What a story 😮I love the way you make your music match the stage of the story so clever and natural what a talent you have !! A lot of damage was done back in the day with old fashioned ideas so glad a lot has changed for kids today especially around hospitals .
Another great episode bro, thank you. I remember during one of company's team building exercise, they brought in a top notch motivator. He asked everyone what they remembered from their xmas when they were kids, being the only Maori in the aussie company, and out of 80 people sitting there, he asked me. I answered truthfully, and surprised myself, I did start off being a bit of a wag but the more I spoke, they more I remembered, it went like this ... "My first memory of xmas was looking through the limbs of the xmas tree, I remember the feel of the branches, the weight of the tree, the smell, it was intoxicating ... as I laid beneath the decorated tree I tried to climb. I also remember the wooden spoon across my arse, as my older teenage sister dispensed punishment for messing up her decorated tree ..." When I started, I actually got into it and could see, feel and smell everything ... spooky really. The expert motivator told everyone I was a particular type of person ... bla bla bla
Another awesome yarn there clay I can relate mate I only had my mum and she meant the world to me sometimes we just don’t get that choice if we’re going to have a good farther . But to me my mum was both. All the best clay thanks again for sharing your life journey. 🙏 Colin 🤠☕️☕️😘🫶
Thanks Clay. I connect a lot with a few things you talk about with every one of your yarns. You have a gift, very many gifts. I listen to quite a lot of things and easily get bored. But you hold my attention, Bro, no matter what you're reflecting on. My mother left me for a month when I was 12 months old. I stayed with a lady and I cried, and cried, a lot. The only other person I know who was left by his mother is Gabor Mate. But his Jewish mother handed him to a stranger when the Nazis was rounding them all up them all up in Hungary when the genocide and exterminations ramped up. I have never thought about the fact that in the '60's, mothers left their kids in some situations...for hours, days or weeks. Another thing you have helped me with tonight, is to do with my partner. He badly wanted his father's approval. He also loved danger. Motorbikes. High speeds. Those were the main ones. Lots of speed. Drugs, alcohol too. I have often thought about his madness on motorbikes, and his disregard for his own life. Good yarns, Clay, they are reflective, and very interesting and entertaining...all with guitar strumming. A winning style of creation. Yeah, they're good. Excellent.
I was hospitalised when I was 4 years old. I only remember two things, my father holding me in his arms with a deeply worried look on his face after vomiting in the toilet, and wetting the bed at one point in the hospital. I’ve struggled with mental health over the decades, more so as I’ve gotten older, and I wonder how much that experience has shaped who I am today. I also have had similar struggles with relationships (and still do) and have left a trail of “hurt” in my wake, sadly. So this one definitely resonates with my life experience.
Thanks for sharing your wisdom brother clay. Hearing things you have shared over the years has definitely planted the seed for me many times. It all starts with that thought. Cheers
A very sad story but what you have faced and conquered has made you who you are today. Without those struggles, one never knows what path your life could have taken. You are a very wise man and am glad you are sharing that wisdom with others. Perhaps that is your purpose. :) Self reflection is often hard and you are right about needing to find out why a person is what they are and what they do. Until that time, you can never change it. :( Thanks for sharing your story, I am absolutely positive it will help many people who have been following your journey. :) :)
The will to live. Yes. Life can be hard and knock the shit out of us, but you never know what good things are just around the corner. Take another step forward. Learn. Grow.

God bless beloved. I don't know if anyone on hear religious but I am and I pray for all of us even if you don't want acknowledge it or not forgive me for been a bit imposing I'm not trying to push my beliefs on you good barstards and women 💯 God bless beloved ❤️ 💙 💖 🙏
Thanks for sharing, another great yarn, have watched all your throwback stories and i enjoy them however the guitar playing through the whole story makes it a little hard to tune in and enjoy the yarn.
I know you are a music teacher and it's ur life but but could you not play the guitar while talking I love you're videos I watch all of them love them but I have trouble concierationg on it with you playing the guitar that's due to my head injury where I almost died. You also being someone who has had an illness maybe you can relate I don't want to be that guy but otherwise I'm going to have to unsubscribe who's I was one of you're first when you started the change.
This is valuable feedback Richard. The problem is not the guitar but the volume. I am still learning to set the video & Audio up. Give me a little time and I will get the balance right so the music is far away in the background. I appreciate you taking the time to comment. This is constructive and useful to the channel. Thanks for the help bro.
I find those who have been hurt will help others in their times of need . Great yarn mate
