After proper reconstruction and lots of rehab, you should be mostly functional again (maybe not as strong as before, but def more than 40-50 pounds). Unless they botched the reconstructive surgery, a reasonably successful recovery is definitely possible. A lot of MDs still have outdated views about exercise just because that isn’t their field of expertise
The medical field has advanced rapidly since 2000 due to the skyrocket in technology. You could probably talk to a doctor about reconstruction if it's still limiting you that much. Not saying you should jump back into lifting, but 40-50 pounds is rough on everyday life as well, so checking back into it may offer some relief for you.
The body is weird sometimes. I cracked my humerus, exceeded expectations in physical therapy, and regained full strength and range of motion. My upper arm still just randomly hurts sometimes though. Sometimes stuff is just never the same again. @chubbynut_0g
@@MYWORSTENEMYISME ikr? lol It seems so obvious, but the temptation (and peer pressure) to hop on that band-waggon is, or certainly used to be (back in the '80s), exceptionally high. I'm so glad I resisted; so many didn't (and, if this video is anything to go by, still don't)...
@@BrianJ1962 I wasn’t being sarcastic. You made a simple statement that had common sense and I can appreciate that. Too many people trying to make things too complicated nowadays. Don’t do steroids and you’ll be fine. Just lift and lift and lift some more and you’ll be straight.
@@MYWORSTENEMYISME Exactly (and thank you). It's all about 'the regime' and discipline, sure - but make those revolve around healthy eating (proteins, vitamins and minerals for building mass and carb's to cover energy expenditure) and making sure that you lift within your means to ensure you don't (literally) rip all your hard work apart. The rest is, as you'd expect, all about the repetitions, and which exercises you focus on to work the muscles you wish to develop. Anybody who tells you anything different probably wants to sell you a 'short cut.' There aren't any - well, none that don't threaten to explode your heart, pose other health risks, or give you body mass that will simply turn into flab the instant you stop.
i had a labral tear last december, about 40% was torn away from the rest of my shoulder. I had 5 mounts in my shoulder. The surgery was awful. Couldn't lift my arm for 3 months at least. It took me 8 months of PT to get back to my full range of motion, I still have not fully healed. I got another couple months. For him to say he will be back working out in no time is so incredibly irresponsible and dumb...
Im kind of hoping bpc-157 actually turns out to be ok when properly dosed, it would be great if there was a non narcotic injection to help alleviate chronic pain
The He-Man figurine style muscles are hilarious but the voices are gold,do steroids make everyone try to talk like a cross between Darth Vader and Duke Nukem?
I lost all of my glute muscles as well as my lowerback muscles giving out. I had to do physical therapy to rebuild them. They did not give me steroids to help rebuild my muscles. That should tell you something.
I got shot, the pellets tore through my bicep and part of my chest. I wasn't given them either, because steroids don't help with anything positive, and people need to realize that.
Why would you want steriods to build a regular amount of muscle? and why would a doctor give you illegal substances for that? lol they are banned from sports and called "performance enhancing" for a reason because they are incredibly effective at improving any kind of physical output, speed strength etc. Steroids, for the most part affect your hormones, to help you recover better from stimulus and grow muscle. If you had a hormonal issue and lacked muscle, steriods would absolutely help you, medically is called TRT. Regardless of the situation though, if had regular hormones but wanted to grow muscle much quicker, or at significant amount more than you normally could, they absolutely work. But for 99.9 percent of people, not worth the trade offs
@@johnnewell8508 not all steroids are illegal, my point is that even during my months of recovery while rebuilding muscle I was not given steroids (legal ones) because the trade offs are not worth it. I rebuilt my muscles slowly over time, naturally.
Doctors do perscribe steroids but on very specific instances. Oxandrolone/Anavar was originally for burn victims before people found out it worked on muscle aswell
I was a personal trainer for several years after 3 years of college and I'm telling you, natural folk are more rare than those on some form of performance enhancement. Whether it be bog standard roids or tren, anavar, ozempic etc. Most folk look for that edge honestly. I myself have always been against PEDs for superficial benefits.

