- The diner is returning to Broadway as Waitress comes into the Ethel Barrymore Theatre for a special engagement this fall. Leading the cast is composer/lyricist Sara Bareilles as Jenna, alongside a host of original cast members including Drew Gehling (Dr. Pomatter) and Christopher Fitzgerald (Ogie). Here, on the first day of rehearsals for this new run (which begins September 2), Bareilles and the cast perform an emotional and jubilant "Opening Up."
Imagine being a music director teaching the composer the score and she also happens to be the lead actress in the production. 😅 ❤️

Rehearsals are even more fun than public performance. I'm going to see her (and others) tonight perform at the Majestic Theater, at the Actors Fund Benefit that will also be the premier of Sammi Cannold's documentary "The Show Must Go On" about how Broadway's people dealt with the shutdown.
