This whole scene was beautiful done props to the director and actors my favourite scene!

I agree. S2 offers two competing, controlling, jealous suitors, who have no respect for her reputation! They both seem to consider her as 'inferior' to them but good enough to kiss, inappropriately. At least, the 'villain', Lennox, proposed first!!! Even he treated her better than, her employer, Colbourne. Sidney and James Stringer both treated her respectfully. I loved her chemistry with both SP and JS. Though, it was clear who she favoured! After going through so much, together, the ending of S1 was, particularly, galling! The writers had, clearly, done it to spin out the tale/make more money out of it! They didn't think that it would be dropped, which it shouldn't have been! However, it seems that Theo James WANTED the awful, misjudged, 'broken fairytale' ending! It's a good job he's an actor and not a writer! I, for one, would have waited longer, to get the main cast back together, for S2. Now, weak character, Colbourne, has zero competition, for, suddenly, dizzy Charlotte. She, suddenly, only wants an older, wealthier man, than Sidney Parker! She's morphed into Eliza!!! 😱 I would love to see Andrew Davies', original, continuation of Sanditon, with the Sidlotte ending! ♥️

This is such a beautiful scene, the most memorable scene for me actually. We just finished Season 1 and Episodes up to 8. My husband and I enjoyed it all. It's my first time to hear about Jane Austin's unfinished novel. I am fond of her books and to me this story is unique. I think this is the best period drama so far at least for me. It's because of the story, the actors, beautiful settings, beautiful costumes...The actress Charlotte is very interesting and I love the story which was started from the beginning of the season with Sidney, is exciting that you can't help to want to follow the story arc. The ending in Season 1 was not great. I think it's not what would Jane Austin wanted to happen in her book... but I just wish to see a beautiful and happy ending for Charlotte and Sidney or at least for the heroine. To me Theo James is the best actor for this role. At this point I couldn't think of the best love for Charlotte. I think for Charlotte, that is the best ending of the story and seeing her what she becomes and growth. Hopefully in Season 3, we’ll see. It is a definitely a keeper for me.
His inference was that, he doubted that he could enter a relationship, with Eliza, again, because it was not the same situation and he was not the same man, who had loved her 10yrs ago! ♥️
I've always felt this was the most romantic scene in S1. I actually liked seeing the interruption from Mrs. Campion because she sensed the intimacy that was forming between them. To me, when Sidney stood up and acknowledged Mrs. Campion, I thought he looked a little annoyed.
The three seasons should have been Charlotte and Sidney's journey to an equal and respectful relationship. Two years is long enough for her to mature more and for him to change into the man she deserves. Some of the plot pieces could have remained the same like her deciding to be a governess and her fiancé in season 3. They would've had to change the ending of season 1 though. Maybe after choosing the other woman, Sidney's brother found an investor. Thereby removing the need for Sidney to marry that woman, but Charlotte's pride and insecurity of her station in-life prevents her from accepting Sidney's advances. By the end of season 3 we get their happily ever after.
