Both Pres Eisenhower and Truman were Chrysler fans. Got the chance to bid on Ike's personal 56 gold and white Imperial and Pres Truman and wife drove back to Missouri in their Chrysler new Yorker after leaving DC. Most people think Imperial was just a Chrysler with different emblems, but in fact starting in 50 Imperial had larger frame larger front and rear axles and bolt pattern. Timken roller bearings were 3" same as one ton truck and had America's first 4 wheel disc brakes on the limos.
Only 127 of these rare limos were built in 1955 (plus 45 eight passenger sedans that look like a limo) In my lifetime I've actually seen two of these in a junkyard. Can't believe owners would let them deteriorate like that. A very nice car.
One of the most beautiful American car in the 1950's, reminds me of some of the European cars and Lincoln Continental MK2, for their simple clean lines, compared to flamboyance over to the top design and tail fins craze from Cadillac and others American cars. Overshadowed by Cadillac, but this Imperial have an edge with elegance and beauty.
Georgeous car! Does the estate come with the car? .... Just joking. 😊😊 Thank you for posting this video! Unless one attends the high-end car shows, one never sees a car like this one. Subscribed!
Great overview of the Imperial! just one correction: President Eisenhower did not own the car; it was owned by the federal government - as are all presidential vehicles. After he left office, he and his wife Mamie acquired their first privately owned car (I think it was a basic Plymouth or Dodge).
Thank you for your attention and information. By the informations we collected it results that he and his wife used the car also after he left office. May we ask you to confirm that is correct? Many thanks
I always loved the IMPERIAL as a kid. I think in modern era of Chrysler...the 1955 better yet 1957 thru 1968 were all absolutely beautiful. Maybe one day that classic look will return. I've never understood the concept of truck aka SUV as luxury car. IE. Escalade, Navigator That's biggest laughable hoax perpetrated but it worked. The old saying ; If I build it they will come. Crazy.
The reason is because they quit making luxury cars, and I mean a big heavy car with a big engine. A cramped rough-riding compact with a small noisy engine is not a luxury car.
I'd have to have to have a less perfect standard 55. That way I could drive and enjoy it without constantly worrying about potential damage occurring. If I owned this one it would be kept inside under glass.
Dominican Republic dictator Rafael Leonidas Trujillo have one spacial Black Crown imperial in 1955 to 1961 and his son Ranfis Trujillo after the death of Luigi Segre buy ghia motor company.
The big 3 Detroit car makers used 2 speed automatics for years. They were reliable and didn't get the best mileage but gas was cheap. This was before freeways so high cruising speeds were not necessary, so the 2 speeds were fine. I think the pushbutton automatics were 3 speed torqflites. A great and rugged transmission.
Silent My butt- Sounds pretty much loud like a Small truck in acceleration The front grill And headlight bumper assembly is mind blowing my gorgeous for some reason - must be a G H I A thing
Takes my breath away! I absolutely love the 1955 Imperials, especially the two-door coupe. But this one is spectacular!
It's beautiful, a substantial luxury car classic for all time.
What a beautiful ride! Never seen one before. Thanks for sharing!
True elegance! It would be an honor to ride in such luxury!
1955-56 Imperials are awesome 😎👍
I totally agree

Also, Rockefeller, Mayor of New York City commissioned a 1960 Imperial Limousine by Ghia that is equally impressive.
Great looking cars except for the out of place tail lights. They looked like an after thought and they just tacked them on.
Those were one of the Imperial's signature items, to make it more than just a super Chrysler.
Fantastica vettura con un tocco di eleganza e classe,ché solo il gusto raffinato degli Italiani possono dare!!

I always adored this model. I owned a later (1962) model but it did not have the grandeur that this automobile had. Thank you for sharing.

WOW! GREAT LUXURY! EVEN BETTER ACTUAL (non-COMPUTER) POWERTRAIN! A REAL VEHICLE!
Why was 1955 such a fine year for cars and the ones to follow were not so good? Impy was grand and glorious. Such a dream.
Omg. I dont know which I like more. These or the Series 75 Caddy limos. I'd have to flip a coin lol. Thank you for the video
This is way back in the day when I was a mechanic and MOPAR (more old parts and rust) was the Pinnacle of modern automotive engineering. And they were
Grateful 🙏 I once worked as a chauffeur 😊
Would make Hollywood stars proud!
Linda máquina. Estilosa. E espaçosa. Requintada. E bem desenhada .
What a rare beauty!!!
Nice, elegant automobile! What a work of Art.. It suits you well!!
A very special car. Thank you for sharing.
Stunning!!
That’s a beautiful looking car
Gorgeous car!
Now that's a limousine! It just shouts, "Get out of my way! I'm more important than you are!".
It’s part of history.
Great restoration thanks
Nice car!🌹
Che macchina STUPENDA! E in una forma così impeccabile! 😍😍😍
Magnificent.
The car looks very classic. coupled with the list chrome on the body makes the car look elegant, and I want to have one in my garage.
Beautiful
Now that's a spicy meat-a-ball!
I just wish we could see the engine.
No problem, we’ll show the engine in the future, now it’s under restoration process.
Georgeous car!

Is this limousine for sale?
The car is undergoing some restoration and maintenance work. It will be for sale in some months
Loved the car and the video! But the fluctuations in audio volume drove me crazy!
Ok!
I want a longer, closer look at the tail lights. (WOW)
Ok!!!
❤Un gran auto clasico
Why is there a second am radio under the dash? Or am I making an error?
Did you recast that steering wheel? It looks so shiny!!!👍🏻
No, we didn’t. We just cleaned and polished it.
Movie Star Grace Kelly married Prince Rainier of Monaco in 56 who had two 56 Imperials and her dad had 56 New Yorker.
Would make a good stretch limo
Hello, what a fantastic automobile.. Is she for sale? what would the price be?
Perhaps in the future she will go on sale. Keep in touch
No car like an Imperial!
I'd have to have to have a less perfect standard 55. That way I could drive and enjoy it without constantly worrying about potential damage occurring. If I owned this one it would be kept inside under glass.
Mamma Mia, datza spicy limozzini!
Það var einn svona til hér á land hann stóð oftast á Hávallagötunni held að ég hafi séð hann einusinni síðan í denn.

It's good to be a dictator.
Is it for sale?
Probably in the future yes
I was expecting it to have the famous, but short-lived, Chrysler push-button gear selector.
The push-button selector became available with the 1956 model year.
Could've bleach white the white walls!!!
5.4 ci, not cc😎
For sale? How much?
It will be on sale at the end of the year. We’re working on it to make it to the highest level
The only real drawback for this beautiful car was its obsolete 6-volt electrical system; the car didn't get 12-volt until 1956.
Just use an 8 volt battery and thick 1 gauge battery cables. All you have to do is have your voltage regulator re-calibrated.
This car was apparently the inspiration for the Chinese Hong Qui limousine that Chairman Xi Jin Ping uses.....
Love everything about it except those over-the-top whitewalls, no doubt a “James Brown” touch! 😉
No child, that was the style in the mid-1950s.
Mmmmmmm...Hemispherical combustion Chambers
Hate the tires ! 2 speed Automatic, that was a long time ago !
Not for speeding. For looking very important at the rear with a uniformed chauffeur at the wheel. A standout in any era.
@@jimbimedia Precisely.
Why, were you expecting a dual-clutch with paddle shifters?
