Observe - F2FS and EXT4 aren't that far apart in the comparison to each other. So EXT4 already must be ssd and flash life friendly.

Sadly it does not mean anything for regular users. All these factors seem to have been scaled to enterprise use. Performance/endurance on data center SSDs is different to "consumer" grade SSDs anyways. It is highly unlikely this will bring any meaningful benefits for regular users, if it gets adopted at all.

you can buy ssds made for enterprise and do the exact thing.

You have a great channel Nick. You talk about the topics (and software) that we as a community should be talking about.

Let's hope they have a snapshots in their roadmap.

      I’m pretty sure they do

Until then, you could use dm-snapshot with it.

Looks like btrfs might be the best choice at present.

nice video! can I just install Arch in my notebook with this FS or is targeted to data centers *exclusively*?

This file system will be available to everyone in the mainline kernel but it’s going to be a while before it is released. There is no stable version currently available

im using ext4 with my nvmes, how does it stand with ssd life span degradation?

That’s not a simple calculation because you have to consider individual use cases but you could compare FileSystems to each other and see how projected longevity compares

Hey, how do I uninstall the dual-boot in-case I need to? It made me a bit worried with the device to boot on because you set it on Windows Boot Manager, and i hope it wont delete windows as well if I want to uninstall Ubuntu and keep Windows

Well ok. Although an interesting video and this SSDFS new fs candidate seems really promising, the cynic in me says "Good grief, not yet ANOTHER Linux file system"! So I'll expect this fs to be an option in new Linux installations say, five years from now? 🤷‍♀
