    Hi Sis, I've been gardening for many years & still learned a lot watching your videos. You are an excellent teacher. My parents had me in the garden as soon as I could walk & I'm now in my 60s. So you keep growing, I'm still learning. Blessings. 🤗💚👍🏾

    Hay Ms Asia! This was super helpful, thank you! I'm watching video after video, trying to learn as much before I start planting. I'm going to give tomatoes, peas, carrots, onions, courgettes, lettuce and green bell peppers a try in the next week. It's spring time in South Africa. Fingers crossed! Thanks for the encouragement! Also, you and your garden are badass. Appreciate how authentic your videos are! Much love, Tas x

    I planted two 72 cell trays, put them in my new tiny greenhouse and it blew over (twice) before I had a chance to secure it properly. One tray was just soil in the cells one was peat pellets. I put the peat pellets back in (twice) and put the soil back in half the cells and the other half I just tossed in the half tray in one big pile (twice). I was floored that so many of the pellets were growing, even in the messy tray I have seeds sprouting. Seeds want to grow. You are right, it’s not scary...ITS AMAZING. I don’t know what anything is yet because all the time I took to label was for not, but soon I’ll know what most are. Happy planting, Life is WONDERFUL ❤️ (I think I’ll go with peat pellets from now on just because more of those made it through the seednado.) 🥳

      O no! I have been fortunate enough to never have had mine blown over. I think the fence and house should a lot of the wind. Happy your seeds in the peat pellets survived. Hopefully you can decipher what is what soon. I suppose there will be variety surprises once they start producing fruits!

    I use sandpaper to scar my seeds. The higher the number the finer grit on the sandpaper. So if you want to be careful pick a higher number. And thank you for the idea to cut up my yogurt containers for labels. Now I can enjoy my yogurt without guilt.

    Impressive seedlings! 🌱 I just put up a greenhouse. I’m shocked how hot it is in there on a cloudy day at 12 noon. I dang near cooked my seedlings. 🔥

    Great Information TFS. I'm excited about starting my 1st garden this year. When the seed packet states 6-8 weeks before your last frost, are you able to germinate them after this time frame using grow lights or is it best to sow them outside?

    • @YellowDoorUrbanHomestead
      @YellowDoorUrbanHomestead  2 года назад +4

      O yay! Congrats on your first garden! Yes you can still germinate them inside. You may have to transplant them out a little later than other people. As long as you have enough days in your growing season for the maturity date. Example: I’ll be starting more determinate tomatoes halfway through my season for a second crop. As long as you have time for maturity you can start the seeds inside. Happy growing!

    Ms. Asia, new wannabe gardener how long aft separating seedlings do they stay in germination station ➡️ greenhouse or ground/pot? Thanks 💐 very helpful vid

      Oh and the lavender info was 😯 know wonder mine nvr germinate. 🙄💐

    • @YellowDoorUrbanHomestead
      @YellowDoorUrbanHomestead  Год назад

      Hi! We leave them in the germination station until they are about 4 or 6 weeks. I’ll start putting them in the greenhouse after that in the daytime. If it’s still freezing at night I bring them in at night. It can be all over place with me sometimes but that’s normally what I like it to do.

    Does your mini greenhouse keep seedlings warm enough in the winter months, February temperatures?

    • @YellowDoorUrbanHomestead
      @YellowDoorUrbanHomestead  2 года назад +1

      I’ve never tried it. However, without some source of heat I don’t believe it would keep them warm enough in February in my zone. February is one of our coldest months. Hope this helps.

    • @theurbanthirdhomestead
      @theurbanthirdhomestead Год назад +1

      I think I heard that whatever temp it is outside, your greenhouse should add 10 degrees warmer.
