ok to use it as Tools cuz I don't want our precious mangakas to die early or to live a painful life cuz all the hard work. I am not threatened by AI, the satisfaction of drawing ang making my own manga for myself and for my followers is enough reward.
I have artblock for years, to the point i only focusing learning how to code. I never knew AI and Art collide in the future, i feel like want to draw again with assist of AI but then i realize most drawing software has AI fiture already, like Clip studio can create shadow and highlights so i feel like i don't need to learn how to code for it.
I'm all for it. The issue at hand is to create a platform where everyone can enjoy their passions either by strait up skill or A.I. I believe a day is coming we won't need ink and CPUs to draw anymore, I really do think soon we will be able to create art with our minds and imagine it using newer technology. The future is very clear, its not about savoring a taste for ones self, but that the taste can be enhanced where all can enjoy it together. If we play our cards right and not greedily, A.I can work with artist and create newer projects bigger than One Piece franchise , even in time frames less than a year. New shows, games, ect.
I have nothing against A.I. being used as a tool to AID already skilled artists. My issue is that it's mainly being used by lazy, unskilled hacks that have no interest in learning how to draw and are just using A.I. as a workaround.
I love how this video aged like fine milk, outside, during the hottest summer, in the middle of the Sahara Desert. Artists take the W, AI bros take the L.
I really don't get why people are mad that humans maid technology that can create art, If you say it is because it is stealing art then i will till you is that it is more like inspirations because any work that changes on other works is not stealing. Additional you still need to be creative even if AI can make manga from what you describe it does not mean it is good after all art is only a part of the bigger picture. I just dont see how under cutting the AI ability will stop help artist what i would say if you want artist to have jobs you should not fight the AI but the greedy companies
I believe It depends if Ai art works will be able to monetized or not. If not then it will be a good reference tool for the artists, if you can sell a manga made by Ai which samples from other artists then that would be a problem I think.
no one is stopping them from drawing physically (by hand) not cheater tool ai art...the people who want to stop them from drawing are weird people and should be ignored!
If you have the possibility to learn real art, to write your own stories, to create concepts, styles, and you have a true mind of an artist, then use your time and your chances. No master ever would let a machine do his creative process. If you are too old or if you don't have enough talent, but your heart burns for creating your mangas or comics, use AI! But don't believe that it will ever be the same as the art of so many good people who reached a high level, built a strong personality.
Very interesting video. I currently use the MIDJOURNEY AI which allows me to produce images that are more precise. I'm one of those people who know how to draw and who still use.
AI is not here to help, piss of with this take. AI tech startups are here to make bank as fast as possible before laws catch up to their copyright infringement and they're all forced to disappear.
@@laskouide_newragingbulls What's unfounded about the assumption that "tech startups" are here to make money, exactly? How do you think businesses function? And do you honestly believe that copyright laws aren't going to change very soon to accomodate for all this AI shit, knowing that big studios stand to lose exclusivity to their oh-so-precious IPs? You're naive if you don't think studios will find a way to lobby for your individual ass to lose all access to this sort of tech if it means they get to use it to save money and fleece the consumer for more.
We'll probably have more laws and regulations in the future for the safe usage of AI. It's possible that our governments would require us to explicitly identify is something is AI-made depending on how this all unfolds.
I would only ever use A.I for things such as grammar, drawing guidelines and basic math, but as Lofti pointed out once if you use it for ideas it takes away basic communication and everyone would be regurgitating the same idea. Human communication in art is everything in art and A.I will take that away.
I'm an artist myself...in my opinion, ai will help us finish our work around 80% max...the rest still required the artist to edit or arranged to final result. so i agree, this is just one of the tools, like other softwares. ai cannot put emotion in the art, only artists could.
What a slap in the face to artists. Others have already pointed out that these AI tools are built on datasets comprised of taking art without the artists consent so I won't go into detail other than it's scummy for this channel to gloss over these points. "Hey, it's bad but use it anyway"... I would want to ask what is the point of a hiring a mangaka once these tools get even more advanced? The task could just be taken by the editorial department or some other department could be built with randos who just ask ChatGPT to write and these AI programs you are advertising to generate the pages. It's easy to say "it will never completely replace mangakas" but that is clearly the goal of comic A.I generators. The mangaka industry is unfair and labour intensive but AI is putting a band aid on the problem, which as mentioned will also erode the profession. Publishing companies could do a lot more to make the working conditions better such as not demanding artists to hit a constant weekly schedule, more holiday (to mangakas even get time off?) allowing more oneshots from other artists to allow rest for the weekly artists etc. I'm not sure if unions are a thing for mangakas but it should be and the government could be doing a lot more to facilitate better working conditions considering the high suicide rate from overwork in Japan. So yeah, unsubbed.
Im waiting for AI to develop to the point where image to image or video to video gets consistency and personalization. That day the world will shift, from a world of privileged driven art to talent driven art.
Saying an AI can do AI-limited work in a month and a half where a human can only do that work in a year? Who cares? I'd still rather the human quality and have it done slower.
Also I doubt AI will make manga artist job more easier. It might even do the opposite. Think about it. If mangaka start to produce more and more work due to the usage of AI in a short amount of time. That’s mean their deadline will get shorter and shorter. And that’s the real problem. Deadlines. Creating 20 full pages in just one week even with the help of assistants isn’t health. That’s why a lot of manga artist goes on massive break and get hospital during or after their series is finished. If manga artist publishes bi monthly or even monthly then there’s a chance that there job will be more easier. TLDR: Weekly deadlines is what ruining manga artist health. Give them better deadlines and better pay. But unfortunately we live in a capitalistic society 😔
the only thing that makes me lazy and slows me from making my manga or any other activity is playing video games (league of legends to be specific) and also the unfinished plot of the story or the idea !!

