Fair to Midland Tales of Anchors and Arrows

- These are demos of the songs that would eventually be on Fair to Midland's final album Arrows and Anchors. And if you ask me it's one of the greatest ways to go out...in a blaze of fucking glory.
Eventually drummer Brett Stowers release two demos of songs that were also going to be on the album but were left off. God Save Us aka Babe Ruthe, and Bravo Sierra aka BS.
Time Stamps
A Loophole in Limbo 0:00
Bright Bulbs and Sharp Tools 3:31
Musical Chairs 7:28
Rikki Tikki Tavi 10:52
Bravo Sierra 14:11
God Help Us 17:26
I remember smoking with Rich Caldwell and listening to these. RIP Rich and heart goes out to Brett Darroh Matt and Jon.
I love the raw energy in these recordings. "Riki Tiki Tavi" is ABLAZE
I used to listen to the demo of "Musical Chairs" on loop back in the day... would it have been 2011? Love that version
On some parallel world FTM never stopped making music... Just gotta find a way to get there
Heard a lot of their songs, before demo or production. Darroh writes the songs so crazy and different. He turns one early product into two or three songs.
Cant get enough of this band, every song they did is pure gold. Perhaps my favorite band of all time.
I miss you so much FTM bring real music back😭😭
Fair to Midland really is the only band where I also listen to the demos. Every version of these songs is something special.
The nostalgia, the heartbreak is real. But even just listening and remembering - how f***ing grateful are we that we got to be a part of it?
Oh man, this is painfully true.
I had FtM, dredg, and several other bands by my side through many pivotal moments of my life. Their creativity is missed.
I went into a very deep musical depression when they broke up. So glad I got to see them live so many times. I miss them, they were family to me.
they played right in my county...MY COUNTY...but i hadn't heard of them at the time! makes me very sad... this band is ethereal ... makes it more special though that i listened to them, late or not, and many haven't... the world doesn't deserve them,...
Beautiful
That scream in Rikki Tikk Tavi is much more insane in the demo!!
he did it that way Live on a few shows i found it was insane..he put the whole mic in his mouth
Our local rock station in PA still plays FTM.
As someone who discovered FTM from a now defunct but legendarily diverse rock station in the inland empire of southern California, Drop the name, callsign letters, website, ANYTHING! I already listen to stations in states I've never been. Would love to hear the Boys on air again!
WHAT A FUCKING BAND JESUS CHRIST
like Mastodon and Jethro Tull had a wonderful love child
Loophole in Limbo is one of the best songs ever created, period.
💯 %!!!
The vocals come through so well!
Pray to god this never gets taken down
I hope it doesn't, I don't have the videos monetized so I don't get any money from it. But you know how labels are.
Thank you for this upload ♥
Love this band, loved playing with them at Galaxy Club, they brought the smoke
Still missing this band.. man, those were the days! Always enjoyed these demos more than the album versions (maybe due to the years of patiently waiting for it to release 😜). Still rocking their whole catalog on my Zune HD. Nothing like FTM when it comes to live shows. 🤘 Forever one of my favorite bands
The demos really showcase the amount of effort that was put into these amazing songs.
One day, I’d love to meet any one of them and thank them for doing the world for me!
Such a good album. Goes to show just how difficult it is to align the planets and keep them that way.
Only recently discovered these - really excited to hear the God Help Us and Bravo Sierra demos, rough as they are, also particularly blown away by the vocals on Loophole..., Bright Bulbs... and Rikki Tikki Tavi. Only Musical Chairs seems a little lacking - they really nailed that on Arrows & Anchors. Such a great band - top of my list of bands that I'd love to make a comeback.
I've heard several other uploaded demo versions of these songs and just WOW,it's like discovering thesongs all over again
These guys are on my rotation all the time...thanks to a 10 years concert in NJ and back to Canada, we found these guys...i hope for news of more music one day
I think the Limbo and Bright Bulbs Bulbs demos hit a lot harder than the finished versions. I love em!
Great fuckin band. What a talent. Andrews wife has a neew band. I pray 2 god andrew doesca solo album. Or farewell tour. Come on andrew. Peace. Any1. Close to him.??? How is he doing. /i know he is a dad. Works at school of rock. Seeing his wife. Playing with a new band. He must be thinking?????i pray
@@jaww22 they divorced a few years ago...and he no longer is at school of rock... i wonder what he is up to....hope he does more music
@@kimmyfreak200 From what I've heard he's driving a truck
I only found these guys a few years ago and was bummed when I learned they broke up back in 2013... hard to find local Texas bands I like, but I have had a blast learning more about them and their history. Also love getting inside baseball stuff like this, so thank you for posting this video :)
"mumble demos" on youtube have been deleted apparently? I'm thankful for your new uploads
lets start a go fund me to bring them back
I'd donate, but I think the reality is, at this point, all of the band members have completely different lives now. They might be content where they are now and not have the time or interest in forming up again, even with an outpouring of support.
