Not too sure about the whistles tho dude. That was for the Fakers. I was downstairs in a very dark dirty sweaty illegal rave with perhaps only 50 of us in the room when Carl Cox on white label played this - three decks - he kept the intro going for what felt like hours - just repeating it - then he dropped the heavy kicks. It's one of the only times through that period I remember lucidly. One of the defining musical moments of my life. Awesome.

What a belter. Me and my mates would go nuts to this track at the sub club unders in glasgow Panama Jaks and across the bridge heading towards the Gorbals SW1 then changed name to Hacienda what a time and that I was dancing to that 32 years ago 🎉😮

1990 was still a time where dance music so young it was just lumped together without sub genres, this track was one of the earliest examples of what would become trance.
Never regarded this record as Trance. Even though it happens to refer to it in the title. This was always out and out slamming Dutch / Belgian style (early proto hardcore techno) Techno for me. (Yes I know it's from the Netherlands so please don't bite me :) ) Always Techno. Never Trance. Too rough, hard, technological sounding, gritty, industrial sounding to be Trance. Slamming tune. Proper Trance is crap in my opinion.

I agree. Never considered it as techno. For me it was a crossover from rave to trance in the early 90's and was the sign of things to come. Rave was also crossing over into multiple directions such as DNB and jungle. Exciting times. Although in the late 80's there were so many sub genres of house...deep house..garage house..hip house..to name but a few. Starting off with acid house of course. My favourite being piano house. 😀 Those Italians knew how to make feel good tracks back then.
I disagree. 1989. were the years genres were actually defined. House. Acid House. Techno. Then Hardcore. Nowadays everything sounds pretty generic and very bland. Nothing genre defining at all and sounds the same.

But from a purely personal perspective I need to dig a whole lot deeper compared to back then. Instead of 10 feet, about 50-60 feet! That being said, there's probably better music around now than say 12-15-20 years ago. In my opinion. Best years for house, techno etc were 1987-1992(3) overall in my opinion :)
