I want to give you my list of album favorites. I realize you have a huge list! If you get to zero, one, or many of these albums, of course that is perfectly fine.
My criteria is the following…no greatest hits or live albums allowed. I picked albums that I thought are closest to a perfect greatest hits album. Sometimes an artist has been working on an album since middle school. This many times makes for the first album being the best. Others build to a crescendo of an album that is closest to perfect. I could give you a further reason why each is on this list.
Thanks again for the style of reaction you provide to each wonderful album!
    Boston - Boston
Shania Twain - Come on Over
    Fleetwood Mac - Rumours
Bob Dylan - Blood on the Tracks
Mumford and Sons - Babel (Deluxe Version)
    Jewel - Pieces of You
Alanis Morissette - Jagged Little Pill
    Carole King - Tapestry
    Who - Who’s Next
Elton John - Goodbye Yellowbrick Road
    Billy Joel - The Stranger

The fact that Queen had the guts to even record Bohemian Rhapsody is awe inspiring. It seems impossible that a band could come up with something like that, and then execute it so wonderfully.
And while Freddie is justifiably the star of the show, the other 3 band members are incredibly underrated. Brian May is one of my favorite guitarists... his feel is perfect, he realizes that sometimes less is more. To me, rather than dominate songs his guitar sometimes is more like singing a duet with Freddie, if that makes sense.
Great reaction, I look forward to more Queen reactions for sure.

It's worth noting that, aside from the ukulele & percussion, every other sound in Good Company is made by Brian May and that remarkable "Red Special" guitar. Plus it is his vocal as well.

Indeed, and if you listen again to the instrumentation at the end, you’ll realize that it is literally a JAZZ BAND composition, with May’s guitar emulating the trumpets, trombones and woodwinds all individually. It’s amazing.

It's funny that one of my least favorite songs on the album, had one of my favorite moments in it. The "brass band" sound at the end of Good Company was _SO_ impressive, because it was all Brian May's guitar playing. Talk about elite guitar players.

Greetings and salutations, Crystal! I am on holiday and just got finished listening to Gustav Holst’s “The Planets” when I received your RUclips notification.
Flashback to March 1992. I was 19 years old and this new movie had came out called “Wayne’s World”. It featured “Bohemian Rhapsody” in an iconic scene and, amazingly, the song started getting played on Top 40 radio stations again. And, they even had a music video which aired on MTV almost every hour. It was crazy! But cool! Back then there was no TikTok or “Stranger Things” to help get a song back into the public consciousness or the music charts. I always loved this song and Queen. And, my Dad, sister and I were singing along to it and head banging years before Wayne and Garth. But it was awesome to see young people back then who never listened to Queen getting into them. I heard that before he died, Freddie got to see a rough cut of the iconic scene and Brian May said he laughed and loved it. 😊
“The Prophet Song” definitely has a Pink Floyd vibe and the trademark layered multi-track harmonies of Queen. Harmonies are missing in music today. Auto-tuning has replaced it. What a great rocker.
“Love Of My Life” never fails to choke me up. I don’t think you’ll ever hear a more sincere declaration of love. This one hits close to home for obvious reasons. It’s so beautiful and that harp gives it an ethereal feel. From the heavens. I think Freddie does all the vocals on this one.
“Good Company”-Brian May is a genius. Truly. Turning a guitar into a one-man band. No wonder he’s an astrophysicist. I picked up “When I’m Sixty Four” vibes on this one. A tongue-in-cheek and a wink to the 1920’s.
“God Save The Queen” is very good, but I always thought of it as a funny joke to end the album after the massive “Bohemian Rhapsody”. Sort of like The Beatles doing “Her Majesty” after the “Golden Slumbers”/“Carry That Weight”/“The End” medley.
Crystal, when you get to “Queen II” there is a song called “The March Of The Black Queen” which is very reminiscent of “Bohemian Rhapsody”. Please let me know what you think of it.
Last but not least, I think a great album is like a great road trip. You get lost along the way, but it’s ok because you make all of these unexpected turns which take you to amazing places and you always find your way home. Still, you are eager to go back for a ride.
P.S. I LOVE listening to you play and sing! 🙏❤️🤗

Wow thank you so very much for your wonderful thoughtfulness!! 🖤🤍🖤🤍 You are so much appreciated my good pal!!! And when you were talking about the scene from Wayne’s World I totally thought of the similarities between that revival of Bohemian Rhapsody to the revival Running Up That Hill has had with Stranger Things!!! The sweet guitar trills you noted at the beginning emulate the clarinet; when the full “band” joins in you can hear the trombone slides and the tuba. Really cool.

