A great lesson on how to play the triple back beat. This isn't me; someone downloaded for me a while ago from gospelchops.com, so please pay them a visit.
This guy is sick. I have seen tons of players on youtube, and just as many live in Philly, and this kid can hang. Also, I think he actually has the theory to back it up.
Massive support to your comment! Seems like many people tend to ignore the influence factors such as culture, upbringing, and opportunities for learning has on our behaviour and personal skills. Race does not play into it. Period.
The boy has mad respect from everybody out there! So Stop hatin! Half of yall hatin, and can't even play the same stuff he was playin at 14! If you dont have nothing good to say, then you obviously can't do what he can do and your just mad!
B8 Pro are extremely bright cymbals high in frequency and being made of B8 bronze can create harsh overtones which is why B20 is preffered cymbal material as it as a higher tin content to even out and smooth the mix
Yo Ima stop all this Hating Right now. this dude playin is my homie. Me and him play together A lot. The Boy is Harder than a lot of you musicians out there. HE WAS 14 WHEN HE DID THIS VIDEO! Just think, he was doin all that then, HOW DO YOU THINK HE SOUNDS NOW? He sounds excellent!
Out of all the drummer videos i've seen on here, this is one that i watch over and over. The showmanship is good, but it is also good quality playing. Even though homeboy just acts a complete ass on this video, he still displays control.
@pb0o6 Well you can forget about it. No one is gonna waste the energy to do those fills. Just sit back play ok fills and look cool. That is what the music industry is about
yo, I like that fill at 3:26, please school me on how you can put that alternate time groove in a measure of 4/4. I've heard that before. Hit me up man!
Yeah, it's called Cold Black Piece of Flesh. It's really cheap, I like the second, Escaping the Stupor. It's much better sounding although the vocals include some screams as well as growling, but the music is still death. I love technical music. As a musician it's much more interesting to hear guys playing very technical stuff. Unless you're talking about something else entirely.
farbroblo there are alot of gospel drummers that have made it big, like calvin rodgers marvin mcquitty, spanky, and various drummers on gospelchops. From ur comment it seems to me like ur not very up-to-date on gospel drummers.
@KoivuTheHab I think you'll find that he's very much appreciated my friend. you'll aslo find many of the worlds greatest drummers honed their craft playing Gospel music ^_^.
@pb0o6 Now don't get me wrong music is about having fun, but I think no matter what genre you play always strive to be good at it. The music industry in itself has put too much emphasis on image and not on actually playing. I was trying to make a joke lol. Just play with all your heart
Heck, I would easily be able to PLAY that beat, but I would never come up with it. This is definitely not my own type of playing, but I just love to watch gospel drummers. Sad thing we don't have any churches around that play gospel music.
wtf "he sucks" ? this guy is too simply awesome what he is playing is hard drumming and funky studies, ppl saying that he sucks they just dont know what it's all about it's harder to play this than any stupid extrem loud heavy metal drum solo u can find on youtube
I'm probably gonna get a lot of shit for this, but I agree. Having those chops and that great speed is great, but it doesn't need to be on display ALL the time.
@sweetfly66im in a function band that plays all over england and i've never been fired i put in the right context (not always gospel) as a fill or a beat or with different instrumentation and it works 9/10
Christians were also responsible for the Salem Witch Trials, The Crusades, The Inquisition, trans-Atlantic slavery, apartheid in South Africa, slavery and Jim Crow in the United States, colonization of Asia, the Pacific Islands, and Africa and South America. The Catholic Church turned blind eyes to slavery and the holocaust. Christians have a lot of blood on their hands, and yet they go unpunished.
theres a lot of things just not in gospel music that if u tried it in most other musical contexts u would get fired. I play a lot of left foot clave but i wouldnt just start playing that stuff in every context
Over a decade and it still amazes me.
Thank you so much!
What up guys! Thank you so much for watching! If you’d like to see more of my content, feel free to subscribe to my channel! Much love to everyone 🙏🏾

SICK....PURELY SICK...Who in all these comments really REALLY cares about ANYTHING else but this dude's chops!?

As long as he's in the pocket. That's what's important as a drummer. It's all about the groove.
amazing drummer. whoever this is, never stop playing!
Check him out now on insta!
this is still one of my favorite gc videos

I can NOT get enough of his licks at 0:06 through 0:20!!!!
that was maadd helpful and it sound soo much sicker when you incorporate it on the toms as wellXD
Thats all needed, just tastefully and not overplayed.
great chop, excellent video
hey dan frost, u wouldn't happen 2 know what type of rudimental stuff he was dfoin' in the fast fill at the very beginning of the vid do u?
at 3.27 u miss a semi quaver (i think) and sorta reverse the feel and go in to some triplet fills...how the hell do u keep in time so well????
Finally learned how to play that intro
Out of all the drummer videos i've seen on here, this is one that i watch over and over. The showmanship is good, but it is also good quality playing. Even though homeboy just acts a complete ass on this video, he still displays control.
This brotha is just seriously nice..

He went Hard on them set!!!

Nice! This gospel stuff is tight, it's all fast linear triplet feel.
What he did starting in 30 seconds and finishing 35 seconds ???
ohhh great stuff man!
Thank you.
Very melodic! Great!!! :)
@KoivuTheHab I think you'll find that he's very much appreciated my friend. you'll aslo find many of the worlds greatest drummers honed their craft playing Gospel music ^_^.

i think by myself christian religion is crap, but damn, i wanna go to a church like this too man

Yeah... okay... It's really called playing GHOST NOTES. The back beat is there with out a doubt. To call it a triple back beat is silly.
This guy is too good to be playing on B8s.
that's how u worship
Cool.
sticking please
time for another collection...lol
TRUTH
that track is cold. i tried to make one like it. it was hot but not like that track.
A white drummer, latin drummer, asian drummer, and black drummer will always have their own sound each one...
nice
i dont believe in the lord but lord i believe this guy plays like a mer fer
