I feel for you my friend parkinsons is a horrible disease I wish you luck on your journey my grandfather has it and just remember to keep your head up high and live life to the fullest
I appreciate your candid truth, and off road Farm work is part of what it was designed for. The other part is just plain having a blast w it and seeing what it can do . I just got mine street legal and put turn signals and a horn and took it to the BMV and got a license plate for it . Now, how cool is that. I bought a toy hauler to put it in so I can take it w/ me on vacations.I put a removable rumble seat in the dump bed so I can take two more passengers. You must have a Gator I like my gator
I should have taken a picture this summer of the Gator pulling the 3 wagons of hay in the hay field with a fat tire on one of the wagons. That had everyone's head turned.I bet your Polaris Ranger could do twice that !!
I checked out the rsx and decided to keep the one I have. I feel its a more versatile machine. I just put a front wench on it so I can wench it onto the rack I had made for the bed of my dually. The 825i is to wide for the bed so I built a rack to carry it on top of the bed, similar to a car hauler. The racks go above the rear cab. Looks pretty sharp. When I get a chance i'll you tub it to everyone.
@TheIceBurglar I am from OHIO. The bmv has had an on and off policy. I just cought them on the on time to register my gator. I believe the speed has alot to do w/ it as 47mph is not your usual speed of a suv. There are no restrictions as to day time, location, etc. so that was and is a big plus. Also they loved the sales tax. I had to get it insured almost like a car. Good luck in Kansas.
Had a flash flood my way,,looking to re-adjust the 500lb.+ big creek rocks....will maybe use my Kubota B-18 tractor...the strap idea to grasp the rocks without lifting them seems the only way to move them...thanks
John deer has reliability we have a 17 year old gator that has been through hell and back and runs fine Kubota has towing and torque ours can tow a Jeep jk with little struggle but it is slow as hell Polaris is fast decent at towing and is fun to drive honda is reliable and look good and can am is fast as hell but breaks easily Yamaha fast indistructible I have one and it's been flipped ran into trees jumped wheelied and runs fine I am not hating I am making a point
I have not noticed a vibration problem with the gator. I have used it hard and have had it going on two years now. I have been pulling hay wagons out of the field stacking hay bales 6 high and connecting up to 3 wagons together. At one point a wagon had a flat tire which I didn't find out tell the tire came off the rim. So if there were going to be a vibration issue I'm sure I would have detected it by now. I am looking forward to taking it with me to Florida in three weeks!
I like john deere dont get me wrong. Please. We have some old tractors of john deeres. I didnt get the gator in 2009 because the 825i wasnt available. Everyone gets what they need for there specific needs. Mine is a farm/off road capable machine. Polaris hd. If i had of waited for this to come out i prob woulda gotten it.
I stand corrected. johnrambo1215 everything you said is correct. I was wrong. Thanks for the information to make this blog correct, and to enlighten myself on my own gator. Have fun w/ your new toy. !
Pulling an esclade out of the ditch or even mud seems to be a pretty common thing. I'm sure there have been lots of types of machines pullig them out of a mistakes they thought they could or should be able to get them selves out of. Raw pulling power on dry ground John Deere has got them all beat. And I can prove it ! Watch and weap !
My Kawasaki would have no problem. Deeres diff lock is on the back axle only. Kaw's is front with a locked back axle. I helped run the test on these Deeres they are good machines, but you dont even have enough leg room to keep your feet inside. The steering wheel is upright like a bus too. When you want to get out ran and outperformed bring her on down and let the Teryx eat it up!
My dad and I are thinking of selling my 4 wheeler and getting one of these gators or a Polaris Ranger. We are gonna keep the AMT 600 gator though cause theres not too many of those around anymore. Menards sells 4x4 UTV's and we may get one from them.
@mattrax55. We get your point, I would love to see your little 30hp Polaris pull 8 of those. I use a John deere gator hpx 4x4 that can pull that. And I have watched a John deere gator 825i out pull the newest ranger.
Gators are tuff when it comes to work, off road anything will out perform them though. My gator CS (the homeowner one) pulled a trailer with 2 round bales on it and didn't think twice. BUT at the same time it was horrible offroading. You really can't compare gotors to polaris and Kawasaki. John Deere doesn't make gators with "play" in mind...
