Just noting how you've earned such loyalty among your viewers. One year gone and we're right back the second you post. Of course, we've all been waiting 4 years for this fight. Smartest boxing analysis bar none.
Welcome back Islanders! I hope you start can making more videos.I want to hear what you think of GGG, Roman Gonzalez, Canelo-Kirland, and others. Boxing been in full swing as of lately! Good to see the videos again!
Islander a lot of us always look forward to your videos. We know your busy but try your best to keep them coming.i made the mistake of watching Leonard vs Duran 1 before Mayweather/ Pacquiao. Now that was a real fight. Also im fed up with crappy undercards. I remember the stacked undercards of Don King promotions with 3 or 4 world title fights and good prospects squaring off underneath. Also the money made by May/Pac deserved a grand effort. These guys should have put the sort of effort in where they barely stand up after 12 rounds and at least one or not both look like gargoyles.
arnold wayne Thanks, I hope with the advent of more network TV boxing there will be more interesting things to talk about. Keeping in mind Klitschko-Jennings was not worth talking about IMO.
Hey! He's back! I'll be happy to put this "chapter" behind us, and hope that whatever damage the likes of Mayweather and company has done to boxing can be undone. Damn I want Manny to win on principle. I haven't had more emotion invested in a fight since......I dunno. You mentioned Hagler. Maybe Hagler-Hearns. Meanwhile, I have no damned clue. I'm scared my man will give an opening to that cagey, defensive, FM.
abovebeneath1 TYVM! I forget how much I miss all you guys when I'm nose to the grindstone and only come up for air what seems like every Cinco de Mayo! How things going in the Big Apple?
boxinginfo Things are good man. Really miss the videos. Love when you talk about the old days of our youth (Rabbit ears) Every Saturday afternoon, bobby chacon, boza edwards, calvin grove, greg haugen, stevie cruz. Just random names.. Hope you find some free time in the future to some more..
Always been a pleasure listening to your thoughts n views again. Good vid as always. I'm picking Pac to win by UD, he is going to land n land more than expected, more than most of Floyd previous opponents who we knows don't have the speed, volume, accuracy like Pac. I'm also banking on Pac scoring a flash Kd or two. That said I can also see Floyd winning the fight if Pac got hesitant n try to outwit the defensive wizard. Some are seeing a KO win by Floyd in the late rounds. Possible but very unlikely. It took a great technician like JMM going more than 40 rounds with Pac to figure it out, I don't see Floyd doing it in 12, n Floyd doesn't take risk like JMM. May the best man win.
hawkermustang LOL I'm doing my best Leonard and Hagler imitations - perform maybe once a year! I hope to be back more and work around how uploading videos nearly takes down our network-it was crawling for hurs.
When this fight was made, I immediately thought of Wilfred Benitez vs. SRL. After watching the fight on rerun just now, you were spot on on your prefight analysis. Middle distance. The only thing I disagree with your videos is that you don't make enough of 'em anymore.
Pick, for what it's worth, is that Pacquiao has the most obvious road to victory and Mayweather has more roads to victory. On balance, I think that Floyd will find some way to win, but he's going to have to deal with a basic styles disadvantage.
I'm missing your videos , I'm a boxing fanatic and appreciate the sweet science and have similar opinions to you ......c'mon man make some more videos cause myself and I'm sure other subscribers miss your stuff
Nicolas Walters is a great young gun n stepping in into the elite class soon. I'm also sold on Terence Crawford. Lucas also looking good after that war with Ruslan, Lucas should rematch D. Garcia.
ok, im changing my opinion when it comes to pacqquiao's strategy heading into the fight. At first, i thought pacquiao's best chance was to push the envelop and force mayweather into a fast paced firefight. Now, after watching the hatton and dela hoya fights, im seeing it more like the islander in terms of where the fight should take place which is midrange. Manny is not your typical inside pressure fighter, so taking that approach would lead him right into mayweathers traps. I honestly believe pacquiao should use his footspeed and give mayweather angles in order to counter the counter puncher so to speak. If he can make floyd the aggressor he will take him out of his comfort zone which i think is a key for pacquiao-unpredictability is the name of the game. That being said i might be entirely wrong here LMAO
I think the way Manny uses his legs, which I think are bit quicker than Floyds, will be critical. The only time Floyd fought a guy who had legitimately quicker feet was Zab and Zab was a guy who he knew would gas out. In other cases it's true that he'll deliberately let guy's outmaneuver him(like Mosley and Sharmbe Mitchel) but he knows he can just catch them when they try to engage. As Atlas put it, I'm not sure Manny will "be at the door" when Floyd looks to catch him. If your pointing a gun at me though, I'd pick Floyd to adapt and control Manny. Probably with his left hand.
People fell into the hype Pacquiao hasn't been destroying anyone lately he hasn't had a knockout in over 6 years and got knocked out him self by Marquez. His last fight with Chris Algieri was boring and same with his other recent fights. I'm not even a fan of Mayweather but I knew he would win easily.
