Ucanaan dolls are lovely, I see lots of beautiful pictures of them on instagram. And some faceups here in youtube. It's a lovely form, if you are into customizing your dolls, there's potential 🌈
I was so down to customize the ucanaan doll bc the printed makeup looked ugly but I looked into it more and the uncanaan/Doris/kilig doll head is a very obvious recast. I don’t have hundreds to spend on nice dolls but I wouldn’t buy a cheap recast if it meant stealing from actual artists :(
I just received my Ucanaan doll today! She’s my first BJD, and she’s beautiful. Her face is even prettier in person, her hair is just lovely, and her clothes are fantastic. I chose Weiya (blonde dressed all in pink) because I loved her look. I will definitely get more of these dolls! I’m glad you love her, but just so everyone knows Ucanaan and even Smart Doll are not true BJDs. Ball-Jointed Dolls have ball joints. Ucanaan and even Smart Doll are MJDs, Mechanical Jointed Dolls.
Not me I like both of them smart doll is not realistic it’s more manga\ anime and the amazon one is more affordable and it comes with free accessories.
Danny Choo said that the joints for all Smart Dolls will always be a different color than the body, because they’re made of a different material, so it would be impossible for him to get an exact match. I’m guessing this is the case for a lot of companies as well, including the Ucanaan company. (:
the video was just to show the differences, not about happiness lol. personally, I feel like the amazon doll is worth it, there's better reflexes, and the doll gives me a porcelain and kawaii vibe. especially for the cheap price, you can always find more accessories on etsy and amazon, i'd prefer the amazon doll over the smart one since it's too expensive, and more fragile tbh.

Amazon is great for accessoiries, but not for dolls. about 95% of dolls on there are recasts (= unlicensed copies), including Eva BJD. So please be very careful what you buy there. >
which explains why it was so much cheaper. it also explains why the coloring between parts wasn't as smoothly transitioned as it should have been. and why the wig was a bit on the dodgy side with all the shedding.

Never had a doll while growing up but I always made stuff for one. I'm a 53yr young single parent of 2 new College Grads and came across this video in April. I was happy about the Smart Doll but sad of the price tag. My 25yr old daughter said I will buy you the Amazon version. So thanks for the Inspiration.

Myla Solorio agreed. resin is actually very expensive and the molds can only be used about five times before they have to get another one, so it makes sense that they’d be well over a hundred dollars. but this cheaper one isn’t resin i don’t think, i believe it’s plastic. ( there are lots of plastic bjds out there and this looks like one I saw, but I could be wrong ) so it does seem like the went up in price, because I don’t think it’s actually worth more than the large barbies. :/
It depends on the company, mirodoll and resinsoul have dolls that size and cheaper than fairyland. Fairyland, and Volks are like the Mercedes/BMW of the bjd hobby
The Smart doll definitely looks better. The UCanaan dolls are entry-level price friendly. That 400 dollar price point just scares me out of ever considering that market.
Unfortunately the reason Kiling Doll/EVA BJD/Dream Fairy/Fortune Days can be so beautiful and so cheap is that they illegally cast and slightly modify legitimate Ball jointed dolls. I don't say this to make anyone feel bad but the artists who create Smartdoll and ball-jointed-dolls are small operations, typically no more than 5 people. It is vital to not knowingly or deliberately purchase recasts or counterfeits. Dream Fairy for instance directly casted the hands from Volks Dollfie Dreams as well as hands from Angell-Studio. Two heads that have been counterfeited on this type of doll are Angell-Studio LiuRushi and Fairyland Minifee Woosoo. I have even seen an entire Fairyland Littlefee doll recasted and modified to have hinge joints. Please, if you are at all interested in the doll hobby, stay away from Dream Fairy/Fortune Days/Eva BJD/Kiling Doll. Save up your money to buy a doll that supports the artists and creators.
Well, the Amazon doll is more pocket friendly, plus you get extra things. The smart doll by far is my favorite, I just wish they would give you more for the price. Like an outfit.

