Good review. We like the Anycubic machines a lot. You should be able to get faster top speeds without step loss by using lower max acceleration. It probably doesn't come with s-curve acceleration enabled, but with a new firmware install that can also be enabled to help reduce resonances. An upcoming version of Marlin will include "input shaping," which should also increase the top reachable speeds while eliminating ugly surface artifacts at all speeds.
Sweet. Was going to give Klipper a try for the same reason, but now I will just wait and try this instead!
The latest version of Prusa Slicer (2.5) now uses the Arachne perimeter generator and does soft acceleration instead of jerking back and forth without slowing down. It's cleaned up my prints on the Ender 3 all by itself. Still stringing and blobbing, but it's not nearly as bad as it was. All that is to say that Prusa Slicer has got some huge improvements, including ramped acceleration baked into the gcode.
I compile my own marlin and S-curve makes terrible results. You just need to dial down jerk to avoid resonances. I print on my ender 3v2 at 70-90mm/s with high acceleration without issues. Result is 3-4x faster than stock settings. Some custom FW is slower and produces worse results than the stock FW but people have the placebo effect. Just crazy.
@@transatlant1c better if you dial in constant speed across print features, put the same speed in every box. No need for klipper for that and it works really well especially with tpu on a bowden.

Usually takes me 20+ videos to start warming up to new cast members but Dan, I want more of his content. He reminds me of someone I used to know and this calming personality makes me feel relaxed.
I think Dan and Anthony are both my favorite presenters that are still in videos. First would be a toss up between Dan and Luke. Luke is sorely missed, his excitement for new products while at the same time having a soothing voice definitely makes his videos hard to beat.
Dan sadly while great he seems to either be too shy or his lack of enthusiasm makes him feel more dry. Although that comment that he said at the end about this being a Gateway drug to 3D printing, oof that is a bit risky to say on youtube. Perhaps this video might get demonetized because of it. Although it is sponsored so they will get paid either way. hmmm

I know they're not 'click magnets', but I'd LOVE to see more 3D printing topics on LTT. There's a lot of confusing info out there and I fell like LTT could cut to the chase better than most.
The issue I have with this is that it's effectively going up against the Ender 3 which you can pick up fairly often for $99. The community is going to be a lot bigger and the support is too with many companies like Bigtreetech making 3rd party boards and accessories specifically for the Ender line of products. So yes, while this is $200, you can get an ender usually cheaper and add on things like a BLTouch for $40 ish with the benefits that come with Creality.
The downside to the Ender however would be the slower speeds, but looking at the 100mm/s and what I think was 80mm/s, a lot of tinkering would be required to get those to work reliably. So you're more likely to be running at the more conventional 50-60mm/s.
That's not to say the creality printers are the best, far from it. But in the event of a fault, the online support for it and Prusa's printers FAR exceed that of Anycubic. I like Anycubic, I think this a great alternative, but practically speaking, I think an Ender is the best budget printer option.
Got 5x Ender Pro 3 models, work them for three or four hours a day... For a year... And they just don't go wrong. I agree, this is overpriced, which is something a few years ago I thought I would never say.
that is if you want to heavily mod yourself but as starting point with steel bed and inductive probe - I dont think its too bad, also considering the built up version jungle of ender 3s

For those wondering as he skipped over the V Wheel tuning details, what you want is the ability to turn them by hand, without them free spinning with no resistance. In other words, light friction as you turn an individual roller wheel by hand. The three wheels need to all achieve this in unison and only 1 wheel has the eccentric nut to turn to adjust how closely it grips the rail, so if one of the outer wheels isn't playing nice, you may have to loosen the entire end assembly on the aluminum extrusion in order to get all 3 wheels to play nice since this lets the "angle" of the outer two wheels settle in place against the aluminum extrusion evenly. Now adjusting the singular wheel with the nut will let you get all three wheels into equal pressure. Then just re-tighten the end assembly afterwards and re-check all is good.
Remember, inexpensive means mass assembly, and shipping from China is never without some jostling, so just accept that some careful tuning is often in order.
I believe this type of fixed bed and a probe for the surface will push most other manual tram designs off the map over time. Seems like the cost difference between springs and wheels added to tram the bed, versus a probe should be minimal.
Got the printer after the video and it definitely takes some finicky adjustments, but once it’s dialed in it’s great for cheap
@@LeSquishy Had an "unrepair" Kobra off Ebay for $119 delivered with 1 year Allstate guarantee running yesterday in about an hour out of the box. Most everything was loose or wrong from a wannabe failing to understand how to put one together as to why it hit the "return bin"... prints perfectly and with the addition of a 2nd spool holder arm off the 1st, I can quickly switch filaments in seconds with it being direct drive.
There are going to be MASSES of these failed assemblies hitting Ebay after Christmas now. Literally no one but a techno wimp should be buying a low end or entry printer at full price these days.
I wanna know why they didn't compare to the 200 dollar ender 3 that this product is clearly competing against. I'd like to know which one is a better value considering they're both around 200

