Murdeshwar is a town in Uttara Kannada district in the state of Karnataka, India, It is famous for the world's second tallest Shiva statue, the town lies on the coast of the Laccadive Sea and is also famous for the Murudeshwara Temple. The town has a railway station on the Mangalore-Mumbai Konkan railway route.
Temple Complex:
The Murudeshwar Temple is situated on the Kanduka Hill, surrounded by the Arabian Sea on three sides.
The temple complex is known for its towering gopuram (entrance tower), which is about 20 stories high and offers panoramic views of the surrounding area.
Main Attractions:
Shiva Statue: The temple is famous for the second-tallest Shiva statue in the world, standing at 123 feet (37 meters) and visible from great distances.
Raja Gopuram: The entrance tower, also known as the Raja Gopuram, is a prominent feature of the temple complex.
Temple Pond: There is a large pond within the temple complex where devotees can take a dip before entering the temple.
Gokarna, Karnataka
Gokarna is a small temple town located in the Uttara Kannada district of Karnataka state in southern India.
Om Beach: This is one of the most famous beaches in Gokarna, known for its distinctive shape resembling the auspicious Hindu symbol "Om." It offers a serene environment and is a great place for relaxation and water activities.
Kudle Beach: Another popular beach in Gokarna, Kudle Beach is known for its clean shores and scenic beauty. It's a great spot to enjoy the sunset and has several cafes along the shore.

Mahabaleshwar Temple: This ancient temple dedicated to Lord Shiva is a major pilgrimage site in Gokarna. The temple is known for its classic Dravidian architecture and the Atmalinga, which is believed to be a sacred representation of Lord Shiva.
Gokarna Main Beach: This beach is located near the Gokarna town and is known for its vibrant atmosphere. It's a good place to witness the local life and enjoy a stroll along the shore.

The nearest railway station to Gokarna is the Gokarna Road (GOK) railway station. However, Gokarna Road is a small station and not all trains stop here. The major railway station close to Gokarna is Ankola (ANKL), which is about 20 kilometers away. From Ankola, you can hire a taxi or take a bus to reach Gokarna.