My BJD journey actually began with the Popovy Sisters. (Thank you You Tube algorithm…clearly designed to separate me from my wallet and time.) 😅🙄😒 …wasn’t excited to wire money to Russia to some guy name Igor for a doll that could take a year to receive. Anyway, I digress. If I’m ever able to get a Popovy, I think it’d have to go into a glass box with its own security detail. What I like about the Smart Dolls (though in a different league) is that they don’t need to be carefully handled with gloves and yet the quality and craftsmanship is still there from the clothes, shoes, and body. You can enjoy them, travel with them, etc.
I like that the doll that you showed in this video is not expensive but my favorite would definitely be smart dolls and did you notice the other dolls hand is kind of a reddish color and I don't really like blush and hands so my favorite would definitely be the smart doll but from now on you can get the accessories from the other doll

just to let you know, the shoes u received with the Amazon Ucanann doll WILL stain smart doll feet. This happened to my wife's Independence smart doll, even with stain prevention socks on. Other than that, the Ucanann dolls are alright. The wife prefers smart doll also. :)
$500 vs $110, cheap wins here for me. I got the $110 doll and she’s great 👍🏾. But definitely looking for cheaper options of color 💯 I understand the product can be more expensive to produce. I do love the Smart Dolls but the expense is significant and the clothes are very expensive.😻

I always worry that cheaper dolls on places like Amazon and other online superstores will be recasts, I'm pretty knowledgeable about different BJD sculpts but I obviously don't know all of them and I don't want to accidentally buy a recast so I usually stick to buying from companies direct or secondhand with proofs. Are there any good ways to tell if these cheaper dolls are original or not?
Unfortunately many of them are counterfeits of different companies combined into one doll. Dream Fairy recasted Volks Dollfie Dream hands and Angell-Studio hands. The heads are often either direct copies or slightly modified. The head in this video hasn't been identified as one. A common head to see is Angell-Studio LiuRushi with slightly wider eyes.
The cheap dolls definitely are recasts unless it's from a real company or authorized dealer. Some companies like resinsoul or bobobie are cheaper, and completely legit. As for recognizing the recasts from the real dolls, each company have different telltale signs. If you want more detailed guidance, find denofangels. It's the biggest bjd forum I have ever seen and it's full of experts on different bjd topics. Good luck, dear!
we all know that overall the smart doll wins its just better quality in general but the Ucanaan is pretty okay for people who don't want to spend to much money on a doll, I would probably use them as a base for a custom doll :)

DorisDoll is available on AliBaba in wholesale quantities. sometimes, if you buy enough pieces, the manufacturer will make a box with your own branding. so if you have a couple thousand $ on hand and a good sales outlet, you can go into the doll business.
I’d suggest if your into jointed dolls to take a look at “actual” BJD (I put it in quotes becuse there is such debate about it but everyone agrees that a hinged doll like the one you just reviewed here is not a ball joint doll) Dollzone, Volks, Luts, resin soul, etc it would be interesting to see your review and Vs on such a doll and The crafts for it too