Which is fair enough (I partially thinking this cuz I hate the fact people made money ai art)
I really glad you recognise ai is he use correctly can be really helpful
No one is 'willing,' though. Not for mangas.
I has thinking about giving up , but this coment changed everthing . Thank you so much ( I'll make this coment my home screen.)

Thought that’s my two cents
Great video and can’t wait for more
But in that regard, they may overestimate its capabilities and end up making art that doesn’t look all that appealing and soulless.

What a way to hit the nail in the head.

“AI created images are just an amalgamation of existing artworks and styles”
“Creativity is a skill that needs to be trained”
Can’t you see you contradiction here? AI is essentially doing what humans do, we experience the world and art and recreate it based on our own ideas. All artists create from what already exists, from images stored on their minds that came in through their eyes, whether it’s nature or artwork…

Open source AI exists that you could train in your art work alone, but for that to happen you would still need to learn to draw on top of knowing how to code.
did you watch the video entierly ?
There will be closer research on the safety risks of AI.
ai should disapear imo
true. But sadly, it is not going anywhere
Have to agree with raidenstark on this one.
Nah I'd win
world will be a better place without AI
@@nobody32770 no,is possible to live whiout ai but ai is not the problem, but what we doo with it
This is probably going to lead to a lot more manga being made and I’m sure there’s going to be a lot of trash but there’s also an increased chance of getting something truly special from it and I’m here for that master piece that’s yet to be made.
I mean, we already have mass produced shit isekai and harem anime/manga. So I wouldn’t be surprised if 5-10 years from now, we have the same thing but just with AI art now.
As someone once said: “90% of art is trash anyway.”
And besides, there’ll be mangaka like Murata and Miura out there who’d stand out against the machines.
Definitely agree!
I will never embrace ai
Stop commenting and go watch anime or something maybe this channel isn't the right thing for you😒
If they can’t draw they could join forces with an artist and bam
Join forces or learn how to draw themselves. Learning how to draw yourself is definitely the best way. 😉
"the way panels flow, the emotions behind the linework and shading are very abstract concepts an ai could not grasp."
☝ THIS.
It is the human side that risks being lost if the A.I. is used.
Anyway, at the risk of being long, I would rather kill myself a thousand times, even a million times, by making a comic that comes from me, than to do it using an AI. who steals the works of artists, to make an amalgamation of his images and illusorily create an image.
cook brother, cook🔥🔥🔥
using ai to do work is like having a personal assistance... but a kiddie one and stubborn and sometime's they go rogue like wtf.
😂 Great analogy
That's how It should be used. But people are letting the little assistant do all the work
A.I. is trained on the work of artists without their consent. How could any artist be okay using such a thing? It's such a slap in the face to their peers.
scares me very much but mangaka need a break and maybe this can give them that
I was gonna complain but I reached the end of the video, AI is a tool I dont like due to the ethics behind it but I understand its important to learn how to use it and I will need to learn it on the future, so Ill follow the advice later when is a relaiable tool as for now thank you for the info
I feel like human made art gonna become even more valuable when world become oversaturated by a.i works.
Yeah, there’s definitely a lot of issues with AI generated art right now. There’s a lot of imperfections and far from what pro artists can do.
This helped me make a concept and use it to shop around for an artist to bring my story to life
It's understandable manga artists suffered work fatigue; generative A.I. image is NOT a quick fix solution to ripping off human creatives' work globally.
May we ask what’s stressing you out?
I will completely take advantage of this.
I also generated art and I still do but AI was the reason why I started again with drawing, ai motivates me
That just takes all the fun out of making any art.
I’m exited for the future of AI as it can help me create a full manga myself without the need of human assistance!
cheater tool that steals peoples artwork into their databases lol
@@palaboypulubi If you're lazy enough not to draw, then probably your writing won't be any good either. Your visual storytelling will be terrible too due lack of understanding and practice, but good luck with it i guess.
@@user-vu9bu6nx4c lol tell that to the original author of One Punch Man, his drawing sucks, but the story telling is there, that's why its popular, that's why it was redrawn by other professionals. BECAUSE THE AUTHOR KNOW HOW TO WRITE, BUT DON'T KNOW HOW TO DRAW WELL.

