@@gfriend4ever939 People can change their bad habits if they're motivated enough, but they can't change their personality (unless they have mental disease) and what they are prone to do. Sure he may struggle and not cheat for a while when he'd want to "impress" somebody, but that's similar to alcoholism - you may never have a drink anymore, but you are still an alcoholic. It's much easier to stop drinking though - you can avoid being with contact with alcohol altogether - you can't really avoid other people (unless you're introvert, but I havent heard of an introverted cheater before). But if you're one that likes to play the saviour and try to correct somebody by all means go for it.
I won't say, "once a cheater always a cheater." I'll say that once a cheater is caught and they go through the depression of break-up, they know they can survive it if it happens again so cheating is still and will always be in the playbook.

Sometimes it takes one glance to fall in love 30 minutes is just sometimes 30 minutes long for some people. The problem with today's day and age is that they need a few years of sleeping with each other to know if they are right for each other. I respect the actions when a person confesses to cheating because they feel guilty and made a terrible mistake rather than get caught cheating and has to admit it such a big difference in whether to continue a in the relationship.