I never heard Kiling being refer to as Ucanaan before. Maybe they only operate under this name on Amazon. I think everywhere else they are known as Kiling/Kiling Doll. I already looked on many places but no one know for sure if Kilig is a recast or not. For now I assume they are their own thing like the Night Lolita/Ye luoli Dolls. Also for the record Kilig has 2 styles of face up. Type 1 is the style featured in this VDO & only on old stock dolls. Type 2 are on newer dolls & look much nicer than type 1. On Aliexpress you can find the newer dolls.😉
I got my first Ucanaan doll today. I got one that was only $89 and a lolita outfit. I am in LOVE. My doll also came with accessories, lashes, shoes, a tiara, a 'wand', a mirror with a comb. Along with an extra outfit. I am obsessed 🥺
I actually got a Ucanaan doll myself! I bought her for the purpose of customizing, shes 1/6th scale, 12 inch doll. Mine was Jing Ning, in the stripped coat. Though I only paid $50 for mine, not $100. It came with all similar things to yours. Though some things I find interesting is unlike smart dolls, there’s no opening in the head cap to allow for the switching of the eyes, I had to cut into it myself. I didn’t have any hair coming out of my wig but it’s a bit unruly, and while it’s soft the very tips do feel slightly brittle, making her hair a little difficult to manage. Though for a bjd like doll to customize I really do love her, clothes are nice and pretty high quality for the price and the face paint on the dolls, while a bit flat and generic, they’re nice for what it is and luckily easy enough to remove so I can give her a faceup. Love your videos though! And you’re so lucky to have so many beautiful smart dolls 💕💕
Don't forget that extra set of clothes and shoes came with the Ucanaan doll. She also came with very nicely made clothes. You could add freckles or mole or scars. But yes, too bad they don't come in a few more colors. But BOTH are great dolls.
I like both. I have BJDs, an Obitsu, a Ucanaan, an Eva BJD, a Diary Queen, and a couple of Ucanaan knock offs. The Eva BJD and Ucanaan doll are great traveling companions. I like that the Eva BJD's head can come apart to change the eyes, but I don't love the amount of glue holding the eyes in place. Body wise, I like the Diary Queen for BJD-like dolls. I think their 60cm counter part is called Dream Fairy. Ucanaan has a few different lines of dolls, including Doris Doll and Kilig Doll, but all of them have been rebranded lately, and I can't for the life of me remember the new names. The one I have is a budget friendly 45cm play doll from the KD line. It has rooted hair, but it's only $20 - $30.

I have always played with dolls and I make clothes for them but my mom is not very supportive at all. BTW Am a grown 41 year old woman now so she doesn't complain as much.
I'am totally on smart dolls side, but if we talking about the outfit and accessories, then Ucanaan dolls got my vote. I mean, she come fully dress, she came with some extra stuff, and you got it with her, you don't have to buy the extra stuff, and she is a lot cheaper then smart dolls. I just love smart dolls because they have a lot of characters on their face, and bacause they look like teen, and i think Felice or Phyllis, is just a tiny bit creepy, but i think she kinda adorebles, creepy but adorebles, am i so weird?
I think Felisha is adorable, and frankly, she has my features. 😂 I admit that the Smartdolls are higher quality, but not all of us can just drop nearly $1,000 dollars to get a doll and accessories. I doubt I'd ever get either of the brands, but if I did I'd probably start with the Amazon brand to get a feel for the function of a doll that size. Plus I honestly don't like the anime style of Smartdolls, it's not my cup of tea.

The bjd community doesn't accept recast bjds for very valid reasons. Their designs are stolen, the conditions for the workers are more dangerous and less paying than the real companies and the quality is worse. So if you aren't endorsing theft, respect hard working artists, ethical work conditions and good quality, you go legit. Then some of us might be a little heated, but we are a passionate group of people.
@@bloodywaltzer that's why I said some people can be mean, when you're coming into that community people kind of make the same mistake and thinking that they can just buy any doll and it'd be a reputable person. But the last person I watched they were asked to review a doll and they were told it was a recast and in their mind it didn't seem like a wrong thing because the person that wanted them to review it lied about what it meant. So when the person did the review she got a lot of really nasty comments on her RUclips and Instagram. Unfortunately those comments got to her and she no longer wanted to be a part of the community. Just like any community there are bad people but I want to be in good faith and warned her about the possibility of buying a fake one.

