A former partner's father told me, ( WW2 RAF aircrew) that he was imprisoned in Germany, not in a camp, but in a town, and due to be interrogated. He was in a single cell. Late one night, his cell door opened and he saw the man holding the door open was not in uniform, and a black guy. He made a shh sign with his finger to his lips, and silently led the prisoner out of the prison and pointed him in the direction he should make his escape. It was a complete mystery who this hero was. Genuine story.

During World War Two, pilots flying a C47 had to abandon the plane, and parachute out. There was some dogs restrained on the plane. Before the pilots jumped, they let the dogs free in the plane, so that if they survived the crash, the might run free, and not burn with the plane. The C47 was a great plane, so the plane flew alone, except dogs for company, it kept descending. At one point, the plane was pretty low on gas, the plane circle a small town the straighten out and landed perfectly in open field in front of a bunch of German solders. The engines ran out gas, and stopped. The German solders surrounded the plane. They demanded the people inside the plane surrender. They herd nothing, except dogs barking. more solders came, and they opened the plane, and dogs ran out. The searched the plane, but found no one. They were dumbfounded. Who flew the plane? They settled on the theory that the Americans were teaching dogs to fly planes.

My father spent most of his life in the Air Force, and we lived on military bases. I heard the story from a friend of my father, who got it out some book. I read the story, but I was a kid, and I remember they guy talking about it more. What book? That was long ago, and I don't think I remember the title of the book a week later. Sorry I can't be more helpful.

I served in the US Navy aboard the USS Bainbridge CGN-25. Back I think in the 70s, 4 sailors died due to a Freon leak in one of the A/C machine rooms. This just happened to be my work space several years later. I swear it was haunted. Valves would close on their own. The bilge would suddenly fill with water, even though there was no leak. The creepiest thing for me was the voices that I would hear, and the sounds of someone trying to climb the ladder out of the space, even though I was there alone.

I read one first hand account from WW2 involving British troops in the middle east. A small unit had become detached in the desert behind a minefield. Someone in British military combat uniform appeared in the distance and hailed them. They followed the figure's circuitous route ahead until they were out of danger. When they went to discover which unit he was with and thank him, the individual had completely disappeared.

I'm surprised there is not more mention of the sighting of dead soldiers. I've heard of battles where combatants would see the ghosts of dead soldiers (even enemies) arising from their bodies after being killed, and eventually disappearing. It was especially true during/after large battles The same held true at military hospitals - nurses, doctors and other patients witnessed the spirit/soul of a newly dead soldier rising from the still warm body. Injured soldiers who saw the phenomenon and reported it were told it was not an uncommon thing to be seen by the staff and patients, but it was not talked about so as to not alarm superstitious patients. I can't recall where I heard/read about this, but I've never forgotten it. It may be worthy of a video all its own if you could interview some military medical personnel or combat soldiers. Think about all of the ghost sightings around Gettysburg battlefield ! Also, I think the same thing isn't unheard of in civilian hospitals/morgues to this day. I think it would be worth a first hand investigation and report by you instead of just reporting the findings of others. Please consider it !

Hi - The only thing I would say is this. The 'Private Reginald' story, although a corker, couldn't have happened. For British soldiers to be posted in Switzerland during WWII would have invalidated the Swiss claim of neutrality and (as a reasonable researcher in the WWII field) I have found no instances where there were postings of this nature. This may have originated as a Nazi misinformation story.

My grandfather told all kinds of stories about the phantom 'stragglers' from the German army and the French army, that wandered around their camp at night. He also talked about having to walk for twelve hours then go into a battle and of hearing men sobbing like little children in their tents at night. A lot of strange things in the First World War. At Fort Campbell, we were all awakened by a scream at 02:00. The guys on guard duty saw nothing. On a Field Exercise, we were bivouacked next to this forest in the Three Rivers area close to the border of Tennessee. In the middle of the night, this guys starts screaming something awful and we all came running. A wild boar had gotten hold of this foot while he was sleeping. There was always some f--ked up thing in that outfit. Thank you, President ford!!!

There is a book called " Ghosts of the Air ", written by Martin Caiden, who is sadly, no longer of the living. The book contains stories of ghosts, time slips, and other phenomenon. One story, which has been confirmed as true, concerned a flight of Bolton Paul Defiants, a World War 2 bomber, with no forward firing guns, but a turret behind the pilot with four .303 machine guns. The flight was sent out to bomb a Nazi target, and, after many hours, about half of the crews returned. They were debriefed by the C.O. of the R.A.F. base, then sent to get a well deserved drink. The C.O. had everyone sign their statements. The adjutant, or second in command, then came in, and said to his boss that the raid had caused a huge loss of people. The C.O. told him that he had sent the survivors to have a well earned drink, only to be told that NO-ONE had survived!

@@CuriousWorldProductions I was visiting Tangmere one night, which has it's own chapter in the book. My wife was with me, and we walked onto what used to be the runway. We were stood by the old tower, snapping some photos of it. The time was around 11 at night. We both heard a plane, which I recognized as being a Spitfire. There was no sign of the plane, no lights, or anything visual, just the engine sound. The batteries in my camera, which were new, died after only a few snaps of the control tower, and I didn't have anymore with me, so we left. I downloaded the pictures to my PC, only to see a pair of legs on the balcony area. We knew there was no way anyone could be up there, as the entrance was blocked, and no way to be able to climb up to the balcony.