I went with the Cr6-Se as my 1st printer and im glad i did....pretty simple install and setup and has served me well..only issue i have had is with the connection form the board to the heater going bad but a soldering job solved it and helps as i took out the low quality plug it had and so ill never have any more issues with that.....of course it was bout twice as much as this one but since ive had it for almost 2 years at the time i thought it was the best overall
I gotta say that Dan's voice and way of talking is soothing when you have this on a background while doing homework. Really good entertaiment.

For entry Level Printers, the new elegoo Neptune 3 is great, but can be a bit hard to get at the moment. However, the anycube is a solid choice as well.
I’ve got two Neptune 3’s from the pre-orders…i can run mine consistently @75mm/s for pla and most tpu designs. Just wish there was a little more support for Wi-Fi at the moment…not sure if the same mod for the 2s will work here or not.

Got their Vyper earlier this year. Was weird to see how much had to be assembled compared to the Vyper.
I got mine last October. That thing is a work horse. I run it more than not. Only upgrade I did was put a pheatus dragonfly hotend on. Like it so much I bought a Kobra Max
Great video! One tip: the entrance for the filament is on the left, so it’s easier on the extruder and less strain on the filament to put the spool on the left

I love those textured build plates and use them on my Prusa and Ender printers which are about the same size as this. I just assembled an Anycubic Kobra Max last week to make some bigger stuff (400x400x450mm), and after following the calibration video from "The Makers Cave" this weekend it's printing really nice. The downsides are it's huge, draws 500W to heat the bed, and I don't have a textured build plate for it yet.
The Kobra Go in this video looks like it has the same quality, so $190 seems like a really good deal. It also looks like they changed from a USB type B port to type C. You should be able to hook up a little SBC running OctoPrint if you need to place it away from your desktop and don't want to keep putting your gcode files on the microSD card. OctoPrint lets you control/monitor the printer and upload your gcode files through a web browser.
The microSD card that came with my Kobra Max got corrupted on about the tenth time I wrote some files to it and had to be reformatted. I'd recommend backing up whatever files come on yours, which is something I didn't do. :(

I probably trust Dan's reviews more than anyone else. He just doesn't care what anyone thinks.
Nor a good mentality, especially since honesty doesnt mean objectivity.
That is to say, its not that I think dan is dishonest so much as this channel, and I assume dan, are very new to 3d printing and 3d printing reviews so they will lack a lot of the prerequisite knowledge to truly dig into a printer.
They wont know why nozzle based ABL will get you a better user experience, or why running klipper will allow the printer to print faster generally, or why bed slingers are going out of style.

We just got a $3,500 Flashforge at work and I'm trying to see why its $3,000 more than my modified Ender 3v2.
Because business need something that is as close to "plug and play" as it can get. You, as hobist can have as much down time as you want. Every minute printer isn't working, it is loosing money. They need "finished" machine, not "work in progress" that is able to print. And when it comes to business, they are paying business prices.
@@xManzi I mean, sure, I get that. But it hasn't been plug and play at all. The auto bed leveling gouged the hell out of the bed. Luckily I know how to do that stuff manually and designed a bracket to mount for a dial indicator to more accurately level the bed. Even then, it didn't repeat. Like I said, having a hard time justifying that premium price.
@@calypsoraz4318 I can agree that Flashforge doesn't make good printers. But V-wheel bed flinger in class of Ender 3 simply can't compare. Both are bad investments as a business. If someone is starting their own business and like to thinker with printers, there are far better options between those two (in terms of price). But, from personal experience, I would always go for enclosed printer instead of open one.
@@xManzi yeah, we just got it for fixture making and part prototyping. I work in a cnc shop and its more or less just a toy.
The answer is it is not. The Flashforge is a waste of money but businesses buy because they don't know better and assume the higher price means easier to run printer. The truth is with fff 3d printers specifically price is often not at all indicative of features, ease of use or reliability.
A Bambulab X1C blows that out of the water and its 1 third the price for instance.

The difference between a higher-priced printer and a lower-priced printer usually comes down to tinkering and "how much do you want to tinker" versus "how much do you want to print."
Usually the tolerances for tinkering are higher on cheaper printers because they're cheaper. If I had to tinker on my Prusa, for the price, I'd be raging!
But my i3 Mk3 runs whenever I need it, flawlessly, no matter how long it sits between prints, or how continuously I run it. "It just works" is a major factor in why I'm so brand loyal.