Recreating a person's art in a way that hurt thousands of workers for minimal pay and in dangerous conditions as well. I've been in the bjd hobby since I was 14 and I never accidentally bought a recast despite my young age. Why? Because I informed myself about the dangers of my hobby. It takes ten minutes to educate yourself and you can't claim that the hobby doesn't warn you beforehand. Every Instagram/deviantart/twitter bjd account I've seen say "anti recast" or "pro artist", so it's not that hard to google. You don't go bungee jumping without reading the warning text, do you? My actions as you say, are spawning from a moral viewpoint that has decent values. You don't steal, you don't hurt other people's health and you don't stay ignorant because something is cheaper. Besides every hobby and fandom has its rude people and that shouldn't reflect on the entire bunch of us. My conscience is clear and I'm not accepting getting chided for their crap.
I worry about buying any kind of bjd off of amazon because you could potentially get a re-cast. which is taking an artist's hard work and selling it at a lower price, personally I don't think I've seen anything similar to what you found, but it's still always best to be cautious
I got one from them and had to send it back because the eyelashes were mangled and the clothing was ripped at some parts. It was really disappointing actually. I got myself another one, this time one of these casual outfit ones and I hope that this time her eyelashes will be fine.
I had an 1/6 scale EVA bjd and I was very unimpressed. It felt like cheap plastic and wasn't worth the price it was sold at. A made to move barbie was better

Well the Ucanaan doll would maybe be the better but if you are looking for something cheaper because it is and comes with more accessories. But cheaper normally means not as good quality. Each of them are good dolls but the smart doll is really expensive.
Yup. That is a recast BJD. Recasts are illegal copies of actual BJDs, which are sold without permission of the parent company they stole from. Also, I highly suggest VOLKs BJDs. They have a wonderful selection of vinyl dolls AND resin dolls, and I can guarantee that they won’t be as bad as that.. thing.
Also, full disclosure, I’m not a fan of SmartDoll, their owner is a huge prick. Check up on the things he’s done. Recently, he used BLM to advertise his dolls, insensitively referring to SmD as “the minorities” of the doll world. I suggest giving your money to different BJD stores.

Myla Solorio agreed. resin is actually very expensive and the molds can only be used about five times before they have to get another one, so it makes sense that they’d be well over a hundred dollars. but this cheaper one isn’t resin i don’t think, i believe it’s plastic. ( there are lots of plastic bjds out there and this looks like one I saw, but I could be wrong ) so it does seem like the went up in price, because I don’t think it’s actually worth more than the large barbies. :/

It depends on the company, mirodoll and resinsoul have dolls that size and cheaper than fairyland. Fairyland, and Volks are like the Mercedes/BMW of the bjd hobby

The Smart doll definitely looks better. The UCanaan dolls are entry-level price friendly. That 400 dollar price point just scares me out of ever considering that market.
Unfortunately the reason Kiling Doll/EVA BJD/Dream Fairy/Fortune Days can be so beautiful and so cheap is that they illegally cast and slightly modify legitimate Ball jointed dolls.
I don't say this to make anyone feel bad but the artists who create Smartdoll and ball-jointed-dolls are small operations, typically no more than 5 people. It is vital to not knowingly or deliberately purchase recasts or counterfeits.
Dream Fairy for instance directly casted the hands from Volks Dollfie Dreams as well as hands from Angell-Studio.
Two heads that have been counterfeited on this type of doll are Angell-Studio LiuRushi and Fairyland Minifee Woosoo. I have even seen an entire Fairyland Littlefee doll recasted and modified to have hinge joints.
Please, if you are at all interested in the doll hobby, stay away from Dream Fairy/Fortune Days/Eva BJD/Kiling Doll. Save up your money to buy a doll that supports the artists and creators.

Well, the Amazon doll is more pocket friendly, plus you get extra things. The smart doll by far is my favorite, I just wish they would give you more for the price. Like an outfit.