The more yall give it inspiration and actually attention the more people are going to make ai become better at art
True. It sounds like you consider this to be a bad outcome? How do you prefer things to play out?
This whole video is a tutorial for destroying the manga industry…
If Mangaka really didn’t want to make manga they would become authors, but they aren’t. So this shouldn’t even exist. Stop promoting it I the first place

@@AloiseHandle it gives me hope that one would disagree so easily. But no one would be able to detect Ai from real art in just a while. Just look at how much it has progressed already. So once they are unable to identify from fake and real, what will the lawyers defend/attack?
If there is a way to, maybe with a water mark, or like before-distorted limbs- It would be more realistic. Otherwise there is not a realistic way to keep anyone accountable
@@Wasurenagusa0 There's already an ai arms race occuring where people have tinted images to poison online AI datasets.
So!
A little is fine but when it gets abused oh boy...

he wants the praise and name of being a "mangaka" or manga author but don't want to develop the skills. envy is indeed a sin, envious people that want to receive recognition that artists receive are going to feed this system. Just admit it that you're envious and either develop your skills or love and enjoy others arts.
Never gonna pay for anything I can do at home for free.
Way to make your manga be worthless even of being pirated.
It will happen one day and its getting closer and closer, we ever do it first successfully will make a lot of money for sure.
IDc as long as these master minds get to share their STORIES. whatever makes their job easier 🙏🏽
I want the satisfaction of saying “Hey I made this”
I don’t want manga artists get replaced by ai but use it for a little bit of help sometimes
Your video and the discusion is so professional! Thank you for using Comicai
Great job at stealing artists work! You sure are professionals... professional thieves.
LoRas and controlnet allows this in Stable Difussion.
i have humble reequest can u pls make a video how to make manga didgitally for beginners , in media bang pro application pls pls pls pls...
never use AI to make an entire manga, it's not right, only use it for grammar issues (not recommended) and references
*cry in mangaka that dedicated a huge part of her life to it*
I honestly think that ComicAI is a really good AI Tool because some young people don't know how it's like to draw with Arthritis in their hands everyday. Thus Arthritis while drawing too much causes inflammation & hand cramps.
However, I'm improving my diet to avoid these things.
Glad it’s working out for you! Are you creating your whole manga on just ComicAI?
New shows, games, ect.
thank you for making this video i now know what to use 🥰😁
I would use AI to help with concept art and maybe props and some geometric elements. But otherwise I like drawing everything
The only thing AI can truly replace is time. Everything else is left hallowly empty. Without "human" it isn't going to connect.
Wait, I'm out of the loop. What good news just happened?????
"AI will democratize art for people like me!"
"Like who?"
" *sigh* ...LAZY PEOPLE"
Hahahahahaha, Man Carrying Thing reference!
Oh i need good story prompting skills? *Cracks knuckles in forever DM*
When ai art becomes common, real artists become a rarity. Law of Supply and Demand. Real artists can charge higher.
If not then it will be a good reference tool for the artists, if you can sell a manga made by Ai which samples from other artists then that would be a problem I think.
ai voice actor is telling what to do is crazy💀
😮 I don't use A.I. to do art, I use my own skill, but I never realized that someone with no art skills would use A.I
I mean, yeah, i think that's 80% of the appeal of AI, people who don't know how to art using it for gratifing results.
no one is stopping them from drawing physically (by hand) not cheater tool ai art...the people who want to stop them from drawing are weird people and should be ignored!
AI tech startups are here to make bank as fast as possible before laws catch up to their copyright infringement and they're all forced to disappear.
another guy who counter constructive arguments with unfounded arguments and which aims to demonize what he doesn't like,i love it :D
Then you have to put AI in the credits, or maybe not, but that would be like "cheating" I guess.
OH thank God
Nu uh ai ain't taking over manga
So yeah, unsubbed.
i agree and i also unsubbed :T
I get really annoyed that they say “ get with the times” totally i want to be lazy and unethical.
Im waiting for AI to develop to the point where image to image or video to video gets consistency and personalization. That day the world will shift, from a world of privileged driven art to talent driven art.
I would love to make my own manga but i have zero drawing skills. What Ai can u guys recommend for making my own manga ?
A I art looks like it was made by A I
The art has no life
Due to ai hand made art will be more rare now
Just like the digital artists never be able to beat the traditional artists, AI will never be able to touch the realm of true mangaka.
Saying an AI can do AI-limited work in a month and a half where a human can only do that work in a year?
Who cares? I'd still rather the human quality and have it done slower.
You won't be able to make the difference and it will cost less to produce so publishers will probably turn to it
What a great video
Glad you enjoyed it
Also I doubt AI will make manga artist job more easier.