I got an Anet A8 a few years ago which was AUD$230 (US$150) which seems is no longer available on ebay but does have the dual motors for the Z axis and was quite a bit more of an effort to put together however it certainly gave me the bug.
The crap PSU went in the bin and replaced with an ATX PSU powering a Raspberry Pi running Octiprint over WiFi very much changed it.
I feel that if you NEED a 3D printer then buy one that just works but if you want to really get into it and understand it and build things your way get something you can build upon. Printing your own parts for your own printer is very satisfying.

I have a Creality Ender 3 v2 is quite simmilar in build. When I assembled mine, I tightened the bed's leveling nuts all the way, took a digital level and zeroed it on the bed, and the used that to align the X-axis gantry when tightening those V-wheels.
I remember when $200 got you an Anet A8 and your house burned to the ground. My first printer was an A8 and you really learn a lot with a first printer like that when you try to upgrade it to have decent print quality, or at least make it safe to use. Also, be careful not to overtighten those wheels, better to undertighten and have to tighten it a bit more, than to overtighten and need to replace the wheels, Maker's Muse has a good video on the subject. Also, it's not uncommon for printers with auto bed leveling to not have manual bed adjustment.
My A8 ended up doing a triggers broom, probably ended up spending £600 replacing one bit at a time, and ended up with a fully custom linear railed, extrusion and duet3D board, auto bed levelling with bltouch Bowden extruded with a titan and e3d, the list went on and on….
I could have just bought a decent 3D printer…
Mesh leveling is a nice step after tramming the bed with the 4 corner adjustment...
As someone who's been learning both FDM and resin printing over the past 6 months, I'd love to see a channel with LMG's resources take a shot at printer reviews, comparisons, and especially DIY upgrades.
Just like in the vyper, the bed is solid mounted. The hotend uses a strain gauge. Works nice and no messing with springs and wheels.
Dan's voice is soothing and calming. I could listen to him talk about anything all day long
I got a Bluer TwoTrees 2 years ago for USD199 and it's an amazing printer, i printed a lot of stuff on it and always worked with no problems, that is my first 3d printer and was perfect for beginners.
I did it. I made the purchase. I got the shipping + printer + 5.25mm + of filament for $205 US. For my first foray into 3D printing, I feel this was a great deal. I'll see if that holds up when the machine arrives. I'll also see if I have the proper skills to use it LOL.
I don't have a 3D printer nor am I planning to get one at the moment, but Dan is such a great host. He's an amazing addition to the team. Bravo!

I got the Anycubic Vyper a few days ago any must say that it was the easiest 3D Printer to setup and to get going, apart from getting a dud SD card the machine has been great. Pretty much running all day for the last 2 days and no failed prints. Still need ti dial in the profile, though out the box I was impressed with the print quality. Price wise where I'am the Vyper was only $50 more than the Kobra Go and you get an easier assembly processes, only need to put in 4 screws to assemble the Z accesses gantry and connect wires for the stepper motors and hotend. You get and extra rod for the Z access, a slightly larger bed and a touch screen so well worth the extra $50. Overall it was the cheapest 3D Printer I owned, though wasn't going to the cheapest, and at this early stage has been the best.

Years ago i bought the AnyCubic Prusa i3 Crappy DIY Kit for 300Euros. i optimized it over the Years and Completely Reworked everything. It doesn´t even look like the Based Printer anymore.But doing so the Cost added up to around 800Euros.
Seeing what you can get Today is Exciting. the Entry Point is so much Lower today.
I dont mind the Money i Spent, as i learned a Lot while Optimizing. But seeing how affordable this kind of RabbitHole got, is kind of MindBlowing and Perfect for Future Generations.
Imagine 3D Design or Art classes in all Kind of School Models around the World. Or even imagine the Impact on Creativity of kids using it.

I picked up a Kingroon KP3S for only $90 and with zero experience 3D Printing, I had a successful print first try. I'd recommend it highly. Wish I had a bigger bed, but other than that, it's pretty solid.
Got my ender 3 pro for $99 at microcenter a couple of weeks ago and I totally agree about the variables thing, its tricky to figure out whats causing the problems

I'm mainly interested in cheap printers as an addition to another printer I already have. This is for times where I want to print more than one part at the same time, and not all need to be printed on an more expensive one. For any additional traits, besides a low price, my top priority would probably be to have a copper plated all metal hotend, not bed leveling.