When the famous American rock experimentator Frank Zappa was once asked of what music aside of his own he listens to, he answered remarkably, "I like Queen. I like Gentle Giant". Gentle Giant led by PhD in composition from London Royal Academy Of Music, Kerry Minnear, actually also ended their album, the debut one, with the rendition of British National Anthem - five years earlier...

Go ahead and try it, everybody!
    It's impossible, right?! 😄
Brian May in The Prophet's Song sounds a little like Jimmy Page to me.
No complaints from me about it.
Love of My Life seems like a prelude to Bohemian Rhapsody, imo. I think it was one of the bands favorites to play Live.

Good Company is Brian May's ode to Traditional Jazz. May uses guitar to mimic every sound a traditional jazz band would play. Besides playing ukulele, May recreates clarinet, trumpet and trombone sounds on guitars with just a few pedal effects.

Incredible album huh? This was probably Queen's best era, and the previous two albums are part of it.
The March of the Black Queen (from Queen II) is often seen as a precursor to Bohemian Rhapsody, it has even more switches! Queen II also features the full version of Seven seas of Rhye. Sheer Heart Attack is an awesome eclectic album, right up there with A Night at the Opera.

Music has a way of just putting you in a time and place and I recall that feeling of seeing Bohemian Rhapsody on Top Of The Pops at xmas and knowing it was special. Glad you love Prophet Song and yeah Love Of My Life is really special with the wonderful classical piano/cello like guitar interplay.... not to mention Freddie's voice which was much softer back in those days....
Can't wait for you to hit Day At The Races as that contains Freddie's masterpiece "Take My Breath Away" which is my personal favourite Queen song and one which inspired me to take up piano.

Hi Crystal! It's great that you covered the entire album, a lot of it gets overlooked with B.R's massive popularity. Love Of My Life is amazing, it gets me every time. It seems to me that with what Queen was doing here, along with Elton John & ELO around the same time, a void was being filled that the Beatles left with their break up. Pop music needed a certain artistry and dynamics and those musicians carried on the Beatles' legacy (at least for a while). And hey, with Queen you get the hard rock element as well! Love your passion as always, cheers!

It's really fitting that a song from "A Night at the Opera" (the title of a Marx Brothers movie) includes the use of a harp. Harpo Marx played the harp, as well as piano and many other instruments and played them all brilliantly.
Just to get ahead of it, since I know someone would add this as a reply: the next album, "A Day at the Races" is also a Marx Brothers movie title.
I don't know what you know about "Weird Al" Yankovic, an artist best known for his song parodies, but on each album, he dedicates one track to picking up his accordion and doing a medley of pop songs that topped the charts since the last album, but in polka style. ANYWAY, after Freddie's death, Al put his medley tradition aside and instead did Bohemian Rhapsody in its entirety - in polka style. He titled it Bohemian Polka.

I've always felt like ANATO was like Queen's Sgt Pepper, in a sense that the album feels like a musical revue of sorts. Though not having any narrative of any kind, the songs still feel like they're tied together, forming a cohesive whole that makes it feel like a concept album. While each track being an excessive stylistic exercise, each one slightly preposterous, slightly over the top, and finally closing off with an epic mini-symphony, just like Pepper.

I agree, but I suspect a lot of them avoid doing full albums because of copyright issues. Reacting to one song then having it blocked isn't as frustrating as putting time into a whole album reaction and having it blocked, which happens even when cutting up the songs for the video.