@MrFootie100: my brother worked at a polaris dealer, he said that the polaris seem cheap and WAY Over priced, and they all ways came in for broken axles and some other problems, but he said it depends on how you use it lol I have used a gator hpx which is way different from the polaris ranger, and it's a beast. and it's only got 20hp, but the new gator 825i's are vary good quality and you can work AND play in it it's not just for work you can get it with foxshocks which is crazy awesome. But it
@lkussmaul It looks like it would be alot of fun around town! Do you mind saying what state you are in? Any troubles getting it registered? I am in Kansas and would love one of these on the street but have always heard you couldn't get it done.
@lkussmaul Not too sure what you could do for more speed.. I don't think the Gators were really made for going fast, but hey, im sure theres something you could do :) I think i'm going to get one of these Gators pretty soon, they seem so awesome, and it beats my 625i by a mile! More vids of it please
@TheHondadirtbiker Thanks, I really love my Gator. It's all street legal and you should see the looks I get. I just wish it went about 10 mph faster, then I could keep up w/ traffic. Any suggestions ?
@starslayer111 Sorry to burst your bubble, but you don't have to drive the gator with your knees, trust me I'm 6'1. And I have plenty of space for my feet. I don't know what gator you drove but I'm sure it was not the 825i
@lkussmaul where do you live if its street legal where i live no ATV UTV are alowed on roads.. i was looking at a Joiner Renegade 800 it has turning signal 50 HP (i think) and liecences plate holder but down side is its a manuel but i can still drive it like a pro
my 300 FourTrax would pull that no problem, maybe I would have to put a rock that size on the rear rack to get traction but shell go ps. why would you have a rock as a pet?
I believe you stand correcrted. The front diff. lock on the gator is next to the gear shift lever. It is not, I repeat not a rear diff. lock only. You pull the front diff. lock up when engaging the front two wheels in the lock position. The Deere you tested must not have been the 825I. I would love to go head to head w/ your Teryx. Let me know the time and place. Then reason I look to be a little on the light side is I have parkinson's and my balance is not the best. I am in Ohio.
" i'd like to see you do that, kawasaki" well bud, ive got some bad news for ya. our kawasaki mule would pull that with half the rpm's like it ain't even there. a mule, new and old, is a workhorse. the new gators are a performance vehicle.
Tristan102100 The Mule is a golf cart with a roll cage. I don't like the gator either, but come on man.. trying to say your mule would out pull that gator is nonsense. That's like bringing a knife to a gunfight.
i own BOTH a mule and a gator. the gator is "more like a glorified go cart", thats EXACALLY what the sales manager at our cal coast JD dealer said. i own both. the gator is air cooled, tiny muffler making it noisy and inefficient, there is nothing for suspention, or rollover protection, and has a low tow rating of 800 lbs. 4WD is not selectible and chain driven, the diff lock is possibly the most difficult thing to operate. there is no clutch brake, so every time you shift you are grinding gears, and thats the least of what i have to say about it. the mule has easily selectible 4x4 and diff lock controls, high and low range with a clutch brake for smooth shifting. has a 677cc liquid cooled v twin that has a lot of power and the water jacket helps to limit noise, along with the muffler the size of 4 footbals. suspention on all 4 corners, 1200 lb tow rating, a SLIDE THROUGH CAB( the gator has a console in between the 2 seats that you need to climb over) and the high-low transmission, 1/3 bigger engine, better designed clutch AND experience all say that the mule pulls much harder than the gator. i realize i am referring to a 90's gator, but i am also referring to a 90's mule, 2 compareable machines.. in the 80's the pre-gator( AMT) was GIVEN AWAY with the urchase of john deere tractors because the dealers could not get rid of them otherwise. if you looked in your UTV history books, you would find that the mule was the pioneer of reliable, hard WORKING( not play!) utility vehicle. most UTV's nowadays have too much sport in them to be any good on a farm or ranch, but luckily we still have the kubota RTV and the kawasaki MULE!
Mules are the runts of the UTVs. They have no power and have no good performance. Bottom line. The mule is like a gas golf cart. There's no point in having it
Keep an eye on this guy when he sells it. GOD knows what else he put this though trying to pull things like this. Guess that's what happens when you got more money than you know what to do with,
XD... you move like you're made of glass bro, I get it.. you're old and don't want to brake something but sweet jezus... If I was behind walking and could not pass by I would throw your waky ass somewhere XD And bro... calm your Deer down, you want power?, can am maverick... go home now and slowly sit your ass down, like you do XD
impressive sir i love the power of those gators. i just bought an old 5 wheeled gator about 5 months ago and i just love it. please check out my video on it.
