I generally agree with this video, but I feel like the only adaptation where Gwen was not the best love interest for Peter, I would say it’s spectacular Spider-Man show, I say Liz and peter in spectacular Spider-Man was the best love interest she was really holding it down for Peter, and always was there for him, and generally liked Peter for who he was and if Peter was late or couldn’t make it to an event that was important to her or some sort she would understand and always forgave him,if Peter told Liz that he was Spider-Man, she would’ve been undoubtably been the best girl he ever had. For both Peter and Spider-Man.
Gwen Stacy was Peter's greatest love interest. Stan Lee, in multiple interviews, kept saying he wanted to bring back the original Gwen Stacy and he also always said Gwen Stacy is Peter Parker's one true love. Not MJ, who is constantly cheating on him or breaking up with him. Not Felicia Hardy, who is Black Cat after her father and is constantly breaking the law.
Well, I think this is kinda unfair. Stan grew to love MJ and loved writing her the most, even pressuring Marvel to have Peter and MJ get married. He even created his own little universe separate from 616 where they were together that he would write. You’d be surprised how little MJ and Peter have broken up(and she doesn’t cheat that’s just raimi who isn’t a accurate representation of the character at all). Also, I don't see anything wrong with Felicia being Black Cat. Spider-Man has always been about human characters who make mistakes but try to be better. Penalizing Felicia for having that start kinda feels strange.
@AccountNumb you're right, I just said the first thing that came to my head but I definitely do remember Stan did grow to love MJ but ORIGINALLY, Stan Lee DID, at first wanna bring Gwen back and he DID say Gwen Stacy was his true love
@@SlimGod26 when did he say true love? I know he said Peter and Gwen were originally planned to get married but I don’t recall him ever saying Gwen was his “one true love” especially after Peter and mj got together.

For the final time, for all you guys that don't seem to understand. Gwen Stacy 616 IS NOT the same character or person as Gwen Stacy 65! Stop it with the forcing of if trying to make these two individual and separate characters the same. Because they are not!!! I know facts hurt feelings, but that's the truth. Bottom line.
I love Gwen and always found her and Peter’s relationship cute. I honestly wish she was in more adaptations because of how big of a role she plays. But in my opinion, MJ and Peter are my favorite. Their dynamic and parallels are compelling-from being bullied throughout their childhood, having financial problems, and using a jokester personality to hide their insecurities, to starting off immature and learning responsibility. Peter and MJ in the comics help each other grow as people and have so many good stories together that it’s hard for me not to love them. I do think Gwen is such a beautiful character, though, with how much she left an impact on comics in general, (especially on Mary Jane. I see Gwen’s death as an Uncle Ben moment for MJ that gave her tremendous growth.) However, I will disagree with one thing: yes, Gwen was a highlight of Peter’s life, but there was always a problem, especially in the comics, since she never knew he was Spider-Man, which strained their relationship. While some drama in a relationship isn't necessarily bad, it was definitely there with Peter and Gwen.
Also as a idea for a video probably a video about spider-man and his side cast of characters (like flash, jj, aunt may, etc) their best moments and why they’re important to spider-man’s story for better or for worst.
@@meliodas6280i don't think 1 moment from objectively one of the worst spidey comic runs negates almost 60 years of history and character-building. That's like trying to debunk this whole video by saying “Gwen cheated on Peter with the green goblin” (Also, Mj was kidnapped and manipulated into a relationship with Paul.)
Gwen was my favorite love interest on my initial read through of Amazing Spider-Man (and satellites), but I can't really agree with a lot of these. I do think Gwen deeply loved Peter and worked well as a love interest because she was a mirror for Peter. She had the same temper and tendency to jump to conclusions that he did. I love the way she would destroy a fool if they crossed her or breathed a negative word about Peter, and appreciate how she essentially turned him into a popular kid just because she wanted to date him. But lets' not act like she was always a happy thing for Peter. She only exists for 90 issues and she spends half of those hating him or having broke up with him. She had deep issues with Spider-Man which caused him to hesitate in taking his relationship with her to the next level. And then...she was gone. Which is a big deal, because it meant that Mary Jane got to have decades to develop and build her relationship with him. I can't agree that he has no chemistry with MJ, they click almost right away, and though he initially judges her as shallow, and quite frankly, she sort of was initially, because she got the next several decades to develop she was able to build into something that I don't think anyone can compete with in the 616. Present issues excluded of course, because they're a brutal lazy character assassination with no thought designed only to hurt the reader. I would like to see an AU where Gwen wins still, and I'm always happy to get new good Gwen content, but at this point she's definitely number 2.
Wowzers, she was only in 90 issues? That's practically a cameo in series as long-lived as Spider-Man. Although she didn't get to develop as much as MJ did, I think that becoming SUCH a big fixture in the Spider-Man comics that Marvel decided the only options were telling her Peter is Spider-Man or kill her off in so little time speaks to how much was there to work with. At the same time, I like that her run was so short and so abruptly-ended because people really can come and go from your life like that and Death doesn't care if you have anything going on at the time; definitely good that not ALL characters are Gwen Stacy-s, but I think also definitely good that Gwen was Gwen Stacy...And her dad too.

Something I’ve noticed whenever seeing people who like Gwen is that they’ll either overvalue one or two things she does, even though other love interests do the same thing if not better, or just straight up lie about what she's done.
I've believed this for decades. Stan Lee wrote Peter and Gwen to be in love and in both the comics and interviews he's said they were going to get married. MJ went on one date with Peter while Gwen was alive and Peter really wasn't very interested in MJ after he got with Gwen. Gerry Conway killed Gwen in 10 issues of taking over, and has doubled down with things like the clones and Parallel Lives. As a reader I experienced Peter and Gwen falling in love and Marvel comics tie all their stories together across many titles in a really cohesive and immersive manner. So when Gwen dies, Peter kind of just goes on... and he's messed up with the clone coming back and not interested in her, and then he dates other women over the decades and ends up with MJ. He obviously still loves Gwen as you can see from What If 24, Spider-Man Blue and the Celestial judging. Most people grew up with TAS, the Raimi films and the comics where Peter/MJ were married and USM where it was rewritten and have the public statement version where they are the only option, ever. It feels like those crime scenarios where the husband kills the wife to be with the mistress, except it's one writer responsible and there wasn't character motivation. Look at Star Wars, Game of Thrones, Aliens, Terminator etc. where you have new blood taking the story in a different direction and it doesn't work. It's like someone installing a toilet in the middle of a restaurant... you might still enjoy the meals but it really detracts from the experience and suspension of disbelief.
I grew up with the The Amazing Spiderman movies so I always liked Gwen more but a lot of comic fans believe that Gwen wasn't a very good or interesting character who only liked Peter and hated Spiderman and her only interesting story is her death.
