An internal part of the fortress, for the prison of Arbace. Gates in the prospect, a small door to the right which enters from the palace.
Artaserse sneaks into the prison to free Arbace. Arbace is willing to stay in prison to be executed, but Artaserse says.. that it is due to his love that he will free Arbace. He leaves.

Vinci,un grande compositore colpevolmente sottovalutato
Cette production est vraisemblablement le plus beau spectacle d'opéra baroque depuis le mythique Atys.
Côté voix, à mon sens, Franco Fagioli surclasse largement ses illustres collègues (mais rassembler quatre contre-ténors de premier plan, il fallait le faire !). La longueur de sa tessiture _ avec en particulier un registre suraigu spectaculaire_, la richesse de son timbre, la diversité des coloris, le contrôle du souffle. Comme on dit dans la variété, c'est lui "le boss".
Oui, c'est lui le chanteur virtuose qui monopolise presque toute la scène , naturellement baroque, souple , gracieux , irrésistible..... Et il entraine le roi plus lourd et raide mais très sympathique dans son sillage... .

I am addicted to this music. Had to listen to this tonight as the Wigmore Hall concert in London, 2020 has been cancelled due to Covid-19, and I needed a fix of Fagioli.

Am ascultat opera asta de câteva ori dar mă întorc la ea cu mare plăcere pentru a auzi niste piese remarcabile și niște voci de excepție chiar daca aparțin unor școli de bellcanto diferite . Fagioli este magistral. Nu întâmplător se spune că " esențele țări sunt în sticluțe mici ".

Fagioli is the Callas of countertenors, extraordinarily committed to his character in voice and presentation. I hope he records as much as he can in the next few years. I suspect his career won't be long because of his fearlessness.

I've listened to countertenors since Alfred Deller and also Les Arts Florissants but I've left off in the last couple decades. It seems that as great as those were in the past these current countertenors are more powerful and accomplished than ever. This is a pretty amazing production. It's not at all a falsetto now. It's like that is their real voice.
They are true male soprani as were the castrati.

Me encantan, no me canso de ver cada gesto, analizar y escuchar a estos artistas cantantes y actores que son "FORMIDABLES": Philippe Jaroussky y Franco Fagioli countertenors. Son un milagro, una maravilla en el escenario!! Bravo y Bravo por ambos, la orquesta el director D. Fasolis y demás del cast de la bellísima ópera Artaserse del compositor L. Vinci con libreto de P. Metastasio.

During his coloraturas Fagioli's timbre sounds a bit similar to the one of Bartoli. None the less: Great performance of two excellent musicians!
He has a voice color similar to that of Bartoli, the same kind of stamina and agility which I would be remiss not to attribute to the school of singing to which both belong. They are powerhouses of harmonics and nuance. The homogeneity they both enjoy in their whole monstruously long tessitura is something before which should stand in awe. As much as I adore Jarousski, next to Fagioli I find his voice more shrill (but beautifully so) and dry (but splendid) his weakness being his lower register, which at times (though not in his prime) sounds a bit hollow (I am nitpicking). Jarousski has a "whiteness" to his voice that carries crystaline high notes whith an ease difficult to emulate.
What was that at 8:10!!! I am mesmerized!

Magníficas ejecuciones e interpretaciones vocales de Franco Fagioli y Phillipe Jarousky, pero han dejado muy fuera a la maravillosa creación del gran compositor italiano Leonardo Vinci, una cosa es la voz en la ejecución - interpretación y otra es la complsición con todos los arreglos en las grandiosas armonías, melodías y rítmicas del período barroco, Vinci un gran genio !!. Los invito a que escuchen a otros castratos como: Georg Friedrish y Sergio Medina.
Creo que no conoces la diferencia entre contratenor y castrato. Ninguno de ellos ha sido castrado.
Es sólo una forma tradicional para referirse a esta particular forma de ejecución vocal; me hubiese gustado ver tu opinión acerca del tenor de mi comentario y no de lo tangencial,...en fin, cada cual desde donde puede. Saludos y caso cerrado.
No he considerado necesario entrar a responder a fondo a un comentario que de modo manifiesto ha sido hecho para alardear de unos conocimientos de los que en realidad no se dispone.
