Rock & Roll, originated by African Americans, appreciated by the white man and taken over. Funk, originated by bass, appreciated by the white man who is gradually taking over. Jazz, originated by Blacks, appreciated by the white man who is also now in control. What do the African Americans now sing? Shallow, soulless Hip Hop and R&B. The era of meaningful, powerful hip hop and R & B all but a fading memory. Afro Beats Jazz, originated by Fela Anikulapo Kuti, Caucasian bands like Antibalas, Paca Massive and so many others in Europe, particularly France where Fela's original drummer is based, now getting seriously into it. One day it too will become a mainstay for the White man and the African man will start screaming "Racism". The black man is his own problem. He never has long term appreciation of anything of beauty!!!
Most of the Tin Pan Alley publishers and songwriters were Jewish-as they were denied work in other professions, a new, unestablished industry became the best path toward becoming successful players in a emerging music industry. If you think that black music is now just soulless, shallow RnB, maybe you need to look beyond the billboard 100 for inspiration. What about Cory Henry, Robert Glasper, Jill Scott, Anderson Paak,etc. Many of there new artists are breaking new ground and mixing jazz, funk and blues with everything else. To accused white people of stealing our music is absurd. If you love classical music then learn to play the cello or sing opera, does that make you a thief?
