@davidolujinmi1919 1 - Not normal. I live in a house with immigrants of 18 years. They still have their same accents.2 - With Kate you can't even argue that her accent has changed from living abroad. She literally goes back to her English accent when talking to English people and then changes to American accent when talking to Americans.
Kate is one of the best sports hosts out there... Clint brought up exactly why i think she is so great... She reads the room and the flow of the convo so well that the questions she asks and when she asks them is perfect. Her bringing in her personality, as also mentioned, is another big reason. You can tell she helps to loosen up the guests. I'm glad she is getting as many gigs as she has

she is my biggest inspiration. i want to be a broadcast journalist as well and i want to do her job. i love kate so much. she’s such a powerful women
On so many levels I just love her work and personality... a breath of fresh air.
Kate is cemented as part of global soccer now. She is the anchor of any group she’s part of. She’s in charge of the room with out being over bearing or too eager to “show” she’s in charge. It’s inspiring to see someone move fluidly and be soo prepared and knowledgeable. Absolutely love her and will always be excited to see her on broadcast.
I dont mean to sound corny, but Kate is so captivating. Every time she's on the screen I want to hear her more than anyone else she's with. Clint Dempsey is my favorite American player ever, but I just wanna know what Kate has to say. That's been the case for years.
She is extraordinary in her job. Its not corny she is very talented and entertaining.

Can tell why she good as languages as She def mirrors people as def picks up diff accents as sounds American here and def certain sentences but on other shows she speaks English accent and her when back home her manc accent comes out more

Great that Kate has been given the spotlight here - so great to hear her story a bit more.
FYI the accent, anyone who has lived in another place/culture or spent much time with people from another culture knows this happens so naturally, you don't mean to change your accent, it's a total subconscious thing where it happens without you meaning to. I guess a natural form of adaption, as people are not always understanding you etc. It's totally not something she's done on purpose.

Being British, I can say that her accent goes all over the place, but more American than English.
You haven't met enough English people in your life if you think are accent is all english. Also she's from Manchester , you can't compare her "Manchester accent" to that of Marcus Rashford or Gary Neville or Noel Gallagher for example

There is no correct way to say it. Americans say soccer because we already have another sport called football. Different countries call it different things and it is what it is. It’s no different then Spanish speaking countries using different words for the same thing. Except you don’t see them going around trying to “correct” each other.

Yuppppppppppp , right on point with her career, the US is where Kate is comfortable, the cast she surrounded herself with just fell into what America is, Big, big laughs, big humor, food, we talk about money openly, our dressing styles without caring who is listening or looking.

Why is her accent American one minute then English the next?
This can be done automatically depending on the other person.
It's normal to shift your accent to match the people you're speaking with, and she's surrounded by Americans. This happens to varying degrees, and probably happens more with people who speak many languages.
Not to this degree... this sounds like someone trying out/showing off an American impersonation almost.
@@Si-ni1wk She doesn't need to try anything, because she can do it and because she can do it, she does it. She is faster than others and the more empathetic you are, the faster the adaptation to the other person is. When you move from one state to another and live there for a while, you pick up more and more accent and you don't notice it. With linguistically gifted and empathetic people, everything happens much faster. This is not controlled. You only decide which language you want to speak now and the accent adapts to the other person. A completely natural normal process. Of course, the accent doesn't reach the level of the other person in its entirety, but it's close and maybe tempting sounding for people like you.
