I am 58 yrs old I love this songs .
I am 76 years old and have been fortunate enough to witness rock and roll from the beginnings till now. I have been wheel chair bound for 11 months. The last song that I danced to was Rasputin which at the time was the only Boney M song that I ever heard. Not much airtime in western Canada? Boy did my eyes and ears get opened. Nothing but Boney M the last 6 months. Started with Belfast and has not stopped. Ribbons of Blue brought tears to my eyes. Boney M has kicked Mick and Tina off their pedestals. Thank you Liz, Marcia and Maizie and everyone else in the Boney M group. You have given me much pleasure in my life.
I have a story about Rasputin i had a old mix album in the late 80s and the first song was Boney M So i use to drop the needle on song 2. But one day i forgot and as it played i realized it was the song i would dance to at the night club.

I’m 28 years old and I grew up listening to this music since my dad absolutely loved it and played it all the time. So he definitely passed the passion for music of this era to me:) sadly he passed away last year, and any time I listen to the songs that he loved it reminds me of him.

As a teenager in Ireland when this song came out, they seemed the most unlikely group /style of music in which to release a 'protest' song about the troubles in Northern Ireland, ( if that's indeed what it was) I never really listened to the lyrics but was happy that Belfast was mentioned, Boney M always seemed slightly bonkers, the kind of unapologetic Euro pop that just wins you over with its catchiness, now i love them, still can't believe they released this one though!
I think it is really meant as a protest song about the troubles in Northern Ireland. Here some of the lyrics:
