I love Gremlins! You noticed the kid who spilled the water was in Goonies - and if you rewatch Goonies, there's an easter egg when Chunk is trying to tell the police about the bad guys and the officer says something about him calling them about little creatures that multiply in water, lol.

Had a great time seeing this when I was 10 years old in theaters back in 1984. AWESOME score composed and conducted by Jerry Goldsmith. Love that 'Gremlin Rag'. He made a cameo in the movie, as well as the sequel("Gremlins 2: The New Batch"), which he also scored.

Im the same age as you and my uncle from the USA brought over a Gizmo Muppet along with a LP and Story book. And said whatever you do dont get water on him or monsters would come out of his back. This film terrified me as a kid. This film was originally a 15 cert when it came out on video. My friend told me to watch it as she said it was funny. I was 8 years old, after watching it i spent the next 3 months sleeping with the bedroom light on. Lol plus hated walking past the christmas tree.

I remember when the Malls used to always have the camera set up so you could see your self on TV and it would sell the TV and the camera at the same time and they also had the TV that would play back to back full movies , a TV set up with video games and a TV with live cable. These days TVs just play adds and screen savers.

    Great reaction! 😊
This has always been one of my all-time favorite Christmas movies. It's always another one of my must-watch movies every Christmas season.
Fun Fact: This movie, along with "Indiana jones and the Temple of Doom, is what led to the creation of the PG-13 rating.
I very highly recommend the 1990 sequel "Gremlins 2: The New Batch". It's not a Christmas movie, but it's a lot of fun. Definitely worth watching.
And for another Christmas movie, I highly recommend the 1983 "A Christmas Story".
Looking forward to your next reaction. 😊

    Love this movie!
The original script was a lot darker and more violent than the final cut of the movie:
The Gremlins were going to decapitate Billy's mom throw her head down the stairs.
The Gremlins were going to attack a McDonald's restaurant, but instead of eating the burgers, they kill and eat the customers.
Gizmo was going to transform into a gremlin himself in order to stop Stripe, but Steven Spielberg objected this idea as Spielberg wanted the cute little guy to be the hero of the movie.

omg I just realized something. Mrs. deagles death when all you saw was her feet and the chair it was almost a nod to the death of the wicked witch that dorothy's house fell on. Not only that , If I have it right and that's Agnes Moorhead SHe played the mother witch in Bewitched so it's literally stating the gremlins killed the wicked witch of the town lol!

Spielberg produced this, but Joe Dante directed. If you see "Steven Spielberg Presents" before a movie it just means its an Amblin film (his production house). Or, its a cartoon he produced, like Steven Spielberg Presents Tiny Toon Adventures"... or An American Tail.
Dante has a very particular style... equal parts cynacism, Looney Tunes and "Famous Monsters Magazine" (which all 'monster kids' of 50s and 60s grew up on)... and maybe a pinch of that Spielbergian "wonder".

    • @0okamino
      @0okamino 7 месяцев назад

If I didn’t already know it was Allan, I could easily be convinced that Spielberg’s middle name is Ubiquitous. It may as well be, since his first and last name are.

    Sweet Christ! 😳
    Merry Christmas! ✝️ 🙏 🎄 🎁
Fun Fact: Theatrical movie debut of Zach Galligan.
Location Location Fact: The set for Kingston Falls is the same one used for Back to the Future (1985). Both movies were filmed on the Universal Studios backlot.
PG-13 Rating Fact: This movie and Indiana Jones And The Temple Of Doom (1984) are credited with inspiring the MPAA to create the PG-13 rating. Many felt the movies were too violent for a PG rating, but not violent enough for an R rating.
Practical Security Fact: Zach Galligan recounted in an interview that when the movie was made, there was no CGI, so all of the Gremlins were animatronics, each costing between $30-40,000. When everyone left the lot for the day, security would have everyone open the trunks of their cars to make sure they weren't stolen.
Mythology Fact: A gremlin is a mischievous folkloric creature invented at the beginning of the 20th century to originally explain malfunctions in aircraft, and later in other machinery, processes, and their operators. Depictions of these creatures vary widely. Stories about them and references to them as the causes of especially inexplicable technical and mental problems of pilots were especially popular during and after World War II.
Christmas Nightmare Fact: The "Santa Speech" proved to be controversial and studio executives insisted upon its removal because they felt it was too ambiguous as to whether it was supposed to be funny or sad. Director Joe Dante however stubbornly refused to take the scene out saying it represented this movie as a whole, which had a combination of horrific and comedic elements. Executive producer Steven Spielberg did not like the scene, but despite his creative control, he viewed this movie as Dante's project and allowed him to leave it in. Gremlins 2: The New Batch (1990) would later hilariously lampoon this ridiculous speech, which I highly recommend.

Gremlins is my favorite. I watched this in the 80s when I was like 6. We thought the gremlin in the microwave was the most hilarious thing ever and it taught us a good lesson to never put our pets in the microwave. The only part of the film I don’t like is the story of the girl’s dad. It has nothing to do with the plot and no reason to be in the movie and this shouldn’t be how kids found out Santa wasn’t real. I don’t remember that part as a kid so I don’t know if my mom skipped it on purpose or if I didn’t pay attention or what.