Toxicity has been pushed heavily in media and film for men/women/ect. and people who focus on toxic masculinity or feminity are focusing on the wrong issue.
That guy said “I have zero patience” as if that’s totally cool and incapable of being changed. That’s the kind of thing that makes a person toxic. Having bad habits and poor coping skills and acting as if that’s just “how it is.” This is especially noticeable in men because society justifies certain behaviors when they tell men it isn’t “manly” to cry or acknowledge any need to improve. People can change, can develop emotionally and progress in a meaningful way.
@thekeysman6760 people can be born intersex. It's a medical thing, and that baby doesn't have a choice. maybe just take a minute to check yourself before you spread legitimate medical misinformation.
I don’t understand why people would do steroids, unless medically needed. The side effects sound like a nightmare and it’s unattractive, the temper and massive muscles, it doesn’t look natural.
Literally made my dad into a frothing lunatic, would snap on a dime. Dish in the sink? Be prepared to be raged at by a huge muscle guy for the next 20 minutes
That’s the point you don’t want to look natural you want to appear inhuman. The “negative effects” are the desired effects. That’s why steroids are unique among SUD. You have physiological tolerance (and dependence) and neurological tolerance (and dependence) plus a reenforcement by your physique in the mirror. That is encoded as an external novel positive feedback loop. Unlike other SUD steroids do grant you a state dependent positive effect: your physique. Once you see your benchmark you just can’t forgive yourself if you loose an iota.
Some people are treated with steroids, though, like my grandma. I think for some chronic rheumatoid arthritis, I believe. Although it did make her very angry which wasn’t great for my grandpa but it does ease some pain for some people
Yes! As someone who used to be a huge RT fan way back when, I am very curious on the whole story about them and what the heck happened. I know bits and pieces, but it was hard to figure out what was fact or just rumor when everything was blowing up.
3:08 avascular necrosis. People who need steroids for severe inflammation often suffer from it sooner or later. Your bones actually rot away from the inside out from lack of blood flow.
The hard truth is, some people just don’t have the genetics to get big. It’s actually impossible to get past a certain point regardless of genetics, without steroids. They are called enhancers for a reason. They enhance what you can’t do naturally. I don’t care what a grown man chooses to do, but when it potentially influence young people to start, long before they “should”, it’s an issue. And lying about it
That’s bs. Tren is one of the best steroids for muscle growth, people use it when cutting because it allows them to go through very strict caloric deficits while maintaining their muscle mass. But people do still often use it for bulking.
Dr. Mike talks alot about the decisions you have to make when taking steroids, he will openly admit that he's willing to give up a portion of his life to look the way that he does and I think that honesty is extremely respectable

I tore my major and minor at the same time back in 2000 lifting I was clean. When I had surgery the doctor told me I was not going to be able to lift more than 40-50 pounds the rest of my life. I don’t know how bad his tear was but both of mine snapped like rubber bands
you should search for second opinion. because the 2nd doctor probably has different solution for you
After proper reconstruction and lots of rehab, you should be mostly functional again (maybe not as strong as before, but def more than 40-50 pounds).

As somebody who used to train and lift weights in their 20's - can confirm that avoiding steroids is the healthier choice.
LOL THANKS BUD
@@MYWORSTENEMYISME ikr? lol
It seems so obvious, but the temptation (and peer pressure) to hop on that band-waggon is, or certainly used to be (back in the '80s), exceptionally high.
I bet he uses BPC-157 to heal. Itll be interesting to see how well those peptides do.
Im kind of hoping bpc-157 actually turns out to be ok when properly dosed, it would be great if there was a non narcotic injection to help alleviate chronic pain
Bpc157 is being supressed by big pharma
The He-Man figurine style muscles are hilarious but the voices are gold,do steroids make everyone try to talk like a cross between Darth Vader and Duke Nukem?
I lost all of my glute muscles as well as my lowerback muscles giving out. I had to do physical therapy to rebuild them. They did not give me steroids to help rebuild my muscles. That should tell you something.
I got shot, the pellets tore through my bicep and part of my chest. I wasn't given them either, because steroids don't help with anything positive, and people need to realize that.
Why would you want steriods to build a regular amount of muscle? and why would a doctor give you illegal substances for that? lol
they are banned from sports and called "performance enhancing" for a reason because they are incredibly effective at improving any kind of physical output, speed strength etc.
@@johnnewell8508 steroids are not illegal, they are a controlled substance.

Etc*, et cetera. Ect isn't a word. 🕊️
And what else is there after "men, women"? There is no 'etc'.

I don’t understand why people would do steroids, unless medically needed. The side effects sound like a nightmare and it’s unattractive, the temper and massive muscles, it doesn’t look natural.
There is many people who look “natural” who are on steroids, it’s a faster way to achieve your dream physique
@@Magicnun because they haven't illegalize steroid usage outside doctor recommendation. its the pain killers dilemma all over again.
Well they don't want to be attractive or look natural

And lying about it
Tren is typically used for cutting or keeping lean, not for hypertrophy. Hardly ever used exclusively.
That’s bs. Tren is one of the best steroids for muscle growth, people use it when cutting because it allows them to go through very strict caloric deficits while maintaining their muscle mass. But people do still often use it for bulking.
Dr. Mike talks alot about the decisions you have to make when taking steroids, he will openly admit that he's willing to give up a portion of his life to look the way that he does and I think that honesty is extremely respectable
or is it?
Its funny bc browney is so popular bc he doesn’t use steroids and hes always so happy and positive and genuine
