Cyndi Lauper is the MASTER of minimalist music being huge hits! True Colors has mostly strong and emotional vocals, as does Time After Time. It takes a REAL talent to fill that silence! Vote for her please at the rock and roll hall of fame!!!
Lauper is such a good arranger. The original demo of this song was a bombastic power ballad, Cyndi deconstructed it into a sparsely produced track, discussing the power of a whisper. She dedicated to her close friends who died of AIDs. It's truly a classic
She deserves recognition not just for a contribution to music but for her beautiful voice she's got her own sound. There's not another Artist out there that sounds like her.
To my friend Robin.... who suffered from the curse alcohol addiction, who I lost way too soon. Your suffering is over my beautiful friend... I will miss you everyday of my life

I watched a full show about the production of We Are The World and noticed how much Cyndi Lauper crushed her small part. It made me want to watch more of her work. She was an 80’s icon, but I appreciate her much more now that I’m older.
Same. Appreciate Cyndi Lauper's music so much more now. She's an icon and unique artist. Her songs are much deeper and speak to much more than they might seem at first, truly timeless.
Used to hear this on the radio a lot while outside doing a gardening job on weekdays for someone,if it wasn't raining, when it was a UK hit in October 1986. Nice family, whose elder daughter went to my college and my best friend had got to know. They had a big garden so there was plenty to keep me occupied for a while.
Now that I'm older, I can't hear this song without bawling like a baby. 🥹😭 It's a beautiful cry and an even more beautiful song. Thank you Cyndi! 👏🏼💖💘👏🏼
Cyndi, you saved my life with this song. I was 15 when True Colors was released and suppressing my sexuality which turned me into an outcast. Constantly mocked in secondary school over a six year period all I could think of was "I don't want to live anymore". Your song lifted me out of the darkness and showed me there was beauty in the world. You were like a guardian angel watching over me. Thank you eternally for saving me. ❣
Shame you turned into such bullies now. Why don’t you take your memories and turn them into something more positive than the viscous NASTY community that you are now. Think about it! 😡
“Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.” - John 14:6 (KJV) No man or woman can save you, only Christ. Look to Him for your deliverance, redemption, and saving, for that only comes through Jesus Christ.
I am in a state of depression at the moment, but still I wanted to say this. Remember that you are NEVER alone. Maybe you haven’t found the person who will listen to YOU , yet.. but you will. I promise you. YOU are beautiful. YOU are special. It doesnt matter if you suffer from borderline, social anxiety or are lonely. Remember that YOU are worth everything good in this life, and it will come for you
Dec 2020 needed to hear this song. Have not listened to in years. Its meaning was lost on me when younger. I needed to hear it as i was losing empathy from stress for someone struggling with mental health issues and the strain it has on relationships. Took a moment listening to remember the person behind the symptoms , beautiful song.
This song says it all. I'll always be there for you. Your true colors are beautiful like a rainbow. I see your true colors and that's why I love you so don't be afraid😊
When this video first came out on MTV in the 80s, we were all blown away, because no one had ever seen ANYTHING like this! ( Especially the skirt made out of newspaper strips!) Now, I’m blown away by the imagination and artistry of Cyndi Lauper, who was always way ahead of her time.

I feel that she is so true to herself. Her words are truly her words. That must be something very difficult to many people. And, that's why I like her.
This song really reminded me my mom whose battling a stage 4 cancer. This was her really one of the most favorite songs. I always remember when I was small, everytime I fell asleep from her while she's carrying me, she used to play this song and eventually became my favorite song. Sadly, she passed away 10 yrs ago while I'm just a little kid.
You were Piss Drunk, when you fell asleep. Being carried, while Drunk, makes you Seasick. You Vomited, on your Mom and in your Mom Vomit or "Momit", she saw your "True Colors." Riddle, solved. Sorry, i cannot solve Cancer.

Stop wasting your time by provocating fights on the internet when you can't in real life and do something valuable with your time.
Every few years, I need this. I need to hear this. I first heard this when I was a little boy. But, sometimes, I need to be reminded that I am a good man. Maybe I even need to be reminded of what that is! Thank you, Cyndi. You sang to me the words that most can't even say. And, I did need it. Once more. It has been a rough couple of years. I'm trying to put things back together. And this does help. I hope that it felt good for you to read that. It is true.

Kacey Davis Agreed. So pure and emotional. Also, for any folks saying they like voices of newer versions better ... apparently they aren't aware that auto-tune wasn't a thing back then like now. Today, even musicians who can sing are using auto-tune. When will it stop so younger generations can know what people actually sound like and who is actually talented vocally? It's crazy.

Cyndi Lauper is the MASTER of minimalist music being huge hits! True Colors has mostly strong and emotional vocals, as does Time After Time. It takes a REAL talent to fill that silence! Vote for her please at the rock and roll hall of fame!!!
I always preferred her over Madonna.
😂🎉😂🎉😂😢😂😮😂😅😂😅😂
Lauper is such a good arranger. The original demo of this song was a bombastic power ballad, Cyndi deconstructed it into a sparsely produced track, discussing the power of a whisper.
She dedicated to her close friends who died of AIDs. It's truly a classic
It really is.
Wow. That's genius right there.

She deserves recognition not just for a contribution to music but for her beautiful voice she's got her own sound. There's not another Artist out there that sounds like her.

I watched a full show about the production of We Are The World and noticed how much Cyndi Lauper crushed her small part. It made me want to watch more of her work. She was an 80’s icon, but I appreciate her much more now that I’m older.
Same happened to me, she nailed her part and reminded me that we are blessed to have such a talented human being among us.
Me tooooooo

She brings back so many memories from the 80s. Such a unique, heartful voice. Miss her.
😡
“Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.”
- John 14:6 (KJV)
No man or woman can save you, only Christ. Look to Him for your deliverance, redemption, and saving, for that only comes through Jesus Christ.

VERY MUCH indeed. :)
It's crazy. Cyndi's voice was and continues to be perfection. This is one of my favorite songs. I Love Cyndi.
