I have this theory in my head that if Conrad sent Terran borne to nostromo to oversee the recruitment of his legion they wouldn’t have turned out the way they did. Those Terran borne marines would also fix the peace I think cause the night haunter would be in a way back and never left.
They would get into conflict with Gendor Skraivok though. A Nostraman Noble tyrned Astartes who was responsible for inducting the most deranged degenerates into his Legion.

Personally, I agree with quite a bit that you had shared,especially regarding fans that enjoy them as they can relate to certain characters from that Legion, and yes, I agree that they are objectively bad and a necessary evil, and yes, Talos is an exception to that rule, which is interesting as he was Nostraman-born. I am planning to make my own 40K character who is Terran-born from the days of the Great Crusade who finds his way into 40K and is appalled at what he sees in the Legion and wishes to help Decimus to bring back that old unity of what the Night Lords were before Curze reunited with the Legion. All the while still being evil of course. 🤣

I think Kurze going insane and skinning relatively innocent people(or at least not trying them BEFORE skinning) was a bigger reason. I've heard a bunch of people say that there's two kinds of people: the ones who love the Night Lords, and the ones who haven't read the omnibus. I'd say I'm proof there's a third category; I had no opinion on them at all before reading the trilogy, and thoroughly hate them now. Everyone kept saying how good the books were, so I persevered despite not enjoying myself at all, right up to the skinning pits on Saguelsa (Spelling?). At that point I stopped and asked myself why the hell I was still subjecting myself to that misery, and went and read the synopsis of the last few chapters instead. I'd already been told that the trilogy was supposed to be a tragedy, and fully expected all of the main characters to die, but frankly they weren't dying fast enough...
I love the Night Lords. I definitely prefer what they were as opposed to what they are now, and yes theyre aesthetics are sick. That said painting a night lords army with thousands of lightning bolts. . . . Will make you question your life choices.
That’s why the 8th will always play second fiddle to the 3rd for me. Both legions in 40k are evil beyond belief but where the NL are cowards and somewhat depressing the EC are bombastic and fun. It’s the total vibe shift from the bright and loud, hard and heavy 80s to the grunge and gloomy, edgy 90s/00s.
This is similar to what the military does. They don't like following orders that are seen as inhumane, but as long as it doesn't get out to the public at large, they are willing to do reprehensible things if it is necessary

What really made me give the nightlords a chance was when i started learning about their original purpose and the tragedy of Kurz. Its all such a sad mess, but it made me like them more as a faction. I like the generic good guys as well but I'm halfway through Nightlord trilogy and it's great. Yes the legion is "evil" but there are definitely layers to just how evil.
Without the MPD Conrad Curs would have been like the alternate universe Batman from the Justus Lords(from the animated Justice league) where as the night haunter is more the version of batman from the crime syndicate alternate universe from the comics, The fact of the matter is what they were supposed to be a blend of a lot of what the inquisition is except that it would have been more about sedition and organized crime than not worshiping the emperor or doing it incorrectly with what the adeptus arbitrese actually are.
They were supposed to be LAWFUL Evil, but they just devolved into Pure EVIL. I completely disagree that they aren't relatable! I have a buddy who served over seas and was forced to kill innocent civilians in the name of PEACE. And now feels like a Monster because he served with Monsters who took pleasure in it... So, no, I totally get it if people relate to them.

It was this "cowardice" element, they were shown (from the loyalist lens primarily) to be bullies and sadists rather than warriors. They also didn't trust their fellows or work well together, which made them less effective in marine v marine combat in units. This lack of conviction to take part in a stand-up, face-to-face fight with Dark Angels and Ultramarines led to this belief. They'd rather sneak up behind a loyalist and stab him in the back. But they _did_ have a number of very efficient warriors - Savatar being the best known example. This was then reinforced in the NL trilogy from the perspective of Talos, who didn't really think much of the Legion's warriors.
Due to their preferred tactics, they have the least combat experience, they fight primarily civilians/guardsmen, and only with great advantage, they also usually only have to conquer a single city, rather than the full planet, hence why they lack the tactical and strategic knowledge of most legions.

After that, I now have a fully painted night lord army worth some Allied Knights. I will be honest I thought you were going to try to convince everyone that night lord‘s ain’t shit and don’t matter like some other people on the Internet. Like I don’t like tau, hell I’ll make jokes about discontinuing them. But I’m never gonna say don’t collect them though. Anyway I like the video keep up the good work.

So I really enjoy this series, but I feel like you're spending a lot of time reiterating yourself instead of presenting new ideas or concepts. I understand there is an incentive to hit a certain runtime, but maybe if you cut some of the fat and replaced it with excerpts from the books or codexes it would hit better. Hope to see you keep doing this and improving your script writing
The thing is, that's part of it, people have this warped idea of factions, so I try and hammer home what they get wrong, because they may watch this 20+ min video, once, but they'll see 7 memes that are just false, so I really try and hit home the main point of it all, but I do like the idea of adding the excerpts.
