The sad thing about the Dark Side is that in order to keep growing in power you have to inflict fear and pain on people, that’s why Vader is so overtly cruel and evil now.

    • @Rocket1377
      @Rocket1377 2 месяца назад +13

Exactly. It's the same reason why he slaughtered all the Jedi (including younglings) in the temple. Anakin decided that he needed Dark Side powers to save Padme. That escalated into needing that power to defeat Sidious.

There are two sides of the star wars fandom. The people who only watch live action stuff and the people who watch pretty much everything. Most of the time the people who only watch live action do not even realize what they are missing out on so they do not realize its even spoilers or out of order.

Hayden is the sweetest person ever. I met him at FanExpo Boston last year and he was kind and excited to be with the fans, and I could barely say everything I wanted to tell him in the short time I had to meet him. But I shook his hand and that was the coolest thing ever. I’m very thankful he was a part of Star Wars and still is.

Yes! Exactly, qui gon was the father anakin needed. Palpatine was so easily able to manipulate and groom anakin because he wasn’t getting that love, support, and positive reinforcement anywhere else for the longest time. Not to knock Obi wan, like you said, he did the best he could, but he wasn’t ready for that mentor role yet. If qui gon had lived, trained anakin, and been his mentor I fully believe he wouldn’t have fallen.

The Thrawn novels in no way inspired Lucas to make the Prequels. The Prequels were already being planned the moment Lucas started production of Empire Strikes Back, just that he waited for film technology to advance further to match the scope of his ideas.

I dont think he meant the thrawn novels inspired the ideas in the prequels. It’s just that star wars hype had really died down and the thrawn novels revived it and star wars became very popular again. I think george probably saw that and was more motivated to make new films

13:50 Theres a reason the music playing in the fight between Maul, Obi and Qui is called "duel of the fates" They are LITERALLY duelling for the fate of Anakin Skywalker. If Qui hadn't died he would've trained Anakin differently and I doubt he would've allowed the Chancelor to have any influence over him at all. Sideous actually feared Qui Gon Jinn of all the Jedi he was the only one that was acting like a proper Jedi.

Honestly, if you can find it anywhere, I really think you should watch and react to "The Beginning". It was the BTS documentary on The Phantom Menace that was included in the original DVD release of that movie. I don't know if any modern disc release or D+ has it, but I think it's on RUclips as well. It's such a great look into that film and even though haters pull pieces from it to make fun of it only shows just how thoroughly they don't get it. It's one of my favorite BTS documentaries and helps me appreciate my all-time favorite movie even more.

  • @j0hn00

Notice this. Anakin was a slave, his entire life, until his last moments. He was a slave on tattooine, he was a slave to the Jedi order, he was a slave to his emotions. He was a slave to Palpatine. His only free moments were his very last moments with Luke. "I must save you, father." "You already have." Luke freed him from his slavery. He was finally free for the first time in his life. He was ready to go. As his mother said to him in AotC as she laid eyes on her son for the last time, "I am now complete." Anakin laid his true eyes on his son for the last time, he was now complete, and let go of it all. This is why he was able to become a Force ghost. He finally learned to let go of all of his negative emotions and became a being of the Light

Obi-Wan was destined to fail with Anakin. He viewed anakin as a little brother who in turn, viewed obi wan as a father.
Obi is the best. Smart charming sexy and powerful. Of course anakin was jealous. Obi was arrogant. You’ll see it more in the clone wars but he gets his.

Anakin's major problem, from my understanding, wasn't just that he "had a hard time letting go of things" as George Lucas was saying. There was also the fact that, from everything I've seen of him, he had a very bad habit of blaming himself for things that were beyond his control and weren't his fault.

That is the tragedy. Obi-Wan was forced to take Anakin a child he deemed ‘dangerous’ on the wishes of his master and while he did care for Anakin in the end you don’t feel that pain for someone who fell so far Obi-Wan’s initial faith in Anakin was not the same as the faith Qui-Gon had.
Also on the subject of novels I also recommend ‘Brotherhood’ it shows how Obi-Wan and Anakin go from teacher and student in AOTC to the brothers who would die for one another in Clone Wars and ROTS.

When it comes to Yoda, he is wise, but sometimes he doesn’t understand people’s emotions. The advice he gave to Anakin in ep. 3 is horrible advice. Anakin was afraid of losing the people he cares about, and Yoda tells him to not miss or grieve them. I know Yoda is hundreds of years old and I’m sure he’s lost people he cared about many times, but not everyone has his lifespan. It reminds me of something Geralt said to Regis in the Witcher 3: Blood and Wine expansion, “Man who’s got a million crowns to spend can’t possibly understand one who’s only got twenty.”

It's a common misconception that the Jedi Order kidnapped children from their families for training. I don't know where it started but it's not true. When the Jedi would locate a child that was strong in the Force, they would try to persuade the parents of said child into handing them over to the Order for training. They did not do this through intimidation or force, but by explaining to the parents the good that their child could do for the galaxy if they were properly trained, and if the family lived on some backwater outer-rim world, just being able to send their children to live in the Jedi Temple on Coruscant would have been very tempting.
I think some people watched a certain episode of The Clone Wars and took away the completely wrong lesson.

Of all the Jedi Masters we see, I think Yoda might be one of the most open to new ideas (after Qui-Gon and a few nutters). They're all extremely locked into the Jedi dogma, of course, but Yoda does, for example, accept the possibility that the Jedi archive could have been tampered with.
