@jamesC Actually not the originals. Only two out of four originals here... missing Tommy and Dee Dee. Marky always did kind of feel like an original to me even though he was the second drummer, the other guys CJ and Richie not so much.

And CJ brought an energy to their shows that they really hadn’t exhibited since the early days. A lineup with CJ and Richie would have been mind blowing .

In my opinion Marky wasn't robotic or boring, he played a lot like Tommy did which isnt surprising as Tommy when he left the band actually gave Marky some training in how he played the drums. Most of the times I saw the Ramones live were in the 1980s, in my opinion the best shows I saw them do were in the early '80s with Marky and Dee Dee.

One of the most influential and important bands ever but never received their due!! It was seeing Johnny and the Ramones live in '78 back home in NYC when I was 13 that inspired me to pick up the guitar...RIP-johnny
Besides this amazing performance (which is a classic bootleg, beloved by all fans around the world), I would like to underline Joey's great vocal register for this particular show, and last but not least, luckily enough, the camera takes Marky's drums most of the time, which allows us to appreciate his famous closed hi-hat technique doing eighth notes at a killer Ramone-like speed. First live RAMONES experience for me was in 1979 at the CNE Stadium in Toronto with 50,000 other luntatics where the boys were opening for AEROSMITH, TED NUGENT and NAZARETH. One of the greatest concerts I ever witnessed.

Had all their albums in high school in the 70s…….they weren’t very popular…..but in a beat up Chevy with mind blower speakers….they sounded pretty good….saw them a couple times at metro…chi town… …..great band …Joey was dope…..
I saw them many times, but during this era, I felt bad for them..Chestnut Cabaret in Philly and Hammerjacks in Baltimore..a few hundred people.. literally like going to your local bar, but the Ramones were playing.. incredible experience, but they deserved so much better..

If you listen to it's alive and the first records, Tommy's the best. The best Ramones records were with Tommy involved. His sound is like a soft beat but embodies the whole Ramones original 70 sound. It's a classic rock n roll drum going fast but with a nice touch. Marky, in the other hand, besides the improves related to speed and cymbal and snare sounds is like a machine..fitting right for the changes that the Ramones were facing through different records that were not like their first ones. Richie belongs to a different Era. A tough hardcore-like one. He is - to me- the most talented one. But he wore the jacket for just a few years and those years were not the best for sure. Marky comes back in the 90's. The band could have been in the same style they were doing with Richie. But then CJ comes in. I don't know what it was but something made a click for better. And The Ramones were strong again, without hard core songs, just Ramones style. They three are great drummers. But I'll stay with the classic, when they were the new thing. TOMMY WAS THERE. EVERYWHERE the Ramones rocked the rock n roll roots for new generations.
I remember seeing them around this time. When they came out and started playing it was like getting punched it was so loud lol. There will never be another band like them.

They three are great drummers. But I'll stay with the classic, when they were the new thing. TOMMY WAS THERE. EVERYWHERE the Ramones rocked the rock n roll roots for new generations.
