- NOMAD SCULPTING - New Release - Radial Symmetry
Radial symmetry in Nomad is a type of symmetry that radiates from a central point. You can see it in nature in creature like a starfish and of course lots of plants. You can see it in manufactured things like wheels and even on a plain of vase.
The Nomad app just got the ability to use Radial Symmetry and this week we we take a quick look at how you use it and see how it can really help you in your modeling.

It’s getting so advanced now I am constantly blown away by what artist are achieving with it. Radial symmetry has been high on my wish list. What’s the TOP three things you would like to see from Nomad next?
A rudimentary bone deformation system for posing after modeling would be amazing! Oh, and that particle engine ;)
I am so excited by how fast the app developed till now. I like making characters so a pose tool or armature would be nice
Stencil projection painting with colour brushes. UVs but it is workable to bake those after reducing and unwrapping the model on a computer. Automatic validation and voxel merging of inserted primitives, after inserting a new one, would be fun.
It is amazing how much we are getting. The value we are getting form a one time purchase feels criminal! I would love to see a polish brush similar to Zbrush. In the same vein a move infinite.
Animation
Really cool. Being an Environment artist, really like to see more of this, in rhe form of a series that includes Nomad, Cozy blanket and procreate for hard surface baking using objects like modular pipe kits, furniture, scifi crates, trimsheets and tiling Textures.
A real game-changer right here! Late to the party, I know, but I've been wondering if we could do this in Nomad - and here it is. Thanks again!
No problem and glad you like it!
One tip I'd like to add is that the Red/Green/Blue planes in the modeling window correspond to the X/Y/Z axes in the symmetry tab. A time saver for those new to 3D modeling!
Really good build. Thanks.
Psyched! The way Nomad keeps evolving, I’m not sure I’ll ever need Zbrush. Thanks 🙏☕️🎩🎩🎩 Any predictions for an EXTRUDE function???
The issue with an extrude function is that it would mean that there were polygon manipulation tools in the pipeline line and as much as I would KILL for that I can't see it being high on Stéphane's list. I hope I'm wrong. I need poly tools ion the iPad right now!
@@SouthernGFX Super noob here, Glen, what is a Polygon manipulation tool, or a Poly tool?
@@SouthernGFX That makes sense. I’m trying ways around it, conforming to the Nomad tools. Can always go back & forth to Blender, but…It’s all coming to the iPad eventually. ✌️🎩
I second that. At the moment I love the colors on the interface of Nomad.
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥going to play around with this tonight! Going to attempt to sculpt my own printable vase. You did an amazing job of explaining how this works
Nomad just keeps getting better and better! I can always count on you to give us the lowdown on the new features in a clear and concise manner. Thanks Glen!
Thank YOU for the videos…I have been learning a lot and applying it to my work and then 3D print it! I am a old dog learning new tricks😎
It's a pleasure and I am really glad they have been helpful
To silence out walls completely You need triangle pyramidlike multiple cloned. Musicians use it very often in their studio.
Love Nomad and your tutorials/videos. Thanks for the upload.
You continue to inspire me! ❤❤❤
That is very kind of you to say so.
That is astounding! So so cool!
A great intro to this new feature. Nomad is so much fun. Thank you!👍
Ohhhh!!! Can’t wait to take a look!
Thanks for another great vid Glenn. Thumbs up.
Oooohh this is a game changer! Thanks Glenn awesome video m!
Wow!. Thanks for breaking it down for us! 🙏✌🤩
My pleasure!!
Hey man as always great job! Great artistry
Nice video, Glen! I couldn’t stop making chunky tires the past few days. 😜
I have been waiting for this one! Yay!
Thank you very much for teaching us!
gfx your awesome man, thanks alot
It's a pleasure, thanks
This was great! I'm wondering how hard it would be to create seamless textures around an object going forward from this new tool. this is my only program for sculpting, but I know wrapping textures around objects is done in other programs. this was a brilliant edition to Nomad, and I'm sure its only a matter of time until we move from this to texturing around a surface.
Thanks for this awesome tutorial!
I’ve been waiting on this to make eyes and Architectural Columns!!!!!
Hahah I remember doing ZBrush videos about 7 years ago showing how to make eyeballs in ZBrush with radial symmetry. How time flys

Really looking forward to your tutorials, youve earned a new subscriber 🤟
Been looking forward to this. Glad for the vid
We could probably make some lamp out of this model by adding inside 2nd smaller object. The only thing would be, how can we make it be bright by itself, so that light would cone out from inside?
Nice tutorial sir ❤❤❤
Thanks and you are very welcome
Awesome content!!! You helped me so much! Would you know the best way to do 360 gif like in turntable. I would very much love to save my work in some kind of loop 360, but can’t seem to find an easy way to do it.
7:31 Okay, you did "extract" and then "solo" to cut out the filigree. But exactly where is "solo"? There is no indication on your screen. I'm lost if you don't point to what you're clicking. I'm still learning my way around Nomad. Thanks.
Thank
Shweeeeeet! 😄🤙⚡️
I missed somethin. At 7:31 you extracted and then said 'Solo.' The parts not masked vanished...solo? It looks like the video was edited right there. So you deselected that layer right?
Yah an explanation would be nice.
In the bottom left bar between LOCK and MASK is the SOLO button that only shows the currently selected item(s) in this case the shell.
@@-raccoonbar-7701 awesome thanks. Max calls it isolate! Second day in Nomad sculpt ).
@@-raccoonbar-7701 I had not noticed that before thanks! I'm falling behind....but sooo glad Glen is my tour guide.
If I could do the Homer drool gif, I would.
I'm going to make tires
I’m going to make wheel rims…maybe we should go into business together…or competition? 🤔🍺✌️
Mine looks different :/
im sorry this tip doesnt work for me
