The reason Dave is un-cancellable now is because he's hit rock bottom in life when he walked away from his career due to creative differences. He defends the art of comedy and the freedom to express yourself as you so wish. He protects freedom of speech with his stances, when he was rebuilding himself, he kept humble. He did small comedy clubs again as if he was just starting out, he then got his Netflix special which garnered new and old fans alike. He's also one of the last few comedians of an old era that still speaks about divisive topics. He's become a unicorn and people feel the need to protect him and his art. He's very niche and the last of his kind. This is why you cannot remove his voice, the people simply want him to stay.
i wouldnt quite call that rock bottom. i doubt he was struggling financially. sure he walked away from doing what he loved but if you know him you know it wasnt a permanent thing. if anything is quite the opposite because this was the catalyst for the progression for who we know today as dave chappelle.

@@MaartenOosterbaan you're right, me, a bi man, and several other queer friends including one mtf watched the special together one night. cracked open a few drinks and had plenty of laughs. and yeah, some of the jokes didnt hit (no comedian is 100% perfect) but thats more or less because it felt less like a joke and more like a statement without a punchline or setup, not because it was "offensive" but overall, we had a good time watching it. we all talked about how crazy it was afterward about the whole controversy. I have no doubt in my mind that a few vocal people were offended by this but I doubt it was anywhere near enough to spark what happened on their own. the media framing of this whole debacle is honestly the worst part because its genuinely doing more harm than good.

I’m a transgender man and I have absolutely no issue with Him. He’s actually one of my favorite comedians and he is a genius.I think through his most recent special he actually helped us a lot. His story with Daphne really put something into words that a lot of people can’t and I’m personally thankful for that.

When it comes to comedy there’s 2 rules the comedian and audience should abide by. 1) Anyone and everyone is allowed to be offended if they’re joked about. 2) Nobody is allowed to tell the comedian what he can joke about.

Hes never really said anything intelligent on the subject of trans people because he doesn't understand them in the same way he understands race relations. Hes misinformed on JK Rowling and hes misinformed on what being a TERF means, and he wonders why he gets attacked when he says he stands with the trans version of the KKK. I dont think he should be cancelled and I think the backlash is overblown, but when your trans it feels like EVERYONE misunderstands you, and EVERYONE is making fun of you based on those misunderstandings. The reason Dave is un-cancellable now is because he's hit rock bottom in life when he walked away from his career due to creative differences. He defends the art of comedy and the freedom to express yourself as you so wish. He protects freedom of speech with his stances, when he was rebuilding himself, he kept humble. He did small comedy clubs again as if he was just starting out, he then got his Netflix special which garnered new and old fans alike. He's also one of the last few comedians of an old era that still speaks about divisive topics.
He's become a unicorn and people feel the need to protect him and his art. He's very niche and the last of his kind.

I have to wonder how many of the people complaining even saw the show. If anything, it's the exact opposite. He was incredibly kind to the community that is trying to cast him down.

@@MaartenOosterbaan you're right, me, a bi man, and several other queer friends including one mtf watched the special together one night. cracked open a few drinks and had plenty of laughs. and yeah, some of the jokes didnt hit (no comedian is 100% perfect) but thats more or less because it felt less like a joke and more like a statement without a punchline or setup, not because it was "offensive" but overall, we had a good time watching it. we all talked about how crazy it was afterward about the whole controversy. I have no doubt in my mind that a few vocal people were offended by this but I doubt it was anywhere near enough to spark what happened on their own. the media framing of this whole debacle is honestly the worst part because its genuinely doing more harm than good.

1) Anyone and everyone is allowed to be offended if they’re joked about.

Hes never really said anything intelligent on the subject of trans people because he doesn't understand them in the same way he understands race relations.
Hes misinformed on JK Rowling and hes misinformed on what being a TERF means, and he wonders why he gets attacked when he says he stands with the trans version of the KKK.
I dont think he should be cancelled and I think the backlash is overblown, but when your trans it feels like EVERYONE misunderstands you, and EVERYONE is making fun of you based on those misunderstandings. I expected better of chappelle because he's usually so sharp when it comes to race issues.
