Ah, Dark Tranquillity brings back so many memories ! My first gig ever was with them in 2002 (Damage Done tour), and my God, I wasn't ready for this. The energy between them and the audience in small venues is phenomenal. I never saw the two friends whom with I was so exhausted in our entire lives ... They released footage of the same tour in their first DVD : in Greece, the audience sang so loud that they had to stop playing and ask them, laughing, to make less noise - the audience did the contrary, obviously ^^
Last time I saw them in my country, a girl crowd-surfed with her wheelchair too ; she spent the rest of the song on the stage with them. Mickael, the singer, is really kind. Usually after the show he comes and talk with the fans.
Ah... one of the underrated Swedish bands from Gothenburg... Dark Tranquility were formed in 1989 and took the name in 1991, emerging as a death metal band initially... but evolving w/ more electronic and melodic elements to progress into one of the most successful heavy metal bands from Sweden... Vocalist Mikael Stanne is the only original member of Dark Tranquility... Stanne was the original vocalist of In Flames, the Gothenburg melodic metal band that broke big in the 2000's w/ vocalist Anders Friden (who was an early member of Dark Tranquility)... Mikael Stanne also recently joined the band The Halo Effect on vocals, consisting of 4 former members of In Flames and has released new music.
Mikael Stanne formed Dark Tranquility originally as a guitarist w/ longtime members Anders Jivarp (drums), Niklas Sundin (guitar)... (Both left by 2021) The band debuted in 1993 w/ the album 'Skydancer'... w/ vocalist Anders Friden... Mikael Stanne took over lead vocals in 1994 for the 2nd album 'The Gallery' in 1995... and "The Mind's I" (1997)
It was Dark Tranquility's 4th album 'Projector' (1999) that made a significant progression w/ keyboards & programming and got acclaim in the metal scene... Martin Brandstrom (keyboards) joined the band that year as well...
Since 2000, Dark Tranquility has continued to deliver stellar heavy metal records - 'Haven' (2000)... 'Damage Done' (2002) ... 'Character' (2005) ... 'Fiction' (2007)... 'We are the Void' (2010) ... 'Construct' (2016)
The album 'Atoma' was released in 2016 and Dark Tranquility did very well in Europe and Japan... Their latest album was 'Moment' (2020)
Lately, Mikael Stanne has been busy w/ The Halo Effect, releasing their debut album 'Days of the Lost' in 2022... a new album is due out in 2024.
Dark Tranquility had revamped their line up w/ Stanne and Brandstrom joined by Johan Reinholz (guitar), Christian Jansson (bass) and Joakim Strandberg Nilsson (drums) ... and are planning new music.

They are a blast to watch live, especially if you can catch them in a small venue. Mikael was getting right down in the selfies with the fans. The energy they share with the crowd is phenomenal. It's not just a performance, it's an experience.
I've seen then live 4 times and I will be at the next show in the area. Awesome atmosphere every time!
Last concert I was at, a fan gave them a photo album of the ten shows he'd seen them at. Mikael was a bit speechless^^

Great band, you'd probably also like Halo Effect with the same singer and some of the same members. Their song and video for "Shadowminds" is pretty cool.
WOW, another awesome reaction to another obscure death metal band! I have always liked this band. I have been a fan of theirs for nearly 30 years. LOVE IT!
Dark Tranquility are one of the cornerstones of the Swedish Melodic Death Metal movement that started in the 90's. Unlike some of those bands, they have remained pretty true to their roots. Singer Mikael Stanne has such a fantastic baritone singing voice and his harsh vocals are also top notch. He also writes some fantastic lyrics. Great reaction ladies!

Rare clean vocals. Dark tranquility is awesome, I got almost all their cd's. The grunts are very easy to understand, contrary to lots of other grunters where you have to get the lyrics to 'get' what's sung....grunted.
And yeah....metal....agressive music and people right? Hugging the guy in the wheelchair who was put there by metal brothers in the front....one for all, all for one.
Well, I mean it depends on the album. Projector, Atoma and Moment are albums with a lot of clean vocals, there are a few on Construct as well, and I'm pretty sure the upcoming one will have them too.
This here show was actually when I first discovered them and they were mind-blowing. They are my favourite band since then.
Awesome they were requested, have not seen a video of theirs since the Milan show.
Thanks for your reaction (i'm really late, i know 🙈😄), really, really cool! The singer, Mikael Stanne is just such a good human being and the entire metal community is really inclusive. Fun fact, one of the guitarists (guess which one) is Michael Amotts (Founder and Guitarist of Arch Enemy) brother.

Absolutely love it that you react to this band. one of the greats who are at the foundation of what came to be known as the Gothenburg sound, the start of the melodic death metal scene. Mikael Stanne has a unique voice, that sonorous clean voice coupled with those iconic growls... Aboslutely love their sound. Thank you for listening to them. Try The halo effect too please 🙂
Dark Tranquillity's "Where Death Is Most Alive" live recording is really, really good! Please react to that masterpiece. My Negation or Lost To Apathy for example, there is only good songs!
I'm not 100 percent sure how many people know of this band... however if you or anyone else has the chance, you should check them out. The band is called odium and a good song from them is called the descent, from their album within destruction.
