I do this too! I have a folder called 'Stealing From Thieves' that's full of HUNDREDS of AI art and especially AI adoptables, which I think are just abhorrent. I usually take a handful of similar designs (because AI adopt sellers will legit sell the same design with slight differences multiple times) and frankenstein the parts and colour palettes I like into something new I can use for my stories or D&D sessions.
Fun fact: all AI art is born into the public domain, so not only is it perfectly legal to steal it in any way you want, you can even make any claims you want about it, including that you're the author, since the public domain belongs to no one and has no moral or attribution rights.

Like I thought it would be used to create like the first draft of a character design etcetera, I got really mad when I learned how it worked. I get both sad and mad at myself when I see ai generated character “designs” on Pinterest cause some of them actually inspire me a lot sometimes 😭💀
This cause at first I thought it would be a great inspiration board tool to make putting references in a bot to put some things together, but instead it's this madness. It's like when I thought NFTs were like DA bidding boards where it makes art auctions a lot easier since it will be on one site, but nope it's something else 😮💨
Before the gen ai flood I messed around with more rudimentary ai like artbreeder, I thought artbreeder was cool, a toy I could use to make realistic faces for characters or make very rough design ideas. I briefly messed around with midjourney thinking it would be the same, but it somehow was even less effective as a tool. Partially because it's trying to be a final product instead of a draft. I realized that the end goal was always to make a tool for the rich so they could cut corners in the entertainment industry instead of paying professionals, replacing them. Being a toy for average consumers was just a positive (for them) side effect. One thing I don't hear talked about much is the fact that ai actually takes an incredible amount of resources and money to run, a lot of these big generators are bleeding money to push their product to everyone before they switch around and slap higher pricetags on everything. I wonder if things will calm down when that happens

The first character's design and silhouette came out so much better than whatever the AI made at first, the comparison between the anatomy at 1:15 and at 7:29 is incredible, and the redesign isn't even the whole body. Larger body types are so rarely drawn properly, and the AI models can't do them any better, so its great to see some good representation. Loved the video ❤

I'm fine bot shielding my art from ai tbf, it wouldn't help anyway and even if it did then something I made could be used in making something that inspires people with their own art which makes me so happy, this is why I even wanna make my own ai image generator that's trained off of my art, if I'm lucky then it could maybe one day be good enough to show the public and they can use the generator to help generate something that inspires them

I've seen multiple channels that have videos with the same idea (but obviously not the same art or choices of images to turn into OCs lol) so they're not the first person to do this but crediting someone for giving the inspo is really nice.

@Staxurst Yeah! It's really cool seeing how an artist turns Gen AI remixes into a new character design. They'll choose to change some things, preferences that enhance the end result, or else there are multiple elements that need to be interpreted somehow. I've collected some random AI that I've seen on DeviantArt as potential inspo but I haven't done it yet. I'm slow and I have several OCs I haven't finished working on as it is lol. Plus AI tends to be both incredibly detailed yet weirdly basic, unless the person had a really wild prompt. The ones that actually floor me after the initial "oh wow" of the thumbnail make me so sad I may never see the artist originals the AI was cobbling from.
@@DoveJS honestly same, I have seen some ai art that was great inspiration for really unique hair or clothing styles that yeah need a lot of work to make them...kinda believable but still. But everyone's works at their own pace, I definitely would like to see more artists do something like this!
As fun as this may sound, encouraging people to use ai as a reference or even a source of your characters is…a bit of a problem. Partially because that also encourages ai users to generate more content and critiquing ai is even worse because you’re telling them where they went wrong. Aka more oc’s getting stolen, turned into ai slop, and if we aren’t careful everyone’s GOING to keep doing it. The oc’s came out adorable, but it’s better to find inspiration from other sources. Take a page out of trugreen7’s book and go on a walk or look around your room and see what inspires you, or ask your friends to name something random and try to make a character off of that, etc, it’s just better to not use ai.
The best way is for people to either go to websites where only ai art is posted (like PixAI) or generate it themselves as if we keep them in the ai exclusive places then it's fine because proper who want ai can go to the ai places and people who don't want ai can go everywhere else. I actually wanna make a website that's like DeviantArt that's only ai art, if I can get people to only post their ai art there then it'll finally be contained in a single area without affecting the outside wildlife

