I'm not a romance reader either but loved The Hating Game. So much so that I've been trying out other romance books hoping to recapture the magic but it has not been going well. There's just something special about that book.
The Martian is great, a lot more things go wrong in the book compared to the movie. And you’re absolutely right about movie covers. I don’t even know why they print them. I just started my Stephen King collection after watching your thrifting videos. I don’t think I ever considered shopping at second hand stores before but I found this tiny shop near me, they don’t even have a register, they just keep their money in a drawer haha. The older couple that runs it always compliment me on my taste when I buy a stack of King novels and give me a discount. It’s great!

Its really good and I highly recommend for you to read. It's about this crime writer who got back in touch with her an old friend when they wanted her to look into the murder of her, the friend's, family's murder. If you end up reading it let me know!
I love watching your thrifted book hauls! I live in a small town so no thrift store has a large book section. Went out of town and this thrift store had SHELVES full of books!! I was there for probably an hour and got 27 books… zero shame 😂
I love thrift book shopping ... and I have found a number of signed books. One day, I found a cache of them. 13 signed books cost me $27. Their value exceeded $500. I have since donated one to a charity auction at a local SciFi convention. It was a Terry Pratchett first edition and a book store bought it for $40. I have told myself that 2022 will be a moratorium on buying more books. But if I I find a good thrift store book, I'll break that moratorium!

The Martian I thought was a good page turner, but I found the secondary characters were indistinct and interchangeable. Caitlin Doughty is on RUclips as Ask a Mortician, which is a GREAT channel that I think you would like! I've seen a little of the Big Little Lies show, which is well acted, though part of why my family likes it is because it takes place in Monterey, California where we used to live and the scenery is gorgeous. Highly recommend you check out Cailtin Doughty's RUclips channel!! She makes some really cool videos all about the funeral industry and death and she's just such a cool lady. Really loved her book!
I don't like covers with people (shows/movies) on them either. lol I don't like the aesthetic and also, I want to be able to picture the characters by description and what I picture them as-not what casting directors came up with lol
Martian = amazing. Eric Larson hasn’t written anything as good as Devil in the White City. He’s tried hard. But he’s never been able to recreate that magic.

Such great prices! My goodwill has hardcover books for between 7.99-9.99 sometimes more. The paperbacks are usually 2.99-6.99!

Wow! You’re Goodwills are more expensive. I live in SC/NC. I’m 10 minutes away from NC (Charlotte area) . Softcover $1 and hardback are $1.39.
It looks like that goodwill was more of a boutique goodwill or even a book outlet goodwill which they price higher.

The hating game was the worst romance I’ve ever read. I’d recommend reading Love And Other Words or The Soulmate Equation instead!