If its a question of mid-range, you could argue that Pacquiao is faster, therefore should win that contest or in Mayweather's defense, could win the mid-range with a superior reach. I think Mayweather feels that Pacquiao is too small, and Mayweather feels that he can take the centre of the ring on demand at anytime in the fight. For this reason I think Pacquiao can hurt an overly confident Floyd at some point in the fight. Hatton made that mistake also against Manny, he disrespected his size, Mosley has said this week, that he just couldn't respect the size of Pacquiao and walked onto defeat foolishly. Before Mosley realized what had happened, Pacquiao had knocked the strength out of him. If Mayweather disrespects Pacquiao's presence, this fight could end early, with Mayweather doing the funky chicken before going to sleep.
John Walsh I think as far as the "danger zone" known as the middle ground where both can reach each other but are not on top of each other it will play out one of these ways: Pacquiao is quicker and gets off first and lands basically a replay of his fight vs. Delahoya. 2nd scenario Pacquiao gets off first and Mayweather makes him miss and makes him pay-a replay of Mayweathers fight vs Zab Judah. Then the 3rd and worst scenario in my mind they get to the middle ground and as you aptly point out the Mayweather reach advantage as well as FMJ possibly being faster lands first then makes Pac miss then lands again. One or all of these scenarios will play out over and over again in this fight. I'm not sold on Pacquiao having the correct Kryptonite punch to lay Floyd out, if he's to win I still say its "Death by a Thousand Left Hands"
John Walsh Thats what made the fight so intriguing, even up to this point. Experts and fans keep signaling the fact that pacquiao has never faced anyone like mayweather yet, mayweather has never faced a high volume, speed demon like pacquiao. Both represent stylistic problems for each other. Personally, i believe pacquiao's best chance is to make it a high paced fight as it is difficult for me to believe that he can win a tactical countering game at midrange. Mayweather is at his absolute best when he is given enough time and distance to think and dictate. I still lean towards mayweather-considering the fact that marquez made pacquiao miss like crazy in the third fight, mayweather could do much worse.
John Walsh Just what I thought would happen, happened. Mayweather disrespected Manny's presence and tried to KO Pacquiao in the first 2 rounds, Manny responded in the 3rd, Mayweather felt the power and ran away for 10 rounds. I thought it was a draw, I didn't award Mayweather for spoiling, very unfair how Manny could only win a round if he hit Mayweather 50 times per round whereas Mayweather merely spoiled, clinched, and ran while being rewarded for not fighting. The continuity of refereeing was terrible, the ref took 2 points away from Rodriguez for continually fouling whereas Bayless never threatened Mayweather with a point warning, which allowed Mayweather to clinch, push and headlock Manny throughout the fight. Truly and awful spectacle for boxing.
John Walsh Not sure about mayweather trying to ko pacquiao, but he certainly dictated from the get go with his jab. It was a typical mayweather performance;unfortunately for boxing fans, it turned out to be a huge disappointment. With all the hype and excitement surrounding the event, you would have expected mayweather to take more risks yet, he didn't. It was so dull that it made the maidana 2 fight seem moderately enjoyable LOL.
ROFL at clowns talking about how this fight was close. Shit was not close at all. MAYWEATHER PUT ON A MASTERPIECE!!! Pacquiao was done lost since round 1 lol
AdonisAiolos Using the Clottey shell defence technique and backpedaling like De La Hoya (last 3 rounds of the Tito fight), add to that clinch even when not hurt is smart from floyd, but a Masterpiece? You seriously have to be joking man, Floyd did nothing but hurt his legacy. 50 years from now people will still remember Floyd as a safety first fighter with NOT A SINGLE Classic Battle, not one. The Great Robinson, Leonard, Hearns, Hagler, Duran, Chavez, Ali, Salvador Sanchez, Zarate, Olivares, Gomez, Henry Armstrong, Willie Pep, James Toney, Arguello and Dozens of other great Fighters hold a couple of losses in their record but the difference is, they went to Battle, toe to toe, in non stop action fights that will be remembered for the ages by the True Boxing Fans. May's defensive style is boring compared to others known for their brilliance when it comes to defence. To name a few: James Toney, Winky Wright (who would walk down fighters even as he defended himself with his shell like guard.) Willie Pep, Whitaker, Wilfred Benitez, Nicolino Locche, heck even Rigondeaux's fights are far more entertaining than the Great Mayweather's hype fests. May is very talented but holy fuck his fights can be extremely disappointing. I suggest you study these fighters and Learn to appreciate the sport and forget the mainstream media.

Great to have you back man, keep the vids coming
Good to have you back! It was Demarcus Corley who buzzed Mayweather with the wide right hook as you say.
Kamal Panchal Yes that is whose name slipped my mind, and then Mayweather bounced him off the canvas like a basketball.
Good to see you back islander. Video six years in the making!

Whatever the outcome, it is fascinating. I have a funny feeling this week that it could be a draw.

Leo Villicana Gotta love these guys who've discovered this site for the first time, who come on here oblivious to the boxing IQ of Islander's base.