The first idea is actually kind of useful like the bottle that can pour infinitely like if you had a healing potion they needed to make and you had that bottle I feel like you would never run out of that potion that you needed
Lowkey I think this general idea or "stealing" "replicating" ai generated images is kind of a double edge sword. Because on the one hand you're not generating the art so you're not actively promoting or supporting the general thievery of AI, you're still in some shape or form using/promoting the ai generated images you're simply justifying it by saying you didn't generate it yourself. It sucks because the sentiment of kicking it to the AI bros "haha you don't own this so I can steal it" could be strong and a nice gotcha moment, it doesn't change the fact we're still otherwise benefiting from AI and all the artists it stole from. It's like telling your friend to generate something so that you can then use it as inspo to then have the clear conscious that you didn't generate it yourself. Idk, slippery slope all around 😩

One time I saw a “drawing” that had horrifically bad proportions, there were two waists, and an inhumanly long neck. Like something that a human could never accidentally do, especially with the level of detail the rest of the drawing had. AI is getting better at one specific artstyle, but also worse cuz it’s an art style that no human would draw with.

i was also wondering that, the hands and feet being different colors on the left right was something i noticed, but theyre reversed for hands vs the feet, so that could be intentional, they could easily intenionally have more fingers than a human since theyre non human...other than that the gems looked off, but it could also just be the way they shade... i wish the artist explained this. theyre tone came off as very much im better than you,, and then after i had that thought they said "i just like to sound pretentious" i couldnt even get through the video

I shall now be a subscriber>:3 (yayyy!!) My suggestion with video ideas is maybe make a series of making redesigns or readaptations of characters from (this is an example) Phighting or Regretavator! Or making new skins for games that have skins (AGAIN IS AN EXAMPLE) like Phighting! (Wowa! I'm such a Phighting fan!!) By the way, the game 'Phighting' that I bring up (THIS IS ONLY IF YOU DONT KNOW WHAT IT IS!!) Is a Roblox game that's basically like other fighting games but puts a good spin on it. Making characters that have lore and having lore for the universe the game is in! It's still in alpha as I'm writing this (I THINK??) And is a really really great game! Sure it's a bit buggy, but that's what makes it fun! If you'd like to know more about Phighting I recommend watching a video about it since I can't really explain stuff that good so uhhh.. yeah sorry I made this long!! Also watch a video explaining Regretavator if you don't know what that is, it's another Roblox game that I would recommend to others!!!
10:45 I was also really interested in ai when it first came out. But I was quickly disappointed when I tried to generate a character to use as inspiration and it gave me something completely different.
I really love both designs!! I do wish you showed the original "design" (if you can call it that) more though. I assume you were looking at it for refrence the entire time, but as a viewer I want to see what you changed, I want to see the comparison between the actual decisions an artist makes and the ai slop, because that's the premise of the video. To do that, I had to keep skipping back and forth between the few seconds you show the original and the speedpaint, which isn't great. You don't have to have it on screen the entire time, but maybe you could find a compromise - especially when you talk about things like how you change the hair compared to the original and such things. I didn't have any time to memorise the hair, now I have to skip back!
that was actually intentional, because i wanted the focus to be on the original ai design as little as possible. normally i would show the original design more often like i do in my other redesign videos but i wanted this to be more akin to a light inspiration than a full blown redesign!
heyy ttrpg lover here! Yes, Tieflings are most common known by DnD but you can find them in other tabletops like Pathfinder. (they had to change the name due to not wanting to be associated with the Dnd IP anymore) but yeah, a lil fun fact for you and anyone else. also, lovely art!
The tiefling colours are more dependant on the demon they're a descendant of and you can pick different abilities based on that. Tiefling wasn't dnd exclusive, it used to be in both editions of pathfinder. But tieflings and aasimars were both removed and replaced with nefilim and merged into one species
Actually for the first one you could also give almost inkling like aspects, like cow/ goat/ sheep mixed with inkling who is a wandering traveling merchant. Can go into water type thing, definitely is a magic user. @:3

The best way is for people to either go to websites where only ai art is posted (like PixAI) or generate it themselves as if we keep them in the ai exclusive places then it's fine because proper who want ai can go to the ai places and people who don't want ai can go everywhere else. I actually wanna make a website that's like DeviantArt that's only ai art, if I can get people to only post their ai art there then it'll finally be contained in a single area without affecting the outside wildlife
@ still affecting them by stealing artwork to make said aigi so unless you’re only gonna copy off of other aigi for the data sets, you can’t not affect the outside.
@@MarieTheFloofyFox You really can, many only use artwork that they got permission to use and there's also a whole type of ai image maker that doesn't mix images together but rather gets abunch of random dots and reshuffles into fitting what people want while actually just using art as reference like human artists do

Tieflings can be blue! For a time, it was specifically Levistus tieflings as their fiendish traits are from an ice archdevil. As of the 2024 update to the rules, there are no longer suggested colours, and they are depicted in almost every colour of the rainbow.

