Honestly, I don't know what I like more in this video, your improvisation or the information about this magic decay knob :) In any case, the video is great as usual!
I've had one of these for about a year now, it's great! Use it on bass in a band setting. If you set it so the second button is on "undo"- play your first layer, when you go to overdubs, your layers will fade away the same, but hitting undo brings back the first layer intact.
Funny to see this review, 7-8 years ago when all of the loop pedals on the market were very focused on the live looping market and focused I picked up the original Infinity Looper, (which was more than twice the price!) because it was one of few to have a loop decay feature. After spending all that money on the thing, it ended up to only have like 7 values of loop decay, and even the smallest setting was a very jarring volume drop when the loop cycled. Awesome that they made such a big improvement in that area on the Infinity Looper 2, and for such a great price! I'm going to have to pick this up for sure!

I just picked one up about a month a go to use with my Soma Lyra-8, it's great!
Bill, great to see you back in the saddle again! Hope all of your loved ones are back at 'em too. Thanks for your video, the initial sounds were very woodwind-like. Then it turned into brass around 3:15. Fun stuff.
And, I got one today. I also got The Depths for my Blues board. I also have a Spatial Delivery and a Ghost Echo coming for the Blues board. The Infinity 2 is going into the loop of my cr120 combo.
Great video!! This helped me pick a looper, this seems like a good package to write, perform, and experiment with. Glad to have found ur channel, I’m not an ambient guitarist but watching vids abt it helps me calm down
Bill, first of all merry Christmas, and happy new year to you and hope you had a beautiful time with your family. Listen, I am interested in the pig Tronics I like that idea of loops that feed out so let’s say you’re playing, if I understand you, right you’re playing five different loops, and while you’re playing them, the other ones are fading out according to how long you want that to go with that decay control. So, in other words, if you just stop playing completely, it will keep the king until all the loops are gone right? Are there other loop devices out there that I could look into that maybe have more features and that feature of decay. I am very interested in that. I have the Roland 505 but it’s the old one and it doesn’t have a DK. I have to feed it out with a volume pedal but I can’t build layers like you do.
Yes - the decay features allows the loops to fade out while you are playing. In addition, if you stop playing the loop layers will fade out to silence, as long you keep overdub mode active. Another looper that has this feature is the TC Electronic Ditto X4. In addition, some of the multi-effects units such as the Line 6 Helix, HX Stomp, POD Go, and Fractal can offer similar features.
The DITTO X4 (now many years old) did all this as well. It would be nice to know what differences (if any) you found. Specially, whether the cracking sound that appears when pressing the loop button while playing is also present in this unit. Thanks.
Agree. But still this new unit does not have the same capabilities for syncing the two loops, etc. And the Boomerang is even bigger. Shame TC is not updating the X4.
Bill, can you make each loop different lengths note based on the length of number of bars. For example, can one loop be 21 seconds and the other 37 seconds etc, and then play them together so they drift out of sync?
Good to see you back in action - and able to talk, too! I’ve been looking forward to this video, and you’ve convinced me that I need this pedal. Although, since I just bought a Gamechanger Light Pedal and a Beetronics Swarm, it will have to wait.
I got mine last week. I might buy 4 of these and connect them as inserts in my mixer. I use a bunch of synths and want to have at least 4 different decays going at once.
Following, as an owner of the X4. I love a lot about it, but it does have the glitch sometimes, even when starting with a blank loop. I do like how small the Infinity is, especially since I use pedals on my tabletop or shelf when doing synth stuff.
Hi Orion! Do you have a video about Convolver IR Loader/Convolution Reverb? I'm fascinated with that technology. The only pedals that i found that do that is Poly Beebo/Digit or Logidy EPSi. May be there is another way to have convolution?
I have the boss RC-300. It's a tank but it has 3 tracks with a separate stop/start switch for each one. Super intuitive. I've often wondered why there aren't more loopers around that employ this configuration...size constraints I suppose. Even though the RC is clunky and the effects are kind of useless, I haven't found another looper that fits the bill. Of course it's not cheap, so there's that.
Awesome thanks, and (belatedly) great to see you back. Sorry if this is a dumb question, but where do you place the volume pedal in this setup (you mentioned delay is after looper)? I'm hoping to used the Infinity 2 in a stereo rig, but confused on signal chain (I only have a mono volume pedal).
I personally would put the volume pedal before the looper and before whichever pedal splits the signal into stereo (typically chorus, delay or reverb). Also, I would suggest experimenting with putting the looper both before and after delay to see which works best for you.
Good to see you're well again Bill - hope you're family are OK as well. Cool pedal - I was thinking of getting a TC Electronics Ditto X4 - as you have one how does it compare to the Infinity 2?
The X4 has more features than the Infinity 2 that give it more flexibility in how the 2 loops work together. You can also activiate the effects such as octave and reverse with both loops active, which is not available on the Infinity 2. Makes sense though, as the X4 footprint is much larger. Better do more for the extra real estate!
@@chordsoforionthe infinity 2 layering seems having splendid sound tone, when concerning your demo. Is the X4 tone comparable (better/worst) in comparison? BTW thanks for you clear/soulful videos
I have a Ditto X4 at the very end of my chain because the ability to set it up to operate in record-overdub-play mode means I can capture the delay and reverb tails for my evolving soundscapes. Seems like this would be a perfect and economical looper to set up at the beginming for those frippertronic lead parts before the delays etc. Didn't know I needed two loopers before this video...
On paper, this is the perfect looper for me. But I've been doing my research on this recently and there seems to be significant build quality issues with Pigtronix nowadays. Also, a lot of customers said that the company is not good with after sales service. That is why I am yet to pull the trigger on this looper.
I don't really have a go to, as I don't always use reverb (there's none on this vid for example). I tend to move from pedal to pedal (or plugin) when I do use one. But I do very much love the Hall reverb setting of the original Neunaber Immerse.
I think it all depends on what you are looking to achieve. The blooper has a very different goal compared to the Infinity2. Best to consider how you would want to make use of a looper, and then pick the one that has the features you need.
This is wonderful. However, not available where I live at the moment. Which pedal, or pedals, would you recommend for a budget ambient guitar setup? I have fuzz, chorus, reverbs etc.
@@chordsoforion Maybe I better add that I want to create layers of loops which are NOT synced, and which have different lengths. Does this require more than one loop pedal or can some loop pedals do that? Thanks again. :)
If you want to create multiple loops with differing layers, then you will need a looper with more than one loop. The TC Electronic Ditto X4 is a good option, as it has 2 loops, both of which can run independently.
Hi Bill, great informative video once again. Does it need to be in overdub mode before it will decay?, or will it continue to decay naturally when you click the pedal off altogether and just playing over the top with a different effect? Thanks 🙏
