  • This is a DeWalt D26676 Planer Review (5.5 amp) Unbiased Review. If you want to know the truth about Dewalt hand planers you came to the right place. In this video I take a brand new dewalt hand planer out of the box and review it. I also show the D26676 in action. I love this hand planer but don't lose the directions or any pieces because I eventually broke this when trying to change the blade. It was my fault for losing the parts. It is a great planer if you use only the tools that come with it and follow the directions.

Found a video of un boxing and it ended. found a video of them un boxing and flipped to using it. I found this video which was helpful in letting me know I really didn't need to worry about the extra pieces that have near to impossible instructional pictures. Ty

Yeah I felt the same when I unboxed the planer. That stuff acts as a guide rail. I never use it. I just plane and then sand with really big grain sand paper on my Dewalt electric sander and Diablo sand paper.
ruclips.net/video/l86I8ryBUtM/видео.html Then I use a finer grain and I'm done. I want to get one of those table planers one day where you just run the entire board through it like a table saw.

It's a great planer. Keep in mind the blades need sharpened or changed from time to time.

I have 2 friends, one has the 20V Battery type and the other has the same planer only electric. I was able to try both. I do like the Battery one, it's easier to work in places where you might not have power but I would the battery one will only work for about 20 min's and the battery is dead. The electric is just as good as planning and you don't have to worry about running out of power. Again the only down side is you can't work in places where you have to electric source. I myself brought the electric one.

Thanks for the comment about Dewalt electric planers. That is one of the best and most helpful comments I've seen on RUclips in a long time. Your point about the power cord is spot on. I appreciate what you said because it is helpful to those trying to learn more about planers. Thanks again!

    Dewalt makes the worst planner.
You have to have a tool to adjust the blades when you replace them.

I learned that the hard way. I tried to change the blade and destroyed it because small pieces went flying everywhere.

@Edwin Garcia I would probably not buy it again. Porter Cable makes a good tool in general but It depends on the individual tool in my experience. Dewalt makes a better Sawzall than Porter cable but I like my Porter Cable router better than my Dewalt. In terms of the planer I wish I had taken better care of it. I can't believe I'm saying this but my Ryobi electric hand planer has lasted the longest at a fraction of the price. Last, the planers cut about 4 inches per pass and I usually run them on 2x8, 2x10 and 2x12 foot boards approximately 10 feet long..