Good way to toast the belt. There is always a right tool for the job and being the excavator is in the background i would choose that to move that rock vs risking the chance to toast the belt on that gator. Nonetheless it shows it can do it. Good video
I sense lies here. Ranger's have never had breakage issues and unlike the gator, you have a place for your feet and don't have to drive it with your knees.
I love seeing small engines towing a big capacity.
aww he's so cute how old is he? did you have him since he was a pebble?
The reason I look drunk is because I have Parkinson's thanks for the kind comment !
How long have you had it? I know someone that's had it for 15 years. He can't drive, and needs care 24/7. God bless you don't look drunk at all to me.
I feel for you my friend parkinsons is a horrible disease I wish you luck on your journey my grandfather has it and just remember to keep your head up high and live life to the fullest

Here, hold my beer. I can do that with my self propelled toro
I should have taken a picture this summer of the Gator pulling the 3 wagons of hay in the hay field with a fat tire on one of the wagons. That had everyone's head turned.I bet your Polaris Ranger could do twice that !!
Gonna blow that engine.
No, Just melt the belt LOL
The gator can pull about 1.5k pounds it will be fine
I checked out the rsx and decided to keep the one I have. I feel its a more versatile machine. I just put a front wench on it so I can wench it onto the rack I had made for the bed of my dually. I wouldn't have used the tow bar to pull the rock but go the John deers haha!
@TheIceBurglar I am from OHIO. The bmv has had an on and off policy. I just cought them on the on time to register my gator. We just got our new 825i today! i love it! sounds cool too!
personally I like the diesel gator, our hpx pulled a Toyota out of a 3' ditch in the snow. (didn't need a rock in the back either)
lol a brick pulling a rock while sounding like a voltswagen
Had a flash flood my way,,looking to re-adjust the 500lb.+ big creek rocks....will maybe use my Kubota B-18 tractor...the strap idea to grasp the rocks without lifting them seems the only way to move them...thanks
He moves in slow motion like the video is being played time warped lol
Now thats what I call running on all 3 cylinders! :) Great vid
excellent video, sir! I'm thinking more and more about finally purchasing one of these. this video has helped my purchasing decision greatly!
John deer has reliability we have a 17 year old gator that has been through hell and back and runs fine Kubota has towing and torque ours can tow a Jeep jk with little struggle but it is slow as hell Polaris is fast decent at towing and is fun to drive honda is reliable and look good and can am is fast as hell but breaks easily Yamaha fast indistructible I have one and it's been flipped ran into trees jumped wheelied and runs fine I am not hating I am making a point

wow, you pulled a rock wanna cupcake?
Damn pops took you a min to strap up your pet rock
I like john deere dont get me wrong. Please. We have some old tractors of john deeres. I didnt get the gator in 2009 because the 825i wasnt available. You do realize your gator has a Kawasaki motor in it right? Lmfao :D
@clayton carberry no dummy. This one is a inline 3 cylinder. The older models have V twins
My Kawasaki would have no problem. Deeres diff lock is on the back axle only. Kaw's is front with a locked back axle. nice use of witness and challenge, yeah ive got a polaris...
That’s how you take your rock for a walk!

@lkussmaul it is rear the front is auto locking rear is mechanicly accuated and this is from deere.com so look if you don't believe

I would get the 825i! We have a 825i and its is the best! I would highly recommend the John Deere 825i!!
No problem. Pull more than that everyday
now that was sharp..just wondering what the JD's carry for a transmission?..are they hydrostatic?
@lkussmaul
It looks like it would be alot of fun around town! Do you mind saying what state you are in? Any troubles getting it registered? I am in Kansas and would love one of these on the street but have always heard you couldn't get it done.
what do you think of my 5 wheel gator? i got lucky on finding one close to me. it has a Kawasaki 8hp motor on it.
Hey man, when u gonna figure out how to put that strap on.
@lkussmaul Not too sure what you could do for more speed.. I don't think the Gators were really made for going fast, but hey, im sure theres something you could do :) I think i'm going to get one of these Gators pretty soon, they seem so awesome, and it beats my 625i by a mile! the motor sounds way different then any side by side i know almost sounds small car like. kinda like it
Ya right! Golf carts Electric these gators are 3 cylinder, gas,812cc!