My BJD journey actually began with the Popovy Sisters. (Thank you You Tube algorithm…clearly designed to separate me from my wallet and time.) 😅🙄😒 …wasn’t excited to wire money to Russia to some guy name Igor for a doll that could take a year to receive. Anyway, I digress. If I’m ever able to get a Popovy, I think it’d have to go into a glass box with its own security detail. What I like about the Smart Dolls (though in a different league) is that they don’t need to be carefully handled with gloves and yet the quality and craftsmanship is still there from the clothes, shoes, and body. You can enjoy them, travel with them, etc.

just to let you know, the shoes u received with the Amazon Ucanann doll WILL stain smart doll feet. This happened to my wife's Independence smart doll, even with stain prevention socks on. Other than that, the Ucanann dolls are alright. The wife prefers smart doll also. :)

I always worry that cheaper dolls on places like Amazon and other online superstores will be recasts, I'm pretty knowledgeable about different BJD sculpts but I obviously don't know all of them and I don't want to accidentally buy a recast so I usually stick to buying from companies direct or secondhand with proofs. Are there any good ways to tell if these cheaper dolls are original or not?
Unfortunately many of them are counterfeits of different companies combined into one doll. Dream Fairy recasted Volks Dollfie Dream hands and Angell-Studio hands.
The heads are often either direct copies or slightly modified. The head in this video hasn't been identified as one.
A common head to see is Angell-Studio LiuRushi with slightly wider eyes.
The cheap dolls definitely are recasts unless it's from a real company or authorized dealer. Some companies like resinsoul or bobobie are cheaper, and completely legit. As for recognizing the recasts from the real dolls, each company have different telltale signs. If you want more detailed guidance, find denofangels. It's the biggest bjd forum I have ever seen and it's full of experts on different bjd topics. Good luck, dear!

we all know that overall the smart doll wins its just better quality in general but the Ucanaan is pretty okay for people who don't want to spend to much money on a doll, I would probably use them as a base for a custom doll :)

DorisDoll is available on AliBaba in wholesale quantities. sometimes, if you buy enough pieces, the manufacturer will make a box with your own branding. so if you have a couple thousand $ on hand and a good sales outlet, you can go into the doll business.
I’d suggest if your into jointed dolls to take a look at “actual” BJD (I put it in quotes becuse there is such debate about it but everyone agrees that a hinged doll like the one you just reviewed here is not a ball joint doll) Dollzone, Volks, Luts, resin soul, etc it would be interesting to see your review and Vs on such a doll and The crafts for it too

I never heard Kiling being refer to as Ucanaan before. Maybe they only operate under this name on Amazon. I think everywhere else they are known as Kiling/Kiling Doll. I already looked on many places but no one know for sure if Kilig is a recast or not. For now I assume they are their own thing like the Night Lolita/Ye luoli Dolls. Also for the record Kilig has 2 styles of face up. Type 1 is the style featured in this VDO & only on old stock dolls. Type 2 are on newer dolls & look much nicer than type 1. On Aliexpress you can find the newer dolls.😉
I got my first Ucanaan doll today. I got one that was only $89 and a lolita outfit. I am in LOVE. My doll also came with accessories, lashes, shoes, a tiara, a 'wand', a mirror with a comb. Along with an extra outfit. I am obsessed 🥺

I actually got a Ucanaan doll myself! I bought her for the purpose of customizing, shes 1/6th scale, 12 inch doll. Mine was Jing Ning, in the stripped coat. Though I only paid $50 for mine, not $100. It came with all similar things to yours. Though some things I find interesting is unlike smart dolls, there’s no opening in the head cap to allow for the switching of the eyes, I had to cut into it myself. I didn’t have any hair coming out of my wig but it’s a bit unruly, and while it’s soft the very tips do feel slightly brittle, making her hair a little difficult to manage. Though for a bjd like doll to customize I really do love her, clothes are nice and pretty high quality for the price and the face paint on the dolls, while a bit flat and generic, they’re nice for what it is and luckily easy enough to remove so I can give her a faceup. Love your videos though! And you’re so lucky to have so many beautiful smart dolls 💕💕
Don't forget that extra set of clothes and shoes came with the Ucanaan doll. She also came with very nicely made clothes. You could add freckles or mole or scars. But yes, too bad they don't come in a few more colors. But BOTH are great dolls.
I like both. I have BJDs, an Obitsu, a Ucanaan, an Eva BJD, a Diary Queen, and a couple of Ucanaan knock offs. The Eva BJD and Ucanaan doll are great traveling companions. I like that the Eva BJD's head can come apart to change the eyes, but I don't love the amount of glue holding the eyes in place.
Body wise, I like the Diary Queen for BJD-like dolls. I think their 60cm counter part is called Dream Fairy.
Ucanaan has a few different lines of dolls, including Doris Doll and Kilig Doll, but all of them have been rebranded lately, and I can't for the life of me remember the new names. The one I have is a budget friendly 45cm play doll from the KD line. It has rooted hair, but it's only $20 - $30.

