    • @ClemonsBoats
      @ClemonsBoats  Год назад +1

      In the rougher waves we ran with the trim buried and the jack plate buried but at a slow speed as to keep the bow up more. In bigger swells it’s important to keep it trimmed down but run slow to keep the bow “up” if that makes sense. We ran between 20-25 in the bigger 3.5+ waves. When running the trough (side ways with them) we tap up to 45 and trimmed up to 2 or so
      In the smaller chop on the bay 2 feet or less we ran with the plate on 2 abs the trim on 2 at 40-55 with no issues. Great ride and very dry in both cases.

      We had “white caps” all the way across the Bay but smaller waves. This is at our “inlet” and in Lake Erie sometimes you get very big waves without white caps. This inlet has some current and break walls, and some times the wind wraps around a bit. • @ClemonsBoats

      It is much slower at 68-69 WOT. Jag with the 250 is 71-72 and the PUMA is 76-77. It’s faster out of the hole than the PUMA or Jag. The ride is better than both the PUMA and the Jag and that is saying A LOT if you’ve ever ridden in them. All three hold in turns like they are on rails and the quality is great on all three. Cats you have to learn to drive - iKon drives itself. Deck on the ikon makes the Jag look
      Small, it is enormous.
      All three boats have their pluses and minus’ and it’s really and apples and oranges comparison. You really need to run both and decide what you like better and the good news is all three are amazing boats that you truly can’t go wrong with!

    • @ClemonsBoats
      @ClemonsBoats  Год назад +1

      We were in and out of the throttle the entire time here due to the size of the waves. With the spacing on Erie you have to be very careful. In general we ran 40-50 in the light 1-2 chop. It really carves that little stuff up and you don’t get the usual jarring in the short stuff.
      Once we got in the larger waves we were running 20-25 when straight in them and with them following and would kick it up to 35-40 running the trough and safely navigated them.
      I’m guessing with more seat time a 4 blade prop we could have pushed it a little further but it was very comfortable at those speeds

I fished a BFL as co-angler with David Hayward in early 2000's, lake probably had 2 to 3 footers coming from north east we took off out of Sandusky Bay he ran out on the west side of Kelley's north to Canadian waters, when we got there I was kidding him about being close to Mitchell's Bay because of seeing water tower on shore. Never got a drop of water from any spray on us, settled in to his spot and looked and all other boats going that way were still miles back beating the crap out of their boats. Finally on the way back he hit one those waves you don't see and got a little wet, he laughed and said heck if we don't come back wet they won't think we fished at all, he knew how to run a boat on Erie for sure