I know, i was just kidding haha, nice Gator man if i had that it would be my baby hope you treat it with some TLC in your years of owning it !
The rhino could whip that little gator
Rock not that big
Ranger XP will whip that John Deere's ass~
This must be great for the coupling.
@TheHondadirtbiker Thanks, I really love my Gator. It's all street legal and you should see the looks I get. I just wish it went about 10 mph faster, then I could keep up w/ traffic. Any suggestions ?

my 300 FourTrax would pull that no problem, maybe I would have to put a rock that size on the rear rack to get traction but shell go
ps. why would you have a rock as a pet?
We just bought the 825i.
I have parkinsons, I assure you I have not been drinking
Might of had a couple PBRs with lunch
A big wheel burrow could move that rock, look at its size compared to the tires!
no only the Ranger RZR 4 seater is 15 grand brand new. everything else of Polaris is about the same as the Gators
why would anyone need this? well because everyone always pulls a pet rock around all the time of course...
I'm kinda wondering how the diesel and gasoline versions compare in terms of power.
Kevin Peavler diesel has way more torque and power they're the workhorses
I believe you stand correcrted. The front diff. lock on the gator is next to the gear shift lever. It is not, I repeat not a rear diff. lock only. I think the box on the rsx850i is smaller than the 825i.
@ARMYGUY20101 Sure all the lights work, I will show you w/ a video.
how much are planning on selling this one for?
Do the gators vibrate as bad as polaris does bc i have a polaris ranger and that thing vibrates like crazy
do the lights work
Sounds like a damn weedwacker
I would pull a rock with my 99 Ranger but I dont know where to find a rock this big..
Why not just use the excavator there in the background to move the rock??
" i'd like to see you do that, kawasaki" well bud, ive got some bad news for ya. our kawasaki mule would pull that with half the rpm's like it ain't even there. a mule, new and old, is a workhorse. the new gators are a performance vehicle.
OMG HAHAHAHHA A KAWASAKI MULE! BWAHAHAHAHAHHAAHHAHAHAHA
only the pioneer of utility vehicles!

The Gator is fine for utility only, but after riding one, where did the engineers want you to put your left foot?
My dirt bike could pull that and can you move any slower
is your dirtbike like 2000cc or what?
nice job
People are assholes.... I love the Gator. Its sick.
What 5th wheel gator? AMT600?
Keep an eye on this guy when he sells it. GOD knows what else he put this though trying to pull things like this. Guess that's what happens when you got more money than you know what to do with,
you guys are all sick, for making fun on this old guy.
my 600 gator pulls my 25 foot yamaha ski boat out of the lake
is that a deisel
Um impressed!
yea but Deere charges you 2,000 dollars more than a ranger just cause it their name brand. same goes with the Case IH scout.
PET ROCK CRULTEY!!!!
2013 polaris ranger 800!!!!lets do it!!!
XD... you move like you're made of glass bro, I get it.. you're old and don't want to brake something
but sweet jezus... If I was behind walking and could not pass by I would throw your waky ass somewhere XD
And bro... calm your Deer down, you want power?, can am maverick... go home now and slowly sit your ass down, like you do XD
Kabota rtv 900 vs rhino 700 in a tug what wins??
The one kawaski uses the same engine. FYI
M8. I don't want to burst your little john deere bubble. But my polaris ranger 6x6 will pull a three ton ballast roller, no problem.
impressive sir i love the power of those gators. i just bought an old 5 wheeled gator about 5 months ago and i just love it. please check out my video on it.
Yes it could buddy
Jesus people he even said I bet any other atv could the same
my polaris ranger hd pulled a cadillac escalade up hil in mud, top that john deere
Just taking it out for a walk..
Good way to toast the belt. There is always a right tool for the job and being the excavator is in the background i would choose that to move that rock vs risking the chance to toast the belt on that gator. Nonetheless it shows it can do it. Good video
With good tires I good do this with my outlaw 525
My 855D could out pull that any day
my 9R 640 can out pull your 855D all day
I pulled cement steps out with my honda rincon like it was nothing twice the size of your pet rock bud.
Our Kawasaki mule and Polaris ranger could pull that pebble no problem.
Or John Deere has a 625i 2 cylinder and a 825i is a 3 cylinder.
rock from moon
I sense lies here. Ranger's have never had breakage issues and unlike the gator, you have a place for your feet and don't have to drive it with your knees.
Polaris still have a plastic floor or not?
