I don't think she was directing it at Tam because she's part white.. but more so like oh hey, there's that thing that you both do in common that I appreciate... just felt like Tam's response came out a lil negative, almost like she assumed Jeanie was directing that statement at her because she's part white.. when she's equally as black as she is white so...

  • @DeeL3
    @DeeL3 5 лет назад +2

    I get what Jeannie meant. There are some parents that really do not over compliment and do not constantly feel the need to validate their kids. It's not a bad thing at all and it don't mean the parents love them or support them any less, they just do not feel like they gotta congratulate every little thing the kids do. Sometimes it does feel like "Why are we applauding fish for swimming?" You did exactly what I knew you would do, you won the match. I do not need to go on and on and on and on about you doing what was expected of you because I already knew you would get the job done.
    But then Serena lost in the quarter finals and I was soooooooo sad!!!

    Oracene is unbothered. She says it like she means it. I saw an interview where she said Serena is too much for her taste. Venus is more laid back and reserved; Serena is like, bam!! Here I am!!

      It’s clear that Serena took after her dad and Venus took after her mom. I find that parents tend to be closest to the children that favor them the most.

    That's just a mother who has traveled around the world watching her daughters play tennis for over 25 yrs + coaching them. In the past she was always engaged in their matches, but with 2 champs in the family, sometimes they(family) would have 3 matches to attend in 1 day, it gets old. Now she usually has her shades on sleeping or chatting with friends. She has always been a pleasant tennis mother, meaning she cheers for good tennis regardless.

    • @digthewarmth
      @digthewarmth 5 лет назад +2

      She does that a lot. She really identifies herself as black alone. I wonder if she doesn't know her dad's side of the family, and that's why she doesn't claim that side.?

    • @digthewarmth
      @digthewarmth 5 лет назад +5

      I haven't seen her adamantly claim her white side. I agree that she probably has been tried several times throughout her life, so that makes her really want to wave her "I'm black too" flag. and she Definitely waves it. She is always very quick to say "I'm black too!" when they mention her white side, but I never hear her say "I'm white too!" when they mention her black side (Edit: meaning she's fine and doesn't feel the need to educate people when they call her a black woman). It seems she would rather be called black than biracial, and she even tells her son he's black, when he's clearly not.

    • @JennyG1605

      Wait, if I saw the clip right, Jeannie state she was surprised when she saw that in white shows, parents celebrated their kids a lot, and this is the reason why Tam said she is not white, for Jeannie to understand it was culture and not race...

    • @privacywanted434
      @privacywanted434 5 лет назад +11

      Biracial kids tend to identify based on the race of their same gendered parent... so Tamera having a black mom is going to slightly favor her black side (aside from the historical context) because her mom was black... and little girls often connect with their growth as a woman to their mother... People want to come at her but she should be able to claim that.