I admit that the Smartdolls are higher quality, but not all of us can just drop nearly $1,000 dollars to get a doll and accessories. I doubt I'd ever get either of the brands, but if I did I'd probably start with the Amazon brand to get a feel for the function of a doll that size. Plus I honestly don't like the anime style of Smartdolls, it's not my cup of tea.

Be careful and by real BJD dolls, the BJD community can be mean (to put it nicely) about fakes or copies.
The bjd community doesn't accept recast bjds for very valid reasons. Their designs are stolen, the conditions for the workers are more dangerous and less paying than the real companies and the quality is worse. So if you aren't endorsing theft, respect hard working artists, ethical work conditions and good quality, you go legit. Then some of us might be a little heated, but we are a passionate group of people.

But the last person I watched they were asked to review a doll and they were told it was a recast and in their mind it didn't seem like a wrong thing because the person that wanted them to review it lied about what it meant. So when the person did the review she got a lot of really nasty comments on her RUclips and Instagram. Unfortunately those comments got to her and she no longer wanted to be a part of the community. Just like any community there are bad people but I want to be in good faith and warned her about the possibility of buying a fake one.

Recreating a person's art in a way that hurt thousands of workers for minimal pay and in dangerous conditions as well. It's not just an innocent little doll we're talking about here, that price tag has a valid reason. I've been in the bjd hobby since I was 14 and I never accidentally bought a recast despite my young age. Why? Because I informed myself about the dangers of my hobby. It takes ten minutes to educate yourself and you can't claim that the hobby doesn't warn you beforehand. Every Instagram/deviantart/twitter bjd account I've seen say "anti recast" or "pro artist", so it's not that hard to google. You don't go bungee jumping without reading the warning text, do you?
My actions as you say, are spawning from a moral viewpoint that has decent values. You don't steal, you don't hurt other people's health and you don't stay ignorant because something is cheaper. Besides every hobby and fandom has its rude people and that shouldn't reflect on the entire bunch of us. My conscience is clear and I'm not accepting getting chided for their crap.
I worry about buying any kind of bjd off of amazon because you could potentially get a re-cast. which is taking an artist's hard work and selling it at a lower price, personally I don't think I've seen anything similar to what you found, but it's still always best to be cautious

I got one from them and had to send it back because the eyelashes were mangled and the clothing was ripped at some parts. It was really disappointing actually. I got myself another one, this time one of these casual outfit ones and I hope that this time her eyelashes will be fine.

Well the Ucanaan doll would maybe be the better but if you are looking for something cheaper because it is and comes with more accessories. But cheaper normally means not as good quality. Each of them are good dolls but the smart doll is really expensive.

Yup. That is a recast BJD. Recasts are illegal copies of actual BJDs, which are sold without permission of the parent company they stole from.
Also, I highly suggest VOLKs BJDs. They have a wonderful selection of vinyl dolls AND resin dolls, and I can guarantee that they won’t be as bad as that.. thing.
Also, full disclosure, I’m not a fan of SmartDoll, their owner is a huge prick. Check up on the things he’s done. Recently, he used BLM to advertise his dolls, insensitively referring to SmD as “the minorities” of the doll world. I suggest giving your money to different BJD stores.