Thanks for the upload! Sucks the label watered down all their songs. Anyone that’s seen them live knows the range that guy has, and most the growls and really high pitched stuff were changed on the cd.
These demos really showcase Darroh's range
the live shows show his range :)
@@kimmyfreak200Darroh warning up in the back before the show was a real treat, such an amazing talent and voice.
i miss them
I remember having a copy of these demos on a burnt cd I got from a closer friend of theirs like almost a year before Arrows & Anchors was released. It didn't leave my car cd player until Arrows & Anchors was released! These songs were ready in my opinion but they proved me wrong with the Joe Barressi touch! I liked this version of Bright Bulbs better than the final studio 1 but both are excellent!
That's so awesome lol, yeah Loophole is one that I feel was done and ready. It's not as good on the full album.
big thanks to you for uploading this, bro. been looking for this version for ages.
Where do i go to download all the demo cds. And andrew. Full solo album. U have link please???? And ty for posting. God. Andrew please make a solo album. Or do last tour for fans and maybe a ep or album to say goodbye. Shit. If i was a millionaire. I would pay there a shitload of money to make a album and tour. I so would. God help me. Blessed be⭐🦅⭐
This band deserved a Mike Patton collab.
I always thought darroh was going to be the next mike Patton. But, he did no projects instead of a billion.
My 2 favorite vocalists by FAR, ever and always...their versatility just amazes.
@@paulstoliker3303 you know about Maynard right? Plugging Dose One in here, also.
@@twinatoms I've been onto tool since 1992 & opiate. Saw them at Lollapalooza 93 & in Pomona in 94...and of course I'm a fan of MJK. IN fact, from time to time, Darroh sounds a good bit like MJK. In Whiskey & Ritalin, for one.
YESSSSSSS...i've been saying he reminds me of mike patton...mike is one of my fav vocalists of all time and they have similar talents.... that would be so dope..a dream come true honestly....i have a top 5 fav vocalists and darroh and mike are my top 2 and maynard james keenan
Where are they I miss this band
i used to have the t-shirt with the octopus on it and FTM text over it i got at a live show but i lost it years ago.
I've lost all of mine too, Its a shame, I had shirts from before Fables, make me sad still. Lost all my CDs and signed Merch
Love this band. God in heaven. Please get andrew the will and whole band to make 1 last album farewell tour or tour for the fans. Darroh. Please make a solo album. Please god. And tour. Andrew guys. Please. God bless. Peace. Johnny wajda philly 215 ace rns3 aysm sane busloop crew🏴☠️🏴☠️🏴☠️🏴☠️🏴☠️🏴☠️🏴☠️🏴☠️🏴☠️🏴☠️
There’s something so much more personal sounding in these demos that the studio versions left behind. Darroh’s vocal execution is just all around more interesting.
I guess it just reminds me of a much more refined and realized “Inter.Funda.Stifle”
Something producers didn’t meddle in, let them just experiment.
Oh definitely. These showcase the true raw creative vision they had for each song.
Doesn't Darrow lock himself up and make these demos himself? It's still mind-blowing to me how musically gifted he is.
I am happy that, if we're not going to get new music from him, he is at least teaching and molding children with is beautiful madness.
@@Y0PPS he was, from what I hear he's a truck driver now.
@@KingDaveth dang. Hopefully he, krysta, and their boy are all doing alright after the divorce.
Where is possible to download this demos separately?
All the demos can be found at fairtomidlandfans.com/index/audio/0-5#Demos
@@KingDaveth I'm so happy that the site is still up. I am going to be very upset the day it goes down.
That day came. I'm so sad now@@Y0PPS
@@KingDaveth’A server with the specific host name can’t be found’… NO NO NO NO WHY😭
That delayed sting before "surpriiiiiise" is something that creates beauty with every aspect of sound. Percussive, ornamental, and pure.
It's looking at a tack hammer from Lowe's that someone added gold filigree and grooves so it shines and whistles as you use it. Everyone owns a hammer, and some people love them, but their golden whistle hammer is loved by many, respected by most, and beautiful to all.
This version of Loophole will always be the best. I love Barresi but he didn't capture the lilting beauty of the demo track at all.
That and Musical Chairs demo are possibly my favorite of the demos, I'm surprised no one had uploaded the Loophole demo on here before. All the other demos I can find on here but not that one.
@@KingDaveth I think I remember ripping it from yt years ago (back before the album was out) but it's been long gone since. One of their best for sure.
@@sexhaver420 Yeah I find most of these on a site, another youtuber has most of them uploaded but I wanted them all in one video so I can listen to the demos in one sitting lol. Some of my favorites are their first demos like Timerstye and Try Again. And I plan on uploading the Fable demos or as I like to call them The "Mumble demos" because like in some of their first demos when Andrew didn't have lyrics he would mumble and just make sounds. A lot of them are just mumbling or instrumentals but they are so good! And then finally I'll upload the IFS demos. Not sure what I'll do after that lol. Probably nothing seeing how most of the rare stuff has been uploaded already.
