Eastman E1D [First chords on my new guitar]

  • I never had a dreadnought guitar before - and after having heard many good things about this particular model I decided to buy one. My best pal Jonas Normann kindly offered me to make a small film of my first few chords on the new guitar, and this is the result. It's all in one take - no second takes, so what you hear is what you get. I'll make another video of the Eastman E1D in the near future featuring this original tune along some others as well. I'll give a more comprehensive description of the guitar in the next video. But all I can say is that im absolutely blown away by this guitar.
    A HUGE thank you to my incredibly talented friend Jonas Normann for taking time to film, cut and produce this little preview of my new acoustic guitar.
    Please go check out his work at jonasnormann.com/
    Take care, and thank you for all of your support. I appreciate it more than you know.
    //Chris Effort

    I came here to listen to the eastman e1d, but I was taken elsewhere and literally enraptured by the beauty of your music and the depth that transpires from your playing. Thank you so much for sharing this pearl, which shows your absolute talent and made my normal day really special, listening to those "first chords". Best from Italy and thanks again!

    Beautiful playing and lovely sound, Chris. You convinced me to buy an E1D... until I discovered not a single left handed one is available here in England currently. Eastman should have you on commission, I bet your two videos of this E1D have inspired a whole bunch of people to choose one! You make it sound head and shoulders above any other guitar in its price bracket. Keep doing what you're doing, and thanks again for putting this out there.

    Beautiful, you make this guitar truly shine. Play my E1D just at home, the high end specs on this are superb for the price, with that and your skills it sounds like a professional level guitar. That's my guess as I can't afford to own one but I'm delighted that I chose this guitar every time I pick it up to play. It delivers on all levels: strumming, fingerstyle, drop tuning....and you've delivered it here superbly, thanks.

    This inspired me to check out and test Eastman guitars, I'd never seen or heard of them before.....well long story short just the other day I was at one of the best guitar shops in Sydney Australia (The Guitar Factory Gladesville, shout out to these great bunch of guys) the salesman asked me to give him a run down of what I was searching for and he presented me with an E6SS-TC , torrefied Spruce/Mahogany, Ebony bridge/fretboard, man once it came out of the rack there's no way it was going back, got him to play it to me (good player too) then I played it myself and after only a minute my search was over, I'm overwhelmed by it....way better than I deserve, it's inspiring, thanks for your videos and awesome music sounds and style, I owe you Chris 👍👌

    Hey Chris. After watching your videos I decided to get this guitar. (After comparing it to the similar one with a cedar top. I thought I'd like the "mellowness" of the cedar, but I prefer the crisp clarity of the spruce.) Two things:
    1. You should get a commission from Eastman for all the people you've steered their way via your reviews.
    2. When I get it and it doesn't sound like yours (i.e. your playing) can I get a refund? 😀

      Hi Jeff, thanks man - I’m not sure I could pull that off haha, but I appreciate your very kind words. It’s a banger of a guitar, really loud, but also quite touch sensitive. If you’re in the marked for a Dreadnought - an e1d is possibly the best bet in that price range. It definitely punches above its weight class, that’s for sure. It is really killer!

    That’s a great tune! I once had an E1OM, gave it back, kinda regret it as it was actually amazing, still have store credit and am looking at these Eastman’s again. I did play the E1D in the store, and it didn’t make me go «WOW!» like the OM did. In video comparisons the 1D often takes it though, simply out-muscle’ing the OM. I’m a softer fingerstyle player at heart, so that may be why. They’re undoubtedly great guitars though, especially when considering price.

      I’ve tried an E1OM as well, and what a flipping good guitar. You’re are right about the E1D, it’s a canon for sure. But it was the better choice for me since owning a 000 Martin. However - I’d absolutely love to add an OM style Eastman to my collection in the future. The E20OM is amazing too, a buddy of mine has one. For the money it might be the best I’ve tried.

    Chris, quick question. I bought an ED1 after hearing your playing. Wondering about a string change. Find the B & E strings a bit thin and reedy. Might be 11s, I don't know. What would you recommend for strings? Many thanks for any help at all.

    • @ChrisEffort
      @ChrisEffort  2 года назад +2

      That’s sweet Joe! I still experiment with different strings to find some that suits it well. It’s a very bright sounding guitar, I think. I’ve tried the stock strings which I believe were Elixirs. I have tried Martin Retros and the MA540T’s, and they sound ok, but a little too bright to my taste. Next I’ll try some bronze strings, with no phosphor - just to test if it will mellow it out a bit. But the guitar is very young sounding, so it could potentially be an attribute of the guitar. I’ll give you a heads up when I tried some bronze strings. Oh, and I only use 12s.

    That Sapele/Spruce sound is the best I have ever heard sweeter than mahog.The martin road series has several with this wood combination but I am not sure they sound better than this e1d. they sound brash by comparison but maybe what I am hearing is the #13 strings martin puts on the d10e.IDK I live in an area where the guitar shop has become nothing more that a repair shop with strings and things.

      I’m using Martin MA540 Treated 12’s here. I have the Martin Retro strings on right now. They sound really good too, and cost only half.

    I was unsure of my recent purchase, which is coming tomorrow until I re-seen your video. My purchase is gonna be well welcomed. It'll do me good and proper until I get another 'proper' or should I say properly overpriced guitar like a gibson j200 or another d35, the one that got away.
    Thank you for taking me away with your playing man cheers from NE UK.

      I’m so glad to hear my video was able to offer you some reassurance. And thank you for your kind words. It’s a killer guitar. But oh boy so I know about the one that got away, but at the end of the day guitars are just things, and there will always be another one to drop your jaw, that’s my experience.

I hope I do get another that blows me away. Ps don't stop doing what your doing man your playing is special
