After 2.5yrs of following my GPs and the diabetic australia advice I still failed to reduce my A1c or maintain any meaningful weightloss, i was miserable all the time trying to follow the dietary guidelines. In 4 months of keto and intermittent fasting I got to my ideal weight range and normalised my a1c.. I'm off all meds and my energy is off the charts.. my GP YELLED at me for doing something so dangerous even though my blood work is excellent. The kicker is my GP is more overweight than I was at my heaviest.. I've since changed GPs :D

These doctors including Dr Jason Fung convinced me after 25 years of being T2D to quit my three diabetic drugs and my blood pressure drugs and I fasted 24hours and then went on the Keto diet it’s now been 8 weeks and I’ve lost 30lbs without trying blood sugar has never had a high peak except a little over Christmas Day and blood pressure has dropped dramatically. By speaking out and posting these lectures we can make informed decisions about our lifestyles and get healthy again. Thank you so much and at 80 years old I’ve never been fitter in fact I still have a class 1 Aviation medical. I also sleep 7.5 hours without waking up except when the cat jumps onto the bed. This relief from diabetes has been one of the greatest gifts to the human race and it’s free.

JONATHAN PRIDIE That gives me hope. I’ve been ttd for twenty years, mostly diet controlled. I was afraid to go keto because of all the scare tactics ie ‘you’ll wreck your kidneys’. I managed to lose 10kg by restricting calories. I was able to maintain reasonable control of my bgl’s until recently where it spiked to 19. I started keto 30 g a day, but even though I am in ketosis I haven’t lost more than 1 kilo in six weeks, and couldn’t get my bgl low enough, HbA1c was 10, so I’m on metformin now. I will keep going with the keto because it should be lowering my insulin. I will get there👍😁.
I came off BP meds as well. I ran out one time, and I monitored it for a few days and it was stable, so I just kept going monitoring it at home. Three years later my BP is around 120/60. What a waste of money taking BP medication for up to 20 years for no reason. I chucked away the Lipitor at the same time😁
Good luck in your journey to good health👍🌟

36 years on low fat, plant based, calorie restricted diet, I could NOT get below 155 pounds-much money spent, much exercise exerted.
6 months on high animal fat, moderate protein, less than 20 grams/day of carbohydrates and I fell to my high school weight of 125 and have stabilized for 8 MONTHS! Effortlessly and happily.
Love my 🍳🥩🧈🥓 and daily walk of 15 to 30 minutes, my joyful mood and joint flexibility (inflammation and pain all gone) plus my liver dumping it’s fat.
I eat for energy, not for entertainment.

You're lucky he didn't look at you like you were a piece of excrement, and then tell you, in essence, that you were an idiot, and that your weight loss had nothing to do with what you were talking about. My experience with physicians, is that no matter what it is you're talking about, YOU'RE ALWAYS WRONG (and probably lying). Nice to know there are docs out there, somewhere, who are possibly receptive to input. And truly, it's amazing that a physician actually let you finish a sentence without cutting-you-off. Around here, they won't even let you answer the questions they ASK you (unless you very quickly give monosyllabic answers: a single multi-syllable word answer being too long).

Thank you Dr. Mason! I would consider this presentation a perfect presentation because it does two things that are very important. Number one, it articulates and visually demonstrates a very easily comprehensible primer about the efficacy of low carb diets, and the biochemical mechanisms behind it. This is an ideal presentation for me to send to people who are unfamiliar with the therapeutic benefits of low carb. Number two, if offers relatively new information, that even people who are well versed in the science of low carb, have not been introduced to - namely how a low carb diet can mitigate the destructive effects of seed oil consumption. I have been listening to low carb lectures for years, and this is the first I have heard of this. Very few presentations within the health space can appeal to both newbies to a dietary protocol, as well as seasoned veterans. Keep up the great work Dr. Mason!

Every single doctor I've ever been to is very conventional and most certainly doesn't have Dr. Mason's knowledge and expertise. So sadly doctors like Dr. Mason are as rare as hens teeth here as well.

I had read/watched videos about not worrying about high LDL before, but your comments about the BMJ article reviewing 19 studies has stopped my concern about my LDL going up to 4.8 last October and 5.4 this January and the doctor getting all worked up about it!! I said "I'm not worried" but secretly I was a little! I am doing a keto diet and have lost over 25kg so far. I have started using more saturated fat in my cooking.

this should be made mandatory viewing for all general practioners!.....in last Sundays newspaper in Sydney, we had nutritionists rate numerous diets. The Keto diet scored 1/10 and was rated the worse diet and advised people that it was potentially dangerous and a fad.. So why is that?...are most doctors and nutritionists clueless halfwits? I don't need a stinkin unversity degreee to work out my crappy western diet was killing me. I was doing pretty good on keto and lost 20 lbs- but I plateaued. I was still drinking a little alcohol and eating some processed food/ vegetable oils - though not always on purpose. There's a lot of hidden vegetable and nut seed oils, and emulsifiers. I cut those out by being more careful about reading labels on food. I've found you really have to be careful. And I just quit all alcohol I've also started being more strict about following Keto and have finally started losing the last 15 pounds. I'm down 5 lbs in and I've got 10 more lbs to go.

LDL also inactivates Staph Aureus, which is another reason not to lower it. Uffe Ravenskov, one of the authors of the last study Dr. Mason displayed, told me about it years ago and I couldn't believe it. But he was right. This was an amazing video. Back to reality though, Low carb diets will only worsen the problem of carb resistance. You will lose weight and get off your medication, but the diabeties is still there, and if you eat high carb for a day your blood sugar would be through the roof. Ironically though, a high carb diet is the only way for any keto dieters to get themselves out of the hole they dug. Over time fat in the system will reduce, diabeties will be gone, and you can eat a high carb diet without large blood sugar spikes

One of my "go-tos" is a shake with 8oz hemp milk, 4 tbsp heavy cream, 1 scoop keto powder (keto science), 1 scoop MCT power, a tsp of Creatinine and an 1/8 tsp lions main. 50g fat, 2 g carb and I belive 15g protein. Add a can of sardines with skin and bones and that's a hell of a meal.

Please, yes. Dr. PAUL MASON, please address how we Low Weight individuals can reduce our systemic inflammation and gain/maintain more ideal bmi on a keto or similar diet?
I’m thinking this is more challenging than losing weight.
And, yes, it seems high resistance exercising of major muscle groups would be a necessary part of your recommendations.
(Is adding more carbs AND adding MCT oil/ketone bodies an option? Or just piling on more fat? Or protein?
(Are there any non-animal fats that would help. Ideas I have: macadamia nuts and ??? - most nuts are inflammatory to sensitive-gut people. )
      Thanks, anyone, for thoughts…

From the study: "As dietary carbohydrate decreased, there was a consistent increase in plasma PL arachidonic acid (20:4n6)(...)"
Calculating from table 1 (food contents): 9 % of the high carb diet was PUFA vs. 16 % on the low carb diet, meaning the PUFA-level was disproportionally high in the low carb diet, compared to the high carb diet. May this be the reason for the increased levels of arachidonate on the low carb diet?
