🇨🇳 HUGE Child's Rice Pot (Original Clay Pot Rice in ZhuHai, China)

- Clay Pot Rice has to be one of the most tasty dishes on any Chinese food menu, anywhere in the world. Today, we are so lucky to be having a great example of this dish at its SOURCE! Here in Southern China we are close to the heart, the origin, of so many DELICIOUS recipes known the world over - I am so happy to be able to explore this restaurant with Li and our friend in Zhu Hai today!
"Bao Zai Fan" could be translated as 'Child's Rice Pot,' meaning that's how Li has fun translating it for me... but you could also find this more commonly written in English as "Rice Casserole."
We still have one more video down here in the South before we move on to visiting Li's hometown! This is a trip we have looked forward to for a long time (almost 4 years actually), and so we are very excited to be able to make these memories AND have these videos to share with all of you as well.

Joel, I am fighting breast cancer, beating it alternately, matcha , and green tea being one of the many things I do . But I’m past the three month death sentence they gave me by 22 months. We appreciate the knowledge of the history and knowledge of the food… we have adapted to it. Against the SAD diet. I spent 7 weeks in Scottsdale, Az.. the only place that can give you treatment you can’t get in. Michigan… went her other 4 tumors and left with no tumors… all High dose vitamin C , Quercitin, Alfa lipoic acid, Curcumin, and supplements, and hyperbaric chamber, infrared light therapy… and they just don’t understand how this helps the immune system. We would appreciate if you could hep us with the healing and healt benefactors of eating clean. Thank you for your compliment of joy for food and please give our best regards to Sara… we love you both and enjoy all the food videos… look forward to the next one. God Bless you all.

The meat is called Lap cheong usually made out of pork and pork fat normally smoked, sweetened, and seasoned with rose water, rice wine and soy sauce. Sooo yummmmy 😋 I like to pour the sauce on before mixing it . Enjoy!

I couldn’t help but to make a comment on a correction since I’m bilingual. It is not child’s pot, it is “cooked rice in a mini clay pot.” 煲仔 translated separately as 煲 “an utensil can be boiled” as it is made in clay; therefore, it is called clay pot. 仔 has double meaning as “baby”, “child”, or “mini.” Here, it picks the meaning of “mini”. So 煲仔 （bow jai) means mini clay pot. 煲仔飯 translates as mini clay pot rice, of which rice cooked in various flavors and ingredients in a mini clay pot.
Yes. In this context, 仔 means "mini" or "small". It's also a term of endearment like "little Joel".

Ah JC! There are plenty of channels out there (great channels!!) with pretty pictures, better editing, and wayyyy more food than I could ever eat. But for me the history and cultural setting are what make the food so special.
