Killeen, Texas, feels like a town with untapped potential and some missed opportunities. Despite its central location and proximity to U.S Army base, Fort Cavazos, the city lacks the vibrancy and development that could make it truly thrive. Instead of a busy downtown or lively cultural scene, you’re left with empty streets and underutilized spaces. The promise of growth is overshadowed by a lack of vision, leaving the town stagnant while larger cities continue to attract Killeen’s residents their markets. Killeen could be a lot more of a city but it feels like it’s forever waiting for investment.