Lowkey I think this general idea or "stealing" "replicating" ai generated images is kind of a double edge sword. Because on the one hand you're not generating the art so you're not actively promoting or supporting the general thievery of AI, you're still in some shape or form using/promoting the ai generated images you're simply justifying it by saying you didn't generate it yourself. It sucks because the sentiment of kicking it to the AI bros "haha you don't own this so I can steal it" could be strong and a nice gotcha moment, it doesn't change the fact we're still otherwise benefiting from AI and all the artists it stole from. It's like telling your friend to generate something so that you can then use it as inspo to then have the clear conscious that you didn't generate it yourself. Idk, slippery slope all around 😩

Here's my headcanon for the blue Tiefling so far: She uses the name "Bluebelle" when selling stuff because she thinks it's funny.
One time I saw a “drawing” that had horrifically bad proportions, there were two waists, and an inhumanly long neck. Like something that a human could never accidentally do, especially with the level of detail the rest of the drawing had. AI is getting better at one specific artstyle, but also worse cuz it’s an art style that no human would draw with.
i wanna suggest a name for the sheep girl bc im so so so soooo weak for her! she reminds me of a cloud so i suggest Loni which is part of the word Cumulonimbus which is a biiiig cloud as far as i know

I think the first one is really cute! But I feel like the first image isnt AI.. to me it looks very intentional, so how would you know? I also dont really think most ai are on the larger side, there is definitely is a possibility but idk.
i was also wondering that, the hands and feet being different colors on the left right was something i noticed, but theyre reversed for hands vs the feet, so that could be intentional, they could easily intenionally have more fingers than a human since theyre non human...other than that the gems looked off, but it could also just be the way they shade... i wish the artist explained this. theyre tone came off as very much im better than you,, and then after i had that thought they said "i just like to sound pretentious" i couldnt even get through the video

My suggestion with video ideas is maybe make a series of making redesigns or readaptations of characters from (this is an example) Phighting or Regretavator! Or making new skins for games that have skins (AGAIN IS AN EXAMPLE) like Phighting! (Wowa! I'm such a Phighting fan!!)
By the way, the game 'Phighting' that I bring up (THIS IS ONLY IF YOU DONT KNOW WHAT IT IS!!) Is a Roblox game that's basically like other fighting games but puts a good spin on it. Making characters that have lore and having lore for the universe the game is in! It's still in alpha as I'm writing this (I THINK??) And is a really really great game! Sure it's a bit buggy, but that's what makes it fun! If you'd like to know more about Phighting I recommend watching a video about it since I can't really explain stuff that good so uhhh.. yeah sorry I made this long!!

10:45 I was also really interested in ai when it first came out. But I was quickly disappointed when I tried to generate a character to use as inspiration and it gave me something completely different.

I really love both designs!! I do wish you showed the original "design" (if you can call it that) more though. I assume you were looking at it for refrence the entire time, but as a viewer I want to see what you changed, I want to see the comparison between the actual decisions an artist makes and the ai slop, because that's the premise of the video. To do that, I had to keep skipping back and forth between the few seconds you show the original and the speedpaint, which isn't great. You don't have to have it on screen the entire time, but maybe you could find a compromise - especially when you talk about things like how you change the hair compared to the original and such things. I didn't have any time to memorise the hair, now I have to skip back!
that was actually intentional, because i wanted the focus to be on the original ai design as little as possible. normally i would show the original design more often like i do in my other redesign videos but i wanted this to be more akin to a light inspiration than a full blown redesign!

heyy ttrpg lover here! Yes, Tieflings are most common known by DnD but you can find them in other tabletops like Pathfinder. (they had to change the name due to not wanting to be associated with the Dnd IP anymore) but yeah, a lil fun fact for you and anyone else. also, lovely art!
The tiefling colours are more dependant on the demon they're a descendant of and you can pick different abilities based on that.
Tiefling wasn't dnd exclusive, it used to be in both editions of pathfinder. But tieflings and aasimars were both removed and replaced with nefilim and merged into one species

Actually for the first one you could also give almost inkling like aspects, like cow/ goat/ sheep mixed with inkling who is a wandering traveling merchant. Can go into water type thing, definitely is a magic user.
