You have a great talent for explaining things in a easy to understand way. This was the first time I have attempted drum brakes, no way I would have pulled it off without this video. Thanks
Yooooooo Oscar thank you very much!!! I've always been afraid of getting this brakes done but your video made it super easy, the hardest part is releasing that parking brake release button but I got it done thank you again saved me some money and gave me a reason to crack a couple of beers after I was done cheers bud.
Thanks so much for the detailed video! I worked half a day and was fighting with putting the parking brake spring back into place. Having watched other videos that skipped over this section I was u aware of the release on driver side! After viewing your video both sides completed in about an hour. Lifesaver!
Nice work Boss, I was going to start this today and decided I'd rather take a whole day and a couple right tools for todays systems. Last time I did drums was 78' we didn't use anything but pliers a screwdrivers and wooden mallets and I love working on my own truck. Thanks for the help. Your a good dude. Peace.
I'm only 4 minutes in and you have a great way of explaining things so that normal human beings can understand (and I'm actually mechanically inclined). I'm not even changing my brakes, but I'm gonna keep on watching!! Thanks for the effort!
Thank you....very specific with details not left out...good job. A good teacher makes a student successful...I particularly enjoyed your comments on a tool we often don't use... patience. Thanks.
I just finished up on my ‘06 Silverado, and learned one valuable lesson learned that I hope Chevy drum brake diy’ers will find useful. Another option for removing a drum that will not allow itself to release despite several good methods for doing so: cut the drum in two. Takes only about 10 minutes with an inexpensive elec grinder and metal cutting wheel. One side took me about 3 hours to remove without cutting the drum, destroying the wheel cylinder and my knuckles in the process. I cut the other drum in two, and it took took about 30 mins total, including replacing the wheel cylinder and attaching the parking brake cable. If your pickup is your only ride, make sure you have new drums, shoes, springs and adjusters, brake fluid, and tools on hand before you start. Parts are amazingly cheap via the web. Quite a few shops seem to use Napa, so that’s another option. Details are key with getting it done right tht first time, so don’t rush.
Can’t thank you enough for uploading this video super helpful and going in to detail with the tip and tricks. Life saver and keeping money in my pocket!
Hey man I've watched a lot of vids on the drums you did the best of all on You Tube - you beat out A1-Auto really good close ups a explaining all the details Thank You for posting the best I have seen
Just wanted to stop by and thank you for the amazing video! A few months ago, me and you changed the brakes on my truck in the driveway - seamless install. Thx again!
Very good job making this video! I was trying to wait until the spring time to take my truck to the dealership but with this and another video I'm going to tackle this myself on of these Saturdays! Thanks man for going into great detail on this.
This is basically the best video on rear brake drums I've ever seen.

One of the best How to videos. Very detailed. Thanks for that!
Excellent. I was battling with reconnecting the E brake until pulling this up and seeing an easy place to release the tension from the line.
You have good patience and I like your attitude, good job on the tension adjustment on the drum.