One small point - the Defiant wasn't a bomber, but a turret fighter. It performed so badly in the Battle of Britain as a day fighter that it was swiftly redeployed, and found its true niche as a pretty effective night fighter

    • @ronstreet6706
      @ronstreet6706 3 года назад

@@johndavies1090 thanks for pointing that out. At the time of the story, the Bolton Paul Defiant was being used as a fighter bomber, hence the confusion.

The story from WWI in which a whole unit of British soldiers obviously saw the ghost of their now deceased commanding officer is compelling and I personally have no doubt about its authenticity and the credibility of the witnesses. The other stories (apart from the cannibal story, please see my comment below) are also believable and are just a few of many such stories experienced by soldiers of all nations during wars all over the world. My father himself had an extremely strange paranormal encounter shortly after WWII in Germany, but it is too detailed to relate here in short. Thanks again to IJ Kelly and friends for presenting us with these highly interesting and weird encounters with the supernatural during various conflicts. Isn't it bad enough to have to fight fellow humans without some nasty and possibly dangerous spirits or cryptids getting involved, scaring what is left of one's senses, and if you are unlucky, for those never to completely return ? 😵

Thanks. Really enjoyed it. So nice to not have even one of the hackneyed, too familiar stories. I enjoyed the lack of histrionics in the narration and the low key but still appropriate music. Kudos.
I think all the WW2 experts in the comments are funny, I’ve had a few good chuckles reading them. Just cos you’ve never heard of American troops stationed in Switzerland doesn’t meant they never were. There are still facts about WW2(and, I believe, WW1) needing to come to light. For example, I am Australian, with a better than average knowledge of WW1 history, but the other day I found a totally new (to me) version of the reasons for theAnzac battles on Gallipoli.
Regarding the Swiss thing? Sorry Yanks but if pretty well the only result from a small group being stationed there, perhaps looking for collaborators etc, was that some went insane and ate the local children, I can totally believe no one has ever heard of the USA having Swiss based troops.
Even the guy(?) that says “Ive got a minor in history”. Good for you. But I don’t think many college history courses focus an WW2 especially before you guys joined in. Most of the rest of the free world think you guys like to pretend nothing really happened before the rest of us totally stuffed it up and you “came to the rescue” Ever heard of the Battle of Brisbane? Go nuts finding out the truth about it, kiddos, even if you have a major in history
Besides that, they are good stories. Relax and enjoy.

An Australian platoon set up an ambush on a jungle trail one night. In the early hours of the morning, several armed men walked into the ambush and the bloke on the M60, let's call him Jimmy, accounted for for a couple of the 4 VC killed. Jimmy got a few pats on the back for his good shooting. The dead were buried a couple of feet to the side of the track where they died.
Reports from other platoons operating in the area suggested this track was likely to see more traffic by VC avoiding the other platoons patrolling, so it was decided to ambush the track again that night.
As fate would have it, Jimmy was on m60 picquet again for some of that night. The soldiers not on watch were awakened by Jimmys blood curdling scream followed by the sound of his Gun going through a whole belt of 7.62.
A clearing patrol swept the area but found no sign of the enemy. Jimmy had lost his shit. He sat next to the smoking M60 making tortured sounds in his throat while the others tried to work out what had happened.
During Jimmys watch, one of the corpses from the previous nights ambush had slowly sat up, emerging from his shallow grave by some fluke of rigor mortis to sit facing poor old Jimmy once again. This didn't do his sanity any good, having to 'kill' the same man two nights in a row. I can't begin to imagine what Jimmy's dreams are like now.

Another great video of great stories by Mr I J Kelly! (As his credits tell us he is so named!) I could get addicted to this site... :)
The Nguio Rong (?) was particularly interesting. Sort of Vietnamese Orang Pendek, maybe? (Haven't they proved that the orang pendek exists?) Glad they didn't shoot it.
As for the soldier turned cannibal in the Alps - that was horrible!

Nice to know as most things are covered up or classified when dealing with the military for strange stuff.
Another story I have been told is about an old hill fort in Afghanistan and was used by the Soviet during their war and then the US used it as an outpost against the Taliban and have the same sort of reports on the radio and ghost sightings but the twist is that bodies are buried under the fort of either soviet or others.

Going to war is similar to going to prison. A completely different set of rules govern the situation, and those who haven’t been there have a hard time understanding how men could do such things (rape, murder, torture...). The anger & frustration is something that you can’t internalize as an outsider looking in. Your heart goes cold out of a need for survival, and as a means of keeping your sanity after being separated from your loved ones, and all that’s familiar. Judging them is like judging people who lived hundreds of years ago using our modern perspective, not something that smart people do.

Great series of stories! Excellent vid overall. I was concerned the Airborne troopers were gonna shoot the creature n surprised they didn't. It probably could have ripped them apart. They clung to our better nature. A habit too easily and too frequently lost in wartime.

The only problem with the story about Private Reginald is that Switzerland was neutral no unprotected. It was perfectly able to defend its borders and no British soldiers were *ever* stationed in Switzerland to protect it from marauding Nazis at any time during WW2

After watching all your videos and biting my nails for so long... Like Reginald, I too have developed a taste for human flesh!!! Jokingly, I called out Reginald as the culprit. I honestly cobbled together a dark line of logic and assumed it was him, although, I expected to be completely wrong.
