It's probably the eyes. I read a long time ago that people have an unconscious awareness of eyes, and will respond to eye-like designs as if they were being watched. Might be the same for birds. It's probably freaky to see something that is not alive but seems to be looking at him...
I love how the cupcakes only became scary AFTER you put the eyes on. 😂 Despite everything, I'd say that it's an accurate representation of not just how a bird looks from straight on, but you've also PERFECTLY captured the derpy essence of it. 🤣🤣🤣

Wilton gel food coloring is much better than McCormick or other generic, liquid coloring products. Wilton also has an impressive range of shades - so you can really get “the Ham Effect” if you choose to attempt this again. I recommend either using white icing/frosting …or making your own with a buttercream recipe which substitutes Crisco (or other vegetable shortening) for part of the butter, thus making it as pale as possible. The whiter the frosting, the better the colors will be represented. Wilton also sells a white frosting which is a perfect vehicle for their colors. Hamlet is a periwinkle blue - so I’d be sure to pick up a nice shade of lavender or even pink to blend with a blue to make the frosting true-to-hue. (poetic rhyming unintended) Love your videos - your deadpan commentary is the best! 😍

Make red and black frosting is challenging because you either have to use tons of food coloring or immerse it with a stick blender. Even still, this wasn’t as chaotic as I expected 😅

A trick for filling cupcake liners is to use ice cream scoopers and count how many that specific size scoop takes to fill to the middle. Hope this helps! ^^ Eeit: For better colors, use gel food dye and feel free to practice making the desired color with a small color test with the dye so you don’t run out. Your cupcakes look lovely btw! Besides, decoration whoopsies when it comes to cakes, cookies, etc are yummy whoopsies! ❤🧁
Had a seriously crappy day... My daughter's pitty that I pretty much raised die suddenly tonight, and then I saw this video and you and Ham made me feel so much better. I've been wanting all your videos and shorts and so enjoy them. I used to do parrot rescue when I and my girls were younger, wanted them to learn how to help others and responsibility, I also fostered two greys. I miss them so much! I am considering a green cheek conure baby, as I am disabled now and home all the time, humans annoy me now a days so I need to find someoneelse to talk to. Thanks fo my making my evening a bit better, Ham and B! lot's of love from Michigan, U.S.A.! oh, just a tip, I used to decorate cakes, that food coloring sucks, if you decide to do it again, go to a cake decorating supply store, and get the little jars of gel coloring, best stuff ever!
I think you did a fantastic job Bridget! The color's weren't your fault at all, it's the way those bottled drops make the frosting look, they are never the color you are aiming for. lol I learned this the hard way and ended up eventually buying wilton's brand which was more like gel but made all the difference in the shades of icing I was aiming for. Hamlet is so cute, I just love the way you place the words on screen, they really go with his looks and mannerisms lol My grey does that crazy screech as well and it drives me up the wall, it's really hard on the ears. Thanks for your wonderful videos they always have me giggling away at Hamlet's crazy antics! 🥰
